Writing this review because as the dismal customer service providers move onto their next company management has an attitude that being kind and accommodating no longer matters. I was literally told that by, Malcolm. I asked him was he retiring you'd like to be employed again surely. I'm believe he gave me a fake last name when I told him I'd be reviewing this experience. My sales person Bouchra Drummond couldn't be bothered to stick around for the sale, so commission's conscious- I reduce the number of items I was planning to purchase from six to just one Laquan Smith top that had seen better days. I really hoped that someone could have attempted to remove the stains or offered a discount because it was the last one, but they refused. Eventually, after shopping, the mall some more I decided to come back for that top. I asked for the Manager explained how a pair of jeans I purchased the day before had a similar issue, but the store cleaned them and gave me a discount because the stain wasn't completely removed- & that's when Malcolm told me that whoever helped me previously was not an actual store manager, the discount that the sales person offered he couldn't match & at this point & What was offered he didn't even wanna give me. Reason being because I kept asking questions. I had to ask do you want me to stop talking. I also had to ask if he wanted to cancel the transaction because "that's a choice" but no he wanted that sale. I dont blame Mr Malcolm because he said Saks left him with no alterationists (now it's corporate and other managers have better offerings because they've been treated better. Which I can only hear as implied racism. So I'm standing up for your Mr Malcolm. But unfortunately not Bouchra Drummond or Fresh who literally threw the top at me when I asked her to wrap it. Mr Malcolm then clearly embarrassed now yelled at the lady to wrap the item. If this how they been carrying on good luck to the future employers. And Whew Saks. Things have gone mightily downhill. No respect for the customers OR THE BRANDS. Eeeyuck

The pieces here are flattering and designed to be both fun but functional/practical, which I appreciate. I see a lot of pieces I think my mom would adore. That said I have, at 33, found that there is one brand there in particular - Ciara Sun Woo - that is ideal for young professionals and I have bought two of this designer's dresses on sale. They use high tech fabrics that are curve flattering and the perfect balance between clingy and drapey, and also they are super work appropriate but can often go day to night and come in nuanced solid colors. The prices on accessories are very reasonable and the clothing, while a little pricey, comes from smaller lesser known brands and they also have good sales. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it's never crowded so you can shop at a leisurely pace. The only flaw is is the location in the Metro mall and I worry about how well any of the businesses are doing in there. I never go into that mall anymore and sometimes forget this shop is there but when I do remember I think, "oh yeah! That place is great I should stop in." So if you're in Rosslyn check it out and support one of the few remaining small businesses in an increasingly corporate, sterile neighborhood.

The store did have a line of 2 groups before we could get in. I do find the process of lining up outside the store a bit annoying and I am seeing more and more stores using this to show popularity or manage shoppers. We did have a good experience once we were finally allowed in the store. The sales consultants (trying to be fancy for a uber-fancy store) were very helpful and took time to show us the products and answer all the questions we had. After the expensive transaction, I asked for the gift card back because I knew the value was $100. The sales person replied the gift card had no money on it and that she had thrown it away. I didn't want to accuse the sales person of lying about the gift card value in front of her colleagues, so I left the store. Mistake! When I got home and looked at the receipt, I saw the gift card did indeed have a remaining balance of $19.76. Be careful! Check your receipt carefully before you leave the store and get the gift card back if you have any concerns.

When they moved to McLean earlier this year, I went with about 20 items to put up for consignment. (I had made appointment as they require.) I brought in beautiful clothes, in excellent condition. They took the boxes to the back to inspect the clothing and choose which they wanted to take for consignment; and while that was going on I browsed. I couldn't believe the downgrade in the clothing; while the quality was fine, I did not see anything stylish for sale. I was not even tempted to try anything on. After about 20 minutes the owner comes back and says she cannot take any of my items, although she would consider one in the fall (it was a spring/summer item, as were all the pieces, as this took place in mid-Spring) and I "could come back in a few months." Super dismissive and arrogant. The one good thing was the friendly young man at the counter, who I chatted with while I waited. I see the positive reviews here are years old, so here's an update: NTY management is just as or even more snobby now, the prices are even higher -- not just because of time passing but also likely the expensive location -- and they don't even have cool clothes any more.

The staff were visible and ready to help but not pushy. The inventory was well curated and full but not overly stuffed. I saw a number of nice sweaters and dresses that I liked, and I ended up buying one. Also a lot of fun gifts, jewelry, and assorted decor items. This store is geared toward an older crowd, which I really like. I'm past the age of shopping at some other resale boutiques that focus on only the trendiest items in juniors sizing. New To You is more JCrew and higher-end items. Prices seemed to be about 50 percent off original retail. Could you find some of these items thrifting? Sure, but it'd be like pulling a needle from a haystack. I'm willing to pay more for a tailored selection of good-condition items. I'll come back to shop here.
