Mortally afraid and running on pure adrenaline, I did the unthinkable. I simply opened my yelp app and found A1 repair by filtering hours open and proximity to our location. Even now as I recall the event, I am shocked at how rational I was behaving under such extenuating circumstances. But I digress. The time was was 7:55 pm on a Friday night. We were 13 minutes away. Yelp indicated A1 closed at 8 PM. We weren't gonna make it. We were going to be stranded on a desert highway with nothing but sasquatch and axe murdered to keep us company at night. While us men were busy occupying ourselves with how we were going to fight off mythical creatures at night, suddenly, our female in the car did the impossible: she called Jasen, the friendly service technician, to see if he wouldn't mind staying open for another ten minutes, due to our obviously dire needs. Generously and professionally, he agreed and promptly help us to diagnose our check engine light, which turned out to be only a minor thing and nothing that couldn't wait til the next service appointment at the dealership. I specifically put the time frame I could make it and was given a 90 minute window. When the guy didn't show up on time I called. The guy just continued to repeat himself like I was a complete fool. For one if your guy is running late you need to contact customer and let him know. Two you apologize at least and provide an estimated time of arrival. Three your hire another person to answer the phone and follow one and two. The guy finally showed up. No apology for running late but whatever. The tow in itself took forever for the guy to get car on truck. Not sure if this was a new person or he was just being paid by the hour. Never seen it take so long to tow a car. Never again. This was at 10:40pm, and contact was made at 11:oopm via text. About every 15 minutes, another text was sent saying they were on way. At midnight, the last text informed the driver that they would NOT be coming and to leave the keys in the unlocked car's center console. This left a teenage girl alone in a parking lot at midnight in a strange city. Contacted them again at 4:40pm the following day to pick the car. Was informed the tow truck would be there at 6:30pm. Around 7:30pm we were informed the driver needed to get a windshield wiper and the would be on the way. An hour later, still no tow truck. No contact until I contacted VW USA and complained again. By this time the dealership is closed, so no repairs can be made. Nearly 20 hours later, still no truck, but might be on the way. Had VW USA send a tow truck from another town, so we'll see who gets there first. This company is worthless and put a young girl in a scary situation. Their advice to leave the keys in the unlocked car is irresponsible. If your insurance or roadside assistance company uses this company, refuse and demand anyone else. Update: Edge/Steadfast contacted the driver and said they were 32 minutes away and enroute. 50 minutes later the second tow truck finally appear and took care of the car.
