It is very unfortunate that Dr. Tessler is having such an issue with keeping people up at the front desk. We have been going almost a year and had a great experience, until now. The last few times I have been there, a new employee is training. It seems as if they are more worried about just a body filling the position rather than having a knowledgeable worker. We had a very disrespectful "secretary" call and said we missed an appointment. We had not missed an appointment; they had two appointments in their computer. No big deal, right? Should be able to resolve this with no problem. She continued that in no way could their office be wrong and tried to charge me a $50 fee with still no interest in listening to me and that there must be a mistake, but on my end only. Still, no big deal we can work out miscommunication, right? She then proceeded to accuse me of lying and said, "we have spoken to your son's dad and he confirmed today. You must be divorced or something!" Excuse me?!? My husband called a week ago to update payment information using his debit card and was told to come in on a certain day because that is when the financial gal was there. That had absolutely nothing to do with an appointment. Why on earth would she deem her words appropriate. When we went there to confront the situation, we were met by two ladies sitting at the front desk, while other patients and families were in the waiting room, talking about how rude WE were, and things shouldn't be so difficult. I'm sorry but playing the victim card doesn't work with me. I told her that was me and if you had more to say we can talk in a more appropriate setting. I requested to speak to Dr. Tessler and the "secretary" involved. The resolution we received was Dr. Tessler's husband, whom we have never met and didn't even introduce himself, coming out to see what's going on as she would not speak with us. He gave nothing but excuses for the employee and coddled this employee in the back room asking if she was ok. Dr. Tessler walked in and out of that room several times as well. She had time to check on this rude employee but not time to speak to us and apologize. How this situation was handled speaks volumes to me. There is absolutely no accountability, and an apology goes a long way. If we were not so far in my son's current care we would not be returning for another appointment. Not because of the secretary, I'm sure she will be gone soon, but the way this was handled by Dr. Tessler and her husband. read more

This office is amazing, Provider is awesome, scheduling is super hard and difficult. They do not have much flexibility, so if you can't adhere to their time lines, you end up waiting and taking off work/school. Definitely do not miss an appointment, they will tack on a ridiculous missed appointment fee, and hold you hostage for it read more

Upon visiting, I found the staff really pleasant and had a decent experience and thought they were wonderful. Unfortunately, neither I nor anyone in my family will ever visit again. They performed an X-ray on me that is not normal, and not something anyone gets at a yearly checkup or exam - decades of dental visits and I had never had this done before. They knew insurance wouldn't cover this and didn't discuss it with me before performing it, and took it without discussing it with me whatsoever. A total violation of trust. When I asked questions about this and brought it up, I was met with absolute rudeness and told to find another provider. They also were intending to charge nearly double for another procedure - a procedure I had been quoted for by other dentists at a consistent price and this office is charging nearly double what other dentists in the state are. Which is unacceptable, and when I brought that up I was talked down to. I am not happy to give bad reviews but if I am being taken advantage of then I'm sure there are others too. It is very disturbing and disheartening that a business would be cruel and manipulative to a customer for raising very fair questions and trying to get help and answers. I would suggest finding a practice that is more rooted in treating clients with respect and dignity and practices better ethics than this. read more

First spoke with them six days ago, and they were able to schedule my daughter for an exam/consult within the coming week, which was great. Before today's appointment, they contacted me five times (four text messages and one phone call) to confirm I was tracking the safety protocols for check-in, and to confirm I had submitted the appropriate new patient forms, which I had submitted earlier. Check-in was fine, but when my daughter was in the back getting x-rays, the tech comes to me and says that because I'm the stepfather, as indicated on the patient form (submitted four days prior), they couldn't continue with the appointment unless I had paperwork immediately available regarding custody. Okay, I get the legal/liability aspect for the business on this topic, but for Kyle Orthodontics to go out of their way five times to contact me about appointment and paperwork verification, you'd think they could've used some of that energy to read my submitted paperwork before the appointment and let me know of the custody paperwork requirement before I got there. Personal schedules were rearranged, my kid was pulled out of school early to make it to the appointment, and it was all a wasted effort because some tech didn't read the new patient paperwork. Maybe Im the anomaly, but my familys experience here with Dr Tessler was terrible. She made the wrong plan of treatment for my daughter.. suggesting a $1500 expander, which didnt work and she (Dr Tessler) threw away a month later. Then told us that we needed to have 4 of her teeth pulled @ $175 each. ... when we asked her to give us a minute to recover, she closed our case and insurance claim. Leaving my daughter untreated. She is the most unprofessional orthodontists Ive been to. I have 2 other daughters that have had braces, now with beautiful smiles. Good at orthodontics...I think... bad at how they do business. I took my daughter at the referral of her dentist, we did the treatment plan I paid for her records and the down payment before they even did anything, that's fine whatever. Then I was put on a payment plan according to what my insurance would cover and what my responsibility would be. They over shot by several months thinking my daughter would have her expander on for longer than she actually needed it, so long story short there were a couple appts we went to that they demanded $793 (balance) right then and there, and i wasn't made aware of this when THEY called ME to confirm the appt. they conveniently left that (money) part out. So when I took my daughter out of school and I missed work to drive from San Marcos to Kyle for her appointment they told me I had to pay and when I couldn't of course her appt got rescheduled. My daughter was upset and cried and I was pissed because they had us thinking they would remove the expander and continue to let us pay our monthly payments, but nope. This happened more than once. The second time my balance was down to $640ish so I paid it , again without them telling me they would refuse to move forward (and this was right before Christmas) They did the retainer impression finally but couldn't remove expander yet. Fast forward to my daughter first retainer check appt, So when my daughter told me about a field trip, I rescheduled the same day which is "against contract policy" and they charged me $50 which i am refusing to pay because of the run around they've given me. But am I under contract if it's been paid in full? I just love how they make everything to their convenience. And of course it's Dr Tessler since she runs this circus. read more

Great orthodontist when you can actually get an appointment. They claim to be "backed up" and "at capacity" every time we visit but have never seen more than 3 kids in the back and very few in the waiting room. If you are more than 5 minutes late, they will cancel your appointment and push you back a whole month even if the service is basic and quick. Life happens, not everyone can be 20 minutes early to every appointment. Need better personal service and to understand their client's demands. read more

I came to Dr. Tessler from another orthodontist after I moved cross country. They honored my previous financial agreement (which was amazing), and have been nothing but welcoming and professional since! I would recommend, however (as with any orthodontist) , thinking of your questions and writing them down beforehand.
