(7B) Japanese Curry Ramen W. Tonkatsu

The table was clean, all of the condiment were filled up when we got to our table. The servers were all so nice to us, they served our drinks and food fast. Our food was amazing to top it off, will definitely come back and order the same food again!

Tonkotsu miso This is a mostly east coast / midwest chain but this is my first time trying it so I gave it a go. My friend frequents this place and she says the wait can be long on weekends, but on a Thursday prime time 7pm, there were lots of tables available. We shared the hybrid ramen that feature tonkotsu and miso and the omurice with katsu and curry sauce. Food portions are huge for the price; you can actually get full from one dish by sharing with someone. The ramen is good but not fantastic; the 2 soups in 1 bowl was pretty cool since I got to try more variety, but it didn't really quite hit. I do like their slightly torched chashu that many places don't put the effort to do but it makes a huge difference. I liked the tonkotsu side a lot more with the flavor profile. The omurice was pretty delicious - runny egg with decent katsu sauce. The omurice was a combo so we were able to get a drink for free (we chose lemonade), but the drink was way overly sweetened. I love the service as the food is not only good and comes fast, but also the server asked if we wanted to take pictures and videos of the omurice presentation. We obviously said yes, and it was a nice show. It was nice of him to ask since a lot of places don't go a little above and beyond for these clientele.

This location has cute, private booths, separated by curtains. When you're ready to order, press the "order" button on the wall. We loved all our food. The combos come with your choice of lemonade or Thai iced tea - both of which were 7-year-old approved. While there were no kids' options, I ordered plain vegetable ramen and she was satisfied. The teriyaki rice burger was so good and light, but filling! Very cute lunch spot or date night out.

Went here on a Thursday night and it was packed! We had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table for 4, and they wanted us to be seated so they just sat us at the bar. For appetizers, we got okonomiyaki, which is a Japanese Style pan-fried pancake topped with okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and dried green seaweed. It was soft, with a little crunch, but felt like it needed more flavor inside the pancake. The 6 pieces of takoyaki that we got tasted more flavorful then the okonomiyaki. Takoyaki is savory Japanese pancake ball with octopus inside, topped with dry bonito flakes, aonori, mayo and teriyaki sauce. My entree was the Yinyang bowl, which is two ramen flavors separated into one bowl. The side that is one more red and spicy is the Chashu pork ramen, and the side with the shrimp tempura in it is called the shrimp tempura ramen. The broth used is pork broth. It is also served with scallops, corn, egg, Naruto maki, bamboo shoots, and scallions. I loved the ramen, it was the best of both worlds, very flavorful. I do prefer the spicier side.

This place really exceeds the mark- down to custom chopstick holders, authentic ramen shop booths with curtains where you press a button when ready, and of course packed with flavor. I got the yingyang, which I loved to see something like this on the menu since I often want two of something. Both sides were delicious. Best bamboo shoots I've ever had, somehow those almost stole the show. I tried my moms katsu curry too, delicious. Would definitely return!!

Look no further if you're looking for delicious ramen in the burbs. Located in downtown oak park, this cute ramen restaurant will leave you full and super satisfied. They have private booths that give you a much different ambiance to your meal. Each private booth has a service button you can push when you need your server. They are still very attentive to you tho. The food was amazing. I got the Tokyo Tonkatsu. The broth was so rich and full of flavor. Just an umami bomb in a bowl! We also ordered the crispy rice fried chicken sandwich and okonomiyaki. Both so delicious. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I like how they offer combo meals as well. So glad I was finally able to make it into Kyuramen and it won't be the last time either.

Squid salad is fresh and tasty. The veggies are crunchy and great. I alway order it.

Ramen is just ok. I wish there was more soup. It was a tasty bowl of noodles. I had to eat my way to the liquid. Cold service, in a frantic rush. I was the first customer why? I love ramen, this is ok. Spicy pork is not spicy. Popcorn chicken was not edible. Thirty dollars wasted I still need lunch.

My family likes to eat in unique places. This restaurant is one to experience. The place is small but interesting. The decor looks like you're in Japan except you don't sit on the floor. It has enclosed cubicles so you don't see the other customers. The service was great. We didn't have to wait long for our food to be served and they all tasted good. My husband and I ordered the meal for 2 which included an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. We will definitely go back when we visit Oak Park again.

So... we have been here multiple times because my oldest son loves their ramen. I have had their ramen a couple of times and it was ok. But not a huge fan. So I went last night because my son wanted to go, and thought I would order something new. I saw a new item on the menu, a Seafood Kamameshi. I was excited to try it because I love scallops, shrimp and eel! When I told the waitress my order, she said we don't have that. I was perplexed so inquired further. Supposedly they never got the cooking device needed to make it! So why is it on the menu? I then asked if I could get the Yakitori platter and wanted to chose the 5 skewers since I don't like pork belly or beef... but she said no. It is a preset 5 skewers, no substitution. Ack!!! So now what to order. I've had the Honeycomb Platter before and liked it, so ordered that. She then informed me they do not have scallops (). I asked what would be substituted for the scallops, and she said more seaweed salad. Really? Seaweed salad and scallops are NOT comparable! Which I told her. But she didn't seem to care. I asked if I could get shrimp, but she said there was already shrimp on the platter. At this point I was VERY frustrated but my kids were getting embarrassed and told me to let it go.. which I did for them. But... am very disappointed in the whole experience. They should not be using a menu with items they cannot make, unless they let you know when they give you the menu what is not available. I noticed other reviews with negative opinions on the service... and now I can agree. The waitress was unapologetic and unwilling to make a comparable change. Will think twice before going back.

First time in Oak Park and we wanted to stop in since Kyuramen is right out of Japan. Husband got the Spicy Tonkatsu combo with a pork bao bun and Thai tea, and I got the spicy twin bowl, which was half Shio and half Tonkatsu. The flavors for both were really good! The spice they used for each was different, so each half was unique. I also got the twin drink, which is half thai tea and half amazing lemonade. The Thai tea wasn't too sweet, and the amazing lemonade was just the right amount of sweet and sour. We also got the mackerel appetizer. The fish pieces were chunky, and we put the saurkraut spicy veggies on top. Service was super fast, and ambience was nice and quiet as we were seated in a covered booth.

Friendly service. Cute little booth/rooms Excellent choice in menu Food was very tasty. The broth was flavorful and there was a difference in flavors. I really enjoyed the ability to do half and half. I've never seen that before. This place is fun. I would totally come back.

**parking is a bit hard to snag as street parking is hard to come by and closest parking "lot" isn't very large. Free parking on Sunday!!** Super cute place and was my first eat stop on my Chicago trip. I was quickly seated as it was just me and I was put at the bar which was nice and quiet away from the majority of parties in the front. This is like your traditional ramen place where you rely on a call button to bring service to you via the buttons for: order, pay, call in general, or cancel the call. It's nice to be left alone and not checked on or asked anything during your meal. The ramen was super delicious and very rich broth. Usually most places always feel like they're missing something, but this was very flavorful! Meat is super tender and fell apart when tried to pick up, which is great in my opinion, at how well it was cooked and quality. Egg was nicely cooked as well. Gyoza was pan fried and not too dry but not too chewy. Sauce wasn't too strong so I wish it was a bit more flavorful. I had to dip the whole thing in to try and get enough sauce to taste. They're very fast with the service despite all tables being taken except only me and one couple at the bar. Definitely will be back if I come through Chicago again!

I stopped in for dinner with my roommates to Kyaramen and was amazed with how amazing every single dish tasted! The chicken Baos were my favorite and I could honestly just keep eating them lol. I'm probably going to start craving this place and have to come back sometime soon! Staff was also very attentive and fast. The food came out fast as well and served hot and fresh. 100000% recommend!!

What I love most is the versatility...you have the traditional sit-down dining area, and then on the other side (toward the back/left), there's the hibachi grill. Whether you're in the mood to relax and be served or want something fresh off the grill, you've got options. Now, I'll be honest, the line can get long, especially on Sundays right when they open at noon. But it's absolutely worth the wait. Everything is fresh and made to order, and I've never had a bad experience here. Some of my go-to favorites include the egg foo young, Mongolian beef, spicy egg rolls, and spicy crab rolls...but honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is always friendly and welcoming, which makes a difference. The atmosphere has a little bit of buzz to it, but it's not overwhelming, you can still enjoy your conversation without feeling like you're shouting over noise. Overall, this is a five-star go-to spot for me. Consistent, flavorful, and reliable every single time. Honestly, you will be better off going to an Asian market like H-Mart and buying frozen dim sum and making it at home . . . or maybe that is exactly what they actually serve here. The dim sum here is very small in size and lack flavor. Sui mais are usually pork and shrimp wrapped dumplings. These were small and filled with mushy shrimp. The bean curd roll had no flavor and was smaller than a cannoli. What they serve is outrageous and an insult to anyone who has had "real" dim sum. The sticky rice actually had some flavor with minimal savory filling and was the only thing passable on the menu. If you are desperate in having dim sum, I guess Sweet Dim Sum would fit the bill. Definitely, lower your expectations though on the quality and quantity of their dim sum. Sorry, but if I ever go back, it would be just to order their signature drinks. They couldn't mess that up, could they?

No, but Chinatown isn't that far of a drive, so it is disappointing that this Oak Park alternative wouldn't qualify as decent. When we walked in, there was a case of Mille crepe cakes, which looked homemade but didn't look very appetizing as they looked like pancakes stacked on and filled with whipped cream. We opted to try bubble teas and some savory dim sum. The cost of the soup dumplings was so astronomical that I could not justify purchasing four dumplings for $13.50. Also considering you can get a giant bag from Costco for that same price and it probably tastes better. The shrimp and chives cakes were honestly the best and they were just okay. The rice crepes were so bad. You can tell they were previously frozen and put into the microwave because it was falling apart. The shrimp was colorless. The veggie one we got was inedible; we sent it back. They wanted to make it right and gave us complementary mochi donuts. It was a nice gesture that we appreciated. We still ended up going to Katy's across the street because we did not feel like we had a sufficient dinner. There are no sauces here. If you ask, they'll give you the tiniest amount of sauce. There are also no chopsticks. Unless things really turn around, I'm inclined to save my money here and make the short trip to Chinatown.
