My go-to market for Asian groceries. I stopped shopping around the 86th street market area as JMart has parking. I come each weekend for week's worth of groceries. Most recently, I saw the new Shin ramen sold by the case here. I only saw the small (4-packs) at HMart but was surprised to see a cases of Shin Gold (chicken broth) + Shin Green (veggie). There was a few other promotions which prompt me to take photo as it was unique.

Hugee i mean huge selection on almost everything and samples on their new products and that's how I found these mini soup dumplings for 3 pk for $11 . 1 pack has 10 pcs , 30 pcs for 11 bucks not bad at all

I've wanted to visit Jmart since I heard about it earlier this year. I finally found an opportune time (translation: early weekday) to do so and moseyed over on Monday (Oct. 30) morning. I'm not gonna lie that I was overwhelmed once I stepped into Jmart. I don't know what I expected but I was shocked about the number of options. Believe me when I say that you can find absolutely everything you need for Asian cooking, including a wide variety of Asian snacks, here. I mean it, EVERYTHING. I purchased frozen mini buns and dumplings, bean sprouts, one bunch of chives, scallions, and rice wrappers. I also bought a beautiful stainless steel bowl that I intend to use for lunchtime salads. I'm scheduled to take a Pad Thai cooking class later this year. Once I learn from the professionals, I will make my way back to Jmart and purchase all of the ingredients. I cannot wait!

J Mart is a 4 min walk to the 18th Ave D train station and there is a parking lot on site. It is very busy, lots of people. Occasionally, there is a lot of things on sale. There are multiple register when checking out, usually moves pretty fast.

My type of ideal supermarket! My go to supermarket for weekly groceries. Especially great when you want to buy everything all in one place. Pros: -Huge parking lot (free parking- no one checks the receipt). -Lots of different varieties of Chinese/Asian snacks, frozen food, drinks, ice cream. -Meat and seafood majority of the time is fresh. -There are sometimes promotions. -Lines can sometimes get long but there's a lot of cashiers so usually it doesn't take too long. Cons: -Coming on weekend afternoon - it's going to be packed. -The Chinese style, there is not an uniform line to line up for meat and seafood, you would have a lot of the older generation trying to skip you. -Majority of the meat will be sold up by closing. -Prices might be slightly more expense.

They have absolutely everything you need to make your next Chinese dish. The prices are great too! Only thing is it can get crowded!

I was so sad when Waldbaums shuttered its doors here, but JMart is a pretty darn good replacement. I have to say this is probably one of the best Asian supermarkets in Southern Brooklyn. The space is huge, so not only is there lots of free parking spaces, but they also offer a lot more products - from poultry to seafood, vegetables, snacks, and home goods. While most of the snacks and ice cream are Asian, they do sell some American products like Haagen Dazs ice cream. I like how I can find Asian snacks and ice cream here that I would typically not find elsewhere. For example, Easter Egg paint Kit Kat flavor?! (Gone are the days where people bring back bags and bags of uniquely flavored Kit Kats from Japan.) During the early days of COVID-19, they were even selling lobsters for very cheap. People often compare JMart to Fei Long at 8th Ave, but I think JMart wins by a mile. The interior is a lot cleaner, more spacious, and the structure is quite pretty with its glass exterior.

Today was the long awaited Grand Opening. They kept people waiting throughout the day talking about…read more'another five' minutes. Many people gave up, some (mostly locals obviously, such as myself and my parents) persisted and did finally get in. It was already a little past six when they finally gave it a grandiose Go. If you weren't here today you missed out on some delicious free mini canoli and mixed fruit pastry and coffee. I think most people, including us, assumed it will be another Russian store (which ironically would be right across Gourmet Plaza, the infamous long standing local Russian store). But it is not Russian at all. It seems to be a weird medley of Indian/South Asian owners with a store carrying your standard Eastern European/Turkish/Russian fare plus healthy type of items, with cashiers being young Russian/former Soviet girls, and Turkish music playing in the background. If you're looking for a typical Russian store with assorted hot foods, this ain't it. At the front of the store they have nice looking cakes and pastries and the rest of the store is wide assortment of dried fruits and nuts, teas, crackers, grains, cheeses, etc. You could see some of it on my pics. But I only took a few. I didn't want be a nut snapping up pics all over the place. I don't see their phone number posted up anywhere. Perhaps they don't have one yet since they only started operating. I couldn't find any mention of them online at all yet. I am still confused about their actual name. On the pic I took you could see the sign above the store says Food Mart (Gourmet Market) but on the receipt it says Super Food Mart. They also put wrong zip code on the receipt. It is 11229, not 11219. And I do not k ow their operating hours yet.
