Jose worked very hard to finish painting and prepped the bathroom floor to install tile. This company's business model is disgraceful. They feed on the clients grief and emotions. They charge obscene fees and do unnecessary work. They find ways to massage your insurance company into paying for upgrades. The biggest factor on our insurance claim paying was due to the ridiculous fees they charged. This company was given to us by our insurance company. They arrived late, did not finish the job on the day they came so caused us to have to cancel our family planned weekend. They were told of asthma issues and yet still failed to make sure chemicals were safe to use before cleaning, resulting in mad dash to Emergency Room! To add insult to injury, they still didn't remediate all the damage which has resulted in additional urgent care/pediatrician visits for breathing issues for the adults and a 2 year old and 5 month old...and evacuation of the house. We are now living in a hotel (again) because they didn't do the job they were hired to do. Also, they wanted us to sign a release/agreement not to sue releasing them from all responsibility before they will reimburse any of the medical bills/expenses associated with their negligence. (Our insurance company has advised us not to sign it.) Now, this company has sent us notification of intent to file a lien against our home! Not cool, not customer friendly and not good business to hire. Oh, and to be clear, we have NEVER mentioned pursuing litigation, only they have! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEIR WORKERS WILL ROB YOU BLIND. My cousins insurance had them come out to replace asbestos after water damage. After reporting missing items the FIRST time, the company told them that they had trusted guys on the job but they would talk to the crew anyway. After that, all of their critical life paperwork was stolen (SS cards, birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc.) They again reported the theft and were told the company would remove the crew and replace them. The company either LIED about doing this, did not change the lock box code or have zero trustworthy employees as they were robbed a THIRD time. Finally they told the company they were not allowed in the house without an appointment. Now the company has finished the job and about one week later their front door was kicked at 2:00pm and the few valuable items worth taking left were stolen. Their house is in a nice area, neighbors have never had any of these issues and are the sweetest new family you could ever meet. We know the first three incidents were Abracadabra and the fourth likely was too. No one else would risk a robbery like that in the middle of the day without knowing what they wanted. This company is horrible. A job that should have taken a month at most ended up taking 6 months. The workers they sent to the house were actually fine but the project manager Carlos.....what a waste. He is lazy, doesn't return phone calls or emails. He lies about start dates and when he is confronted simply states that I can go somewhere else. This is of course after he's been paid. Above him is Travis. Talk about shady. All he did was mouth off about lawsuits if I spoke ill about their company. Incompetent and unprofessional. Run as fast as you can from this company. read more

I had a ceiling leak in my walk in closet. The insurance adjuster said he was 97% sure that they would cover the repair. Mario of Abracadabra came out and did the lead/asbestos testing and sealed up the closet. George of Abracadabra kept in touch with me every step of the way.The test came back positive for asbestos. The insurance company took 2 1/2 months to give me an determination on my claim. They denied the full claim. Abracadabra was kind enough to charge me only for the testing and not for the dehumidifier fan. and sealing of the closet. I would not hesitate to call the again if I had any kind of emergency. WARNING!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! The worst experience that I have ever had. They will take extreme advantage of your circumstances. I had a water heater pipe burst in my home while I was out of state due to an extremely serious medical emergency with my son. Knowing of my tragic circumstances, they took full advantage of me. I asked countless times for a scope of work so I could approve the charges which they never provided. They never gave me an update, not one time over the 5 MONTH ordeal!! They knew I was out of town so they took full advantage. I would call, text and email for updates and never hear from them. When I did hear from them, they were incredibly rude and uncaring. They repeatedly told me that they would not give me an estimate or a scope of work and kept saying they would work off the insurance estimate. Once they finally "finished" the mitigation, it was impossible to get repairs scheduled. Once they started the repairs, the cycle started all over again with no responses or updates. When I was finally able to leave my critically ill son to make a trip back to Tucson, I discovered that the house was a disaster. Debris was everywhere and my personal trash filled with the items that had charged me to haul away. It was clear that they had made the most minimal repairs possible. As a result, I had zero faith that they had completed any of the items that I couldn't see or verify. I finally hired an outside contractor to complete the work. They suddenly contacted me after 5 months wanting full payment for all of the repairs (well beyond the contract with a price that I was finally sent and signed). I then fought them for days. They threatened to place a lien on my property and to send me to collections despite the fact that they hadn't don't the work AND they were trying to get me to pay them all of the insurance allowance which did not match the only contract that I had ever signed with a price attached. The project Manager, Daniel, and the Arizona Vice President, Travis, were two of the most unprofessional and uncaring people that I have ever dealt with. I finally agreed to pay them according to the actual contract that I had signed just to have the whole ordeal come to an end. I have no doubt that had I not been aware of my rights and local laws, they would have threatened and bullied me into paying for A TON of work that they never did!! Save yourself and look elsewhere. Their entire business is based upon taking advantage of people during desperate times! Just disgraceful!!! read more

Forced me to take a day off work so they could come out and write an estimate. They said it would be ready by the following monday. Called Tuesday Wednesday and thursday leaving 4 un-returned voicemails. Finally got a call back friday and spoke with the manager who wouldn't even apologize for the lack of call back. Told me they would not provide me an estimate until after i signed a contract agreeing to do the work, dispite not knowing the cost. I cannot say enough bad things about this company. Watch out for these guys. They will come in quickly and have you sign a bunch of papers during your emergency. They will get immediate damages cleaned up but after that you can consider that nothing else will get done. You will stop hearing from them and they will stop communicating with you. Dont give them any money and dont let your insurance company send checks to them directly. Like me you will end up doing the work yourself. You cant even complain to these guys because they simply dont answer the phone, emails, texts,,,,nothing They appear like the savior and then disappear like a ghost. It all started out so well. Frankly, we expected that if there were going to be any issues it would be with the insurance company, not Abracadabra. When our upstairs neighbor's bathroom started leaking into our bathrooms, we called Abracadabra after reading positive reviews on Yelp and other sites. They came out quickly and did a hard-sell on beginning the work right away. As in, within the hour. Not wanting to sign a contract until we got the go-ahead from the insurance company, we declined. A whole lot of "this is a level 3 blah blah blah certain death" type lecture later, we still declined. Luckily, our insurance company very quickly approved, and work began right away. The driers. Oh, the driers. So, so loud. Eventually we had no use of our bathrooms because Abracadabra claimed there was asbestos in the walls, so we had to go to a hotel, but assured us we could be back in our home in about three days. When I read the reviews, there was much ado made of the care they took of belongings and furnishings. They left an antique runner in the hallway and they walked all over it and rolled dirty, heavy equipment on it. Didn't pick it up. When I documented the marks on the rug, they asked me for it, to clean themselves. I asked them if they had a person they used to clean antique rugs. No- they were going to do it themselves. Hahahahahahahahaha. No. They would come every few days, do one or two things, then disappear again. If I wasn't at the house, I wasn't getting updates. Once we moved into the hotel, work slowed considerably. Then stopped. Finally, after repeated contact with our job supervisor, we started slowly getting some work done. I rarely saw the same workers twice. I don't think I'm underestimating when I say I saw at least a dozen strangers in my home at various times. One worker made a racist joke about all the Mexicans at my house (was flabbergasted; did not respond). I would be told that one area was ready, only to inspect it and find that paint had been spattered on the wooden blinds, the shower head was off-center, as was the toilet. Our glass shower door was tweaked to where it wouldn't close completely. And that was just the work. Abracadabra was calling and billing me and my boyfriend separately no matter how many times we gave them our preferred phone number to reach us, and the party to address all billing to. Bills were never itemized, just a total. It took so, so many requests to get itemized billing. Double-charged for a couple items. They threatened to send our account to a collection agency WHILE STILL WORKING ON THE HOUSE. The right hand doesn't have a clue as to what the left hand is doing at Abracadabra. Remember that three day turnaround? We lived in a hotel room with a kid and a dog for about a month. read more

He coordinated with our insurance company and made sure we got the most bang for our buck. I tried this company for mold restoration and they made the situation worse than before they came. They have no idea what they are doing as far as mold work is concerned. They may be OK with carpet cleaning but do not have a clue on how to do containment etc. Unreliable did not show up. If you have a mold issue run don't walk way from this business!!!!! BEWARE! Abracadabra did restoration including a new roof on my house 4 years ago. The roof needs $1500 in repairs after only 4 years. Their warranty only lasts 2 years. Feeling very ripped off. Had these guys come out to clean up some water damage. As they were moving my furniture around they broke a mirror of mine. I was told they would take care of the damages by paying for a replacement. After several attempts to call have a check mailed to me I still have not received a thing. Every time I call they tell me they need a few more days.
