I asked for the Manager explained how a pair of jeans I purchased the day before had a similar issue, but the store cleaned them and gave me a discount because the stain wasn't completely removed- & that's when Malcolm told me that whoever helped me previously was not an actual store manager, the discount that the sales person offered he couldn't match & at this point & What was offered he didn't even wanna give me. Reason being because I kept asking questions. I had to ask do you want me to stop talking. I also had to ask if he wanted to cancel the transaction because "that's a choice" but no he wanted that sale. I dont blame Mr Malcolm because he said Saks left him with no alterationists (now it's corporate and other managers have better offerings because they've been treated better. But I don't think I can do business with them now that they've left Bethesda. They picked up my coat for storage and took it to their Capitol Heights location where they did a treatment I didn't authorize. I spoke to the manager and he agreed that since I hadn't been informed and hadn't given permission, the cost would be taken off my bill. Trying to arrange for delivery of the coat, an assistant (who was part of the call where I was told I wouldn't be charged) kept trying to collect that fee from me. And she was very rude about my not having noticed wear and tear (I'm visually impaired) that they thought required costly repairs. She set up a delivery date with me, and the coat didn't come as scheduled, which I think was punishment from her. She just couldn't or wouldn't grasp the principle that you can't unilaterally decide to do something to somebody's property and send them the bill. When they had the storefront, I could try on my coat and review its condition with a salesperson, though I still always felt I was being upsold. Along the way I tried to find out from the manager whether it made sense to invest significant money repairing a coat that old, but got nowhere. Not sure what to do now. I do love the coat. But since I'm not likely to go anywhere this season, I guess I'll just let it hang.

That said I have, at 33, found that there is one brand there in particular - Ciara Sun Woo - that is ideal for young professionals and I have bought two of this designer's dresses on sale. They use high tech fabrics that are curve flattering and the perfect balance between clingy and drapey, and also they are super work appropriate but can often go day to night and come in nuanced solid colors. The prices on accessories are very reasonable and the clothing, while a little pricey, comes from smaller lesser known brands and they also have good sales. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it's never crowded so you can shop at a leisurely pace. The only flaw is is the location in the Metro mall and I worry about how well any of the businesses are doing in there. I never go into that mall anymore and sometimes forget this shop is there but when I do remember I think, "oh yeah! That place is great I should stop in." So if you're in Rosslyn check it out and support one of the few remaining small businesses in an increasingly corporate, sterile neighborhood.

I couldn't believe the downgrade in the clothing; while the quality was fine, I did not see anything stylish for sale. I was not even tempted to try anything on. After about 20 minutes the owner comes back and says she cannot take any of my items, although she would consider one in the fall (it was a spring/summer item, as were all the pieces, as this took place in mid-Spring) and I "could come back in a few months." Super dismissive and arrogant. The one good thing was the friendly young man at the counter, who I chatted with while I waited. I see the positive reviews here are years old, so here's an update: NTY management is just as or even more snobby now, the prices are even higher -- not just because of time passing but also likely the expensive location -- and they don't even have cool clothes any more.
