This place is hell on earth. The people here are the lowest of low. They first said we needed a registration receipt to pick up the car from being towed but magically made this go away if we paid them more money. It felt like I was in a foreign country, a real shake down. These people live a miserable life so I guess I can not blame them too much. I can see why they have bullet proof glass up in the reception area. This place is the opposite of delightful. They seemed to enjoy watching my daughter worry about finding the "paper registration" when it only took a minute to look it up in their computer. My daughter also had a valid drivers license and they still required her to text them her OU student ID. Why was that necessary? When you are already dealing with an upset kid that wasn't aware she had parked part of her car in a tow away zone and is now paying for it, why not try to help them out instead of make them feel stupid or afraid they aren't going to be able to take their car. I could hear the entire conversation because she had me on the phone the entire time. read more

NEVER call these people to help you if you're locked out of your car. Whoever helped me took forever to get there and then failed continuously to open my car. It took him a good 40 minutes to figure out how to unlock the door (other locksmiths in the past have taken under 5 minutes). AND I ended up having to do half the work myself. Took all I had not to explode with frustration. Not worth the $50 I had to hand over after the whole ordeal was finally over. Never again calling L&A Wreckers for help. read more

My car was totaled and towed here so I was going to stop by this evening and get my things out of it before my insurance company came and got it in the morning. I called just to make sure it was ok that I stop by and the lady on the phone was extremely unprofessional and then told me that in order for me to get my belongings out of my car at 9pm I would have to pay $15... what? To me that just makes no sense especially if I'm paying to have my car there and it is, in fact, my car. I called back a little while later (same lady answered the phone) and asked if someone could please call me if my insurance company just so happened to come and get my car before 8am (because that's when they stop charging you $15) and she was extremely rude and told me that no one would call me because they "don't do that". Overall, if you're going to have your car towed in Norman there are many other better places to call. Customer service is extremely poor and they are truly just trying to get every cent out of you that they can. Would not recommend. read more

Had a car towed from Norman to N Moore last weekend. I'm not sure what the "going rates" are for wrecker service, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not offended by no nonsense talk, because I speak that way also. But the dispatch and the driver on initial contact was straight to the point. When the driver arrived at my house, he was polite and courteous, I paid by credit card, and that was that. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again if needed. read more

I get that they probably deal with some folks who are irate over having their car towed, but they escalate that through an unbelievable level of rudeness and complete lack of understanding. I have had the "pleasure" of their services a few times, thanks to AAA. Each time, the driver has been rude, foul tempered, and late. I understand time schedules between 3rd party and service don't always line up, but 45 minutes past the 1 hour estimated? Whatever. But my real problem is how these guys drive. I have had several close calls with l&a trucks. The other day, I was waiting 4 cars back at a stop light and had a wrecker fly past me on the shoulder and right on through the red light. Were his brakes out? I've seen their trucks back into mailboxes, road signs, it's like they drive with total reckless abandon. If it weren't for AAA, I seriously would never even consider calling L&A and advise no one else should either. read more

I'm not sure a million bad reviews could explain how unprofessional this business is. They found every reason they could possibly find to not release my ex wife's car to her, and when they didn't have one, they created one. Every time she brought the documents they said she needed, they would say they weren't good enough or had forgotten to tell her about something else they needed. No doubt they were trying to stall as long as possible to get as many charges as they could out of someone else's misfortune. I tried to help her, and the guy at the front desk was a complete and total jerk. The lady at the tag office next door even said that they had come over the day before and yelled at her and said hurtful and unprofessional things. Total crooks, and really just bad human beings, in my opinion. I would walk 10 miles uphill in a snowstorm with my ex-wife on my back before I chose to do business with them. read more

Terrible company. Unprofessional and and unhelpful. They have some very discriminating and rude workers that try to give you a hard time for no reason . I came to get my belongings out of my car after being towed & provided them with the necessary information to get my belongings out the car (Title, Registration, license, etc.) & the continued to profile and descriminate me while being very rude and unprofessional! they eventually let me get my things because they knew there were in the wrong & being very discriminatory and just piss poor people overall. My son called for someone to jump his battery in downtown Norman. Guy showed up with his battery pack and "tried" unsuccessfully. When we spoke to him all he would say was that his jump pack was powerful enough to charge 4 cars and that it must be his alternator. Not wanting my kid and his girlfriend to be stranded almost an hour from home, we drove up at 11:30 at night, on New Years Eve, to get them. We brought cables to try jumping just in case, and it fired up after being hooked up to my husbands truck for less than a minute. So my kid was out $60 and 2 hours of stress. I feel like with maybe a tad more effort the tech would've been able to get it going. Admittedly there was some corrosion on the terminals so we had to wriggle the cables a bit before we tried starting, but we were able to jump it right off and get him headed safely back home. Learned a lesson on who NOT to call if stranded in Norman. I called to let them know the situation and wasn't offered a refund. I would've been happy with even a partial refund since they did do the call-out, but I won't be using or recommending this company in the future. read more

I had the best experience I have ever had with a tow truck company today. Drew was my driver he showed up quickly after I put in the call, was quick efficient and handled every last detail. He got my vehicle out of a pretty tight spot and was absolutely professional the entire time. read more

Broken down in the middle of nowhere oklahoma and we were referred to L&A. They told us they would have a wrecker out to get us in 30-40 minutes. We waited over an hour and I finally called just to check in and see where our truck might be. She said she didn't even have a driver in the area and didn't know when she could get one out to us. She never thought to call us and let us know that the original eta wasn't going to happen and just let us sit outside and wait. We're trying to get to our family for the holidays just like everyone else, so we understand it's a busy time of year, however it would have taken two seconds of their time to give us a courtesy call with more info. Called the next place and they had a wrecker out to get us in less than 20 minutes. read more

I needed a tow, and promptly called my roadside assistance company to handle it for me. The company told me that L&A Wrecker would handle it, but there would be a $39 additional fee because I was only covered for the first $50. They told me I could pay for it with a debit card over the phone, or wait and pay the tow company when they picked the car up. Since I didn't have any cash on me, I decided to pay for it with my debit card. The tow was scheduled with L&A and we hung up. Then I get a call from Cory at L&A saying that I needed to pay $27 for the tow to take care of the overages. As you can see there is a discrepancy in price. I can see that since my towing company probably chargers more to pay for their service. Obviously, the bigger problem, however, was that I had already paid the overage charge with my roadside assistance company. Cory would not believe me and kept telling me " I do these tows all day, every day and this is how all of them are handled." I said, well it sounds like an issue with you and my roadside assistance company. He would not call them and handle it, and so I had to call the company back and have them call Cory and explain what the procedure is. I listened on 3 way and it went exactly how I kept telling him. He was very hard headed and wouldn't listen. After he found out he was wrong, I guess he got embarrassed and the only thing he knew to do to "get at me" was to cancel the tow. I called back and was told they denied my tow. What an extremely immature thing to do. Oh well, I ended up going through RR Recovery Towing service and they were much cheaper in price and they even told me some horror stories about L&A. Avoid L&A anytime you need a tow. **edit - as you can see by the owner's reply below, there is still miscommunication. I don't expect your company to work for free. Thus the reason why I paid the $39 overage fee, which is a price negotiated by the wrecker company and my road side assistance company. This money goes to the tow company. I was being told I needed to pay a 2nd overage fee. Which I was trying to explain over and over to Cory, and was finally explained to him by my road side assistance company. read more

I called to have a non-operable vehicle towed to my house. The dispatch lady was very rude from the beginning, but eventually, she decided a dated receipt from the day prior was sufficient evidence that I wasn't towing a vehicle that still had an unpaid bill from the shop. Understandable, but who wants to be treated like a criminal for trying to get their car a mile down the road? If you say you will accept the receipt, than politely honor your word, or else politely refuse to until the shop reopens on monday. This rude lady was a delight compared to the driver though. When the tow truck driver arrived, boy was that a treat. In the process of getting the vehicle home, which was literally about a mile, he mentioned several times that he would rather just take it to the junk yard. I'm glad that wasn't his decision to make! I asked him why, and he told me "because it's a f***in' clown car." He also kept telling me the city of Norman would impound it because it doesn't run, and "because it looks bad." I explained that it is black tagged and in a private drive, and he told me it doesn't matter. Hmm, I wonder if I can guess who called the city if and when I do get a notice. I realize people have different tastes and varying levels of knowledge about vehicles, but this has no bearing on getting the job done. I would even use the word threatening to describe the conversations with this driver. Certainly, I cannot call back and let them know unless I want my vehicle vandalized by this angry individual. When it was time to get it off the truck and into it's parking place, it apparently wasn't as easy as he wanted it to be, and he told me "I'm going to have to call another f***in' driver!" He was not happy when he came back, as there were apparently no available drivers to help. I'm not sure what two tow trucks in a tight space would have done for us anyways. We pushed the vehicle together, and luckily he was gone in a matter of minutes after that. To make a long story short, you should probably just call another towing company if you don't want the souring experience I described above. If you do find yourself in a pinch and needing their services, you better hope the driver likes the looks of your vehicle. If he doesn't, don't foolishly have him tow it to your house like I did. It was too late for me, but hopefully someone heeds this warning. I'm sure this isn't the end of this episode for me. I will post more if this continues to unfold. If a friend with a truck would have been available, I would much much much rather have towed it home myself with a towing cable than do business with L and A Wrecker again. read more

Son had an accident. Insurance contacted this company to pick up car and deliver it to body shop. Received a text saying they would be there at 12:30 a.m. Next morning, no one could find the car. They had delivered it to the wrong place. Worst part is they hadn't picked it up until the next afternoon. When I first called, the person on the phone said they had never received a request from GEICO. (Lie #1). Then he miraculously found it, telling me it had been delivered to the right place. (Lie #2). I will now contact GEICO and ask them to quit using this company. read more

A dear friends recent experience! "L&A wreckers picked up my daughters car last night because it was parked overnight near campus. I was told that I couldn't pick up the car because my husbands name is on the title but if he faxed them a letter saying that he authorizes in a notarized letter that they would let me pick it up. They didn't like the unfriendly close to the letter and started yelling, punched the glass at me, flipping me off, cussed me out, and kicked me out of their building. I was shocked. Never had another adult ever speak to me like this, especially a business. It was like a scene out of Jerry Springer but I didn't know my script to play along. Apparently, Nick and the man working there crossed words earlier. L&A was very rude to him. Not an ounce of professionalism to this company. I am waiting for the police now. Abhorrent. We were waiting for two hours, called several times requesting an ETA, and finally were told at the end of the two hours that nobody had left to come for us yet. Being able to communicate with your customers is important especially when most consider to be in the middle of a personal emergency. read more

As the owner of a car the same age as I am, I have had the pleasure of dealing with numerous towing companies in the past year I've been in Norman. This most recent occasion, I knew the signs before I parked that as soon as my car shut off, I would not be able to start it again. I didn't have the opportunity to call Mercedes roadside assistance until this evening, but after I did, I was very surprised to know that rather than the usual 4 hour ordeal of getting my car towed to the dealership in Oklahoma City, my tow would be at my vehicle within 45 minutes. Just a half hour later, the tow truck arrived and I went through the usual line of questions asked to prevent the tow driver from towing a car that works just fine for an idiot (in this case, me) who doesn't know anything about their car. The tow driver had me shift into neutral and try to start my car, which was still dead, and then I popped the hood so he could try to jump it, which also didn't work. I am incredibly grateful that the driver ("Ray") was familiar enough with older vehicles to know that because one of the fuses for the headlights had blown, my car would not start. He replaced the fuse from within the same fuse box under my hood and the problem was fixed! He saved me hundreds of dollars and a whole lot of time and heartache. Thank you so much, "Ray". I profoundly appreciate your knowledge of vehicles and now I know what to do next time this happens! read more

When our family of 6 broke down on IH-35 just north of Norman, OK, we looked up the closest towing company and found L&A. They were kind enough to send out a truck with enough room for all our kids in the surprisingly clean truck. The driver was exceedingly kind and towed us to Sears and waited while their mechanics made a quick call that they wouldn't be able to help. Then he towed us to a nearby repair shop and dropped us off at a hotel, while only charging us for 1 tow. And all this with a great attitude. I hope this situation never happens to you, but if it does, I hope you can find people that are half as kind. read more

Had to call L&A to pull my tractor and baler out of a mud hole. The ladies on the phone were very responsive and updated me as I was waiting on the wrecker to show up. When the driver (Scott) arrived, he was very professional and courteous, even though it was late in the day and he had been on numerous calls already. He worked with me to ensure there was no damage to my equipment. I would recommend him and L&A Wrecker Service to anyone needing a wrecker. They did an excellent job at a reasonable price for what I challenged them with. read more

this company is a joke. had my car towed to my mechanics building with a dead battery. the next morning showed up very early to talk to him and found that the tow driver had left my keys in the ignition and ignition key had been snapped off. this is a lexus key and the cost is $90 to have it replaced. i was willing to just call it even (tow charge was $67....so i would be out an extra $23 but just didn't want any more hassle with them). when i spoke to the owner and suggested this offer, she started yelling at me on the phone and telling me i was part of a SCAM?! what scam would that be? instead of paying the $67 to L&A, i would pay $90 to lexus? i must be some sort of genius! she was rude and crass. i've never been spoken to by a business owner like that in my life and will NEVER do business with them again. deal with them at your own risk and the risk of your property. read more

I've never needed a tow in Norman, OK. When my daughter's car started acting up (again), I knew we were taking a chance driving it from mid-town Norman to Firestone on NW 36th. But. Her car made it last time! Not this time. I went to her house and followed her in case anything happened. It did. Our worst nightmare. Her car stalled at a MAJOR intersection here in Norman; the turn lane at 24th Ave NW and Robinson. Not just unfortunate. Potentially dangerous, with the amount of traffic that intersection serves. Googled towing services. L&A came up. What a lucky catch in the middle of this bad dream turned real. Samm answered the phone, got all the necessary info in short order and told me he'd be on his way ASAP. He called, enroute, to reconfirm exact location. I'd say no more than 10, maybe 15 minutes, had passed between my initial call and Samm showing up and getting to work securing my daughter's car on the tow truck. He followed us to Firestone, coordinated with the personnel there for a drop off point, got the car off and informed Firestone of the charges so they could be included in that bill. In all of our conversations, Samm was very respectful and upbeat even in this bad situation. He was quick, courteous, and L&A charged a very reasonable price for their services.
