Closest bbq to Texas you can get around West Virginia area. We are from Texas..so we know our bbq. My husband and I both got brisket, potato salad & green beans for our sides. The bbq sauce was pretty good too. We will definitely be visiting this place again to try their peach cobbler. read more

The BBQ is decent. Can't complain but nothing spectacular either. Pretty good considering there's not much going on around here. For $15 you can get three meats and two sides. What can I say I'm a fan! The food is excellent and plentiful. A two meat combo will hurt you in such a good way. Seriously I wouldn't make plans to do anything after eating a combo, you'll be in a coma. I'd recommend the brisket, pork and wings. My goodness the wings are good. The chicken can be a bit bland at times but their sauce makes up for it. Also their sides are fantastic, especially the baked beans and Mac and cheese. The atmosphere in the place is very calm and relaxed with military memorabilia adorning the walls. At one point a confederate flag was hanging but it has since been brought down. Some other reviewers mentioned white supremacy stuff on the wall including the flag but I haven't seen anything remotely close to that. The owner goes out of his way to greet everyone that comes in and overall seems like a great guy. The staff is always super friendly and the service is great. I love the smoked meats, the brisket is my favorite ..But I have tried them all. The desserts are also amazing. I love the blackberry cobbler & bread pudding.Those go quickly, so ask early! Great BBQ (first time here to eat which was a carry-out order)... I think their BBQ is much better than another nearby BBQ eatery whose name I won't mention here. Friendly staff. A couple of reasons at this point I've not picked 5 stars. They don't have a menu on-line or a copy of a menu available to take home for call-in/carry-out orders. That would be a big help if they added that feature. I took a pic of the menu sheet with my phone. Also, their menu states 'Cole Slaw Optional' on the sandwich items. I asked for Cole slaw on my BBQ but didn't get it,,, discovered this when I got back home. I ordered two (2) platters (1 pork & 1 chicken)... you get two sides with a platter order and they were excellent. Not sure how you can get the slaw on the side for the BBQ sandwich... maybe you have to call for it as one of the 2 sides. Neither of the 2 side selections I chose were slaw. I expected to possibly have to pay for the "Optional Slaw" for the sandwich as shown on their menu but, either way, even though I asked for the 'Optional Slaw' for the BBQ, I didn't get it. Otherwise... for the first visit... impressed with the food. Very good! Worth a try for sure. Oops.. almost forgot... you might want to take a light jacket with you... the take-out side I went into was colder than a well-digger's lunch bucket... was probably the same on the 'Dine In' side too since they're attached. And, as a Vietnam Army Combat War Veteran myself... was impressed with the Veteran memorabilia displayed on the walls. The brisket and Mac and cheese are untouchable. The food is prepared and smoked daily as well. Friendly staff, fresh, and good food. Would 100% recommend. An entrée with a drink runs you in the $11 range. (I.e.: Brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese side and a sweet tea). Takeout seems to be a tad more pricey depending on the volume of food. read more

Excellent food. I had the ribs and some wings....outstanding. My wife had the pulled pork. She said it was great as well. The server was very friendly, and the place was clean. You can often predict the cleanliness of the kitchen, by the cleanliness of the restroom. I checked it out and the restroom was spotless. Definitely put this one on your bucket list. read more
