This was a massive, multi-month renovation that involved replacing and upgrading virtually everything in our home except the walls and windows. We communicated frequently throughout the process, and the team was always responsive, transparent, and committed to delivering outstanding results. They took exceptional care of our home throughout the popcorn ceiling removal, including changing our HVAC filters weekly to minimize dust. They even helped us repair a broken window that wasn't part of the project, and they showed remarkable patience and compassion in accommodating unexpected neurological challenges on our side. They handled every obstacle--including two unpredictable water issues and coordinating with our HOA as applicable--with professionalism, creativity, and a consistently positive attitude. Their craftsmanship is exceptional. Our custom fireplace is absolutely stunning, and the redesigned bathroom countertop and sink make much better use of the available space. Our homeowners insurance went through Poplin for water mitigation. The initial response for an estimate was fairly quick (next day), however when I was given a time they would arrive to begin the mitigation, they were several hours late. Once they finished the initial mitigation I was told they would get in touch with me on Sunday to remove the fans/humidifiers...fast forward to Thursday when I still hadn't heard from them. They finally got someone out on Friday, 5 days later than they said they would. At the same time I had contacted the receptionist about having someone out to also do a roof estimate, I was told I'd be called by end of business with a response - but you guessed it, 3 days later with no response I called back only to be told they were at least a month out with someone to get the roof repair estimate. Overall would not recommend; we only used them because that's who our insurance went through. read more

Hired poplin to fix some water damage in my home as well as stucco repair. Highly recommend!

My insurance company recommended this company, even though they are 2 hours away for my location, this I never understood. They did show up the day of the damage and took out the drywall and insulation, installed fans and a dehumidifier. After that is when we had issues. Being 2 hours away they started late and left early. The workmanship of them needs to be upgraded, the texture they tried to match didn't, the baseboards were left with sharp edges. The cabinets they replaced had to have a skin attached to match the color of the original ones, well they didn't get that right and had to come back to attach new skins. They removed an RO system from the sink cabinet and wouldn't put it back in. I tried to get a plumber to reinstall it and due to warranty issues they wouldn't touch it because they didn't remove it. I did finally get it reinstalled. After I told them were to get the same paint that was in our house and sent them a picture of the formula they used a different shade. Now I have two different shades of paints in our house. There was a lot of days that they couldn't work for one reason or another. Since we had to be out of the house while they did there work two storage boxes were put in front. After they pack us into these storage boxes did the work then unpacked us, somehow we are missing some items. Not saying or accusing anyone or anything just stating facts, we are missing things. In my personal opinion I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. read more

You guys should probably not allow your employees to use company vehicles if they aren't going to be professional in them. Your employees are at Jack in the box drive thru's at 2am, hanging out the windows and yelling so loudly about what types of "bad bitches" they like, using extremely vulgar language, and talking negatively about the people in cars around them in the drive thru area. If I didn't know any better, I'd think your men took your company truck out for a night on the town. I'd remind your workers that they represent your brand when they are driving that truck regardless of the time of day or day of the week! read more

We had a wind burst that damaged our carport and roof. Poplin was recommended by our insurance company and we were delighted with the work they did. They were quick to estimate and get the job dobe. Let me begin by stating upfront that I am an interior designer and own and operate a commercial interior design business here in Tucson, AZ, so I'm very familiar with the design & construction process and the trades involved and I am super particular! We had water damage to one of our restrooms and since we had intended to eventually remodel both our restrooms, master bedroom, home office and laundry room, we expanded the scope to include all 5 spaces. Despite the inherent challenges that come with building during industry wide shipping delays and material shortages, Poplin Construction did an amazing job keeping the project on track. From beginning to end, the project took roughly 12 weeks to complete. Our project manager, Kylie Sweet, took great care to ensure that the project stayed on track and when there were issues that needed resolving, Kylie was quick to respond and make it right. Kylie was quick to respond to any and all questions and when an issue came up, she was quick with a solution. For instance, our millwork was delayed and not due to ship for several months. Kylie secured a local cabinet maker who crafted two custom vanities. The vanities, by the way, are beautiful! I work from home, so I interacted with the trades on a daily basis. The entire Poplin Crew was extremely professional, polite, respectful (I couldn't get them to even use my first name!), and a complete pleasure to have around. At the end of each day, the crew left the job site in pristine condition. Other than a minor issue with a couple members on one of the two tile installer teams, I would not hesitate to welcome them back to our home! Our next project will be a complete kitchen remodel. You can bet that I'll invite Poplin Construction to help us with this next adventure! I have since recommended my closest friend, who also happens to be an interior designer, to go with Poplin for her insurance claim work and she too is very satisfied with the workmanship and the final results! read more

If I could give them a zero, I would. I have filed a complaint with our insurance company warning them of their practices. We hired them to extract black mold from under the kitchen sink, should have been a fairly easy job. They destroyed the custom cabinet in the process, one cabinet. Because it was custom they proposed, and got approval from our insurance company to replace the entire kitchen cabinets... $22,000. I put the brakes on it! Found a local custom cabinet guy & he is working to get it done! $5,000 total with extra cost of the damage poplin caused. Poplin entirely pulled out of the job leaving us with plumbing, drywall & electric to get complete the job. The house has been without a kitchen sink for over 2 months. read more

I used Poplin for a homeowners insurance claim through USSA for a fire that happened at my house. The experience was awful. I had a house fire, and they disposed of the evidence that was being kept for the fire investigator. This ruined my chances any litigation. They got paid and left a mess in my backyard. I had to call and text several times before someone came out to finish cleaning. Now the stucco repair is cracking, and they are telling me that it is not their work. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

We scheduled a free estimate with Poplin Construction for August 17 to inspect a roof leak in our garage with resulting interior damage to the insulation and drywall. Shane came and performed the inspection and stated he would have quote to us via email by that day or the next. After waiting one week with no response, I called the office to inquire. The receptionist stated she would let Shane know when she saw him next. Two days later, we still had not received an email with the quote, so my husband called and asked to speak to the owner of the company, whom we were told was Bobby Poplin. The receptionist put my husband on hold for 5 minutes and came back to say he was at lunch, but she would give him the message to return the call. It has now been 11 days since the initial inspection and we have yet to receive a quote or hear back from anyone affiliated with Poplin Construction!!! I understand that everyone is understaffed, and that the roofing and water restoration business is overtaxed due to the heavy rain this season. But at the very LEAST, this company could have the decency to be honest that they do not want our business, or they are too overworked to take on a smaller project such as ours, or at least RETURN A CALL. I cannot speak to their work and craftsmanship as they apparently are not interested in taking on the job. And at this point now, we do not want to do business with a company that does not respect the customer, nor provide good customer service. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. To start off our home insurance company sent them out to repair water damage from the second floor down into the first floor. They came out within a day or two and then didn't hear from them for about 4-5 weeks. I had to call them and then they said I will talk to the guys that went out for the estimate. Three days pass and I have to call them to get answers about our claim. They told my wife and I to come in and pick out new laminate floors for the whole first floor. When we get there they told us that insurance would only allow us to pick from 3 samples, but if we wanted to upgrade we could pay the difference. They told us that the flooring we picked out was going to be $1,200 more than the insurance company would pay. But the warranty was "great" and if there were any problems with the new flooring it was covered. Well when the guy they sent to install the flooring finally got done after taking like fifteen minute breaks every 10 minutes and 3 days in our house, I asked him why some of the joints looked buckled or damaged? He told me that when we walk on them they will set and fix them selves. Not true! It has now been 2 years and our floor looks like we had a flood in the same area they had fix everything due to water damage. So I called them to come out and look at it and they did on September 2nd 2022. The guys told me that the flooring we paid for is under warranty and so was the workmanship. We didn't hear back from them. I called them yesterday 11/28/22 almost 3 months later. They called me back today 11/29/22 and told me that the flooring manufacturer said that it appears to be water damage and they won't replace it under warranty. So I told Poplin that it appears that they didn't get all the moisture out before installing the new flooring and that they should cover new flooring the lady on the phone said there is no way they didn't get the moisture out because they would never remove the fans before it was dry. So she said she would love to give me a price to replace what they did wrong to start with. What an insult to have her tell me that they did nothing wrong but would love to take more money from me. I don't think so! Why would I ever want to give more money to a company that could care less about there customers. This place should close there doors because they are just ripping people off and could care less about customer service or satisfaction. Please save yourself the pain of working with this company and shop around because they don't have you or your family in best interest all they seem to care about is taking your money. I pray that this review saves someone from making the mistake we made hiring them. read more

He explained exactly what he was going to do and give me the price before he ever started the work. I had an insurance claim due to water damage. My insurance company gave me Poplin Construction's name and phone number. When I called that day she came and looked at the damage and said there was to be meeting the next day and would call me with the price and date they could start work. After waiting about a week I called Kaylie to find out find out the cost and date. She gave me a date of October 7, 2019. I called the office to confirm the time and was told that they did not know me and that they would call me back. She called back and told me she found my file on the desk of Kylie's and that she was away on vacation in Hawaii with her family. I received a phone call from Kylie two hours later only to be told they forgot to call me and that construction would not begin until almost two weeks. This company was so mater a fact about their incompetence they did not care that I drove here and made arrangements with my Son to come to Tucson so I could go to work. This is a very unprofessional company and I fired them from doing the work. I will go somewhere where they communicate with me and shows up. I do not recommend Poplin Construction. read more

I hired Poplin Construction to do roof repair on my home as well as complete the interior replacement of the ceiling where the water had leaked through from a recent bad storm. The estimate was exacting and understandable. The crew who showed up to complete the roof repair was courteous, professional, and ON TIME! The crew person who completed the interior repair was very respectful of my home as well as being courteous and professional. Everyone I spoke with from the person who answers the phone, to the roofing supervisor, to the crews who completed the work gave me confidence that the job would be completed correctly - and it was. After looking at pictures of my remodel, I can't help but still be angry at the miscommunication and unprofessionalism of a couple of the employer's period when you work on someone's home, the customer is always right. Not in this case... I got into it with the tile folks because they did not want to follow the instructions on the box for the tile. One supervisor does not communicate with the other causing issues that do not need to happen. I still get angry looking at my new tile floor which was not done the way we wanted. read more

We had terrible wind damage - a microburst ripped almost half the tiles off our back roof. Poplin was professional, on time, and very efficient. They worked with our insurance seamlessly. My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Bobby Poplin, Ray Salcido, and the entire Poplin team for over 8 months on the rebuilding of our home in the Tucson Foothills following a major fire and subsequent flooding from monsoon rains. Bobby and Ray were with us every step of the way guiding, advising, answering our many questions, and building our confidence that we could overcome the significant damage to our home and personal items. They personally came out to our property on a regular basis, checked on the status of the work, and expedited the many permit processes. They advised and referred us to top-quality vendors/suppliers and provided their expertise in selecting the myriad of needed home construction materials ranging from tile flooring to cabinetry, granite, roofing, plumbing, custom closets, heating/cooling systems, lighting fixtures, and interior and exterior paints. After getting all the reconstruction permits and materials, the beautiful home that we dreamed of soon became a reality through the hard work, energy, and professionalism of the Poplin employees and their outstanding sub-contractors. Everyone associated with his company are true craftsmen in their trades. Their work was always excellent and they were a pleasure to work with. I wish there was something lower than one star for this company. They were supposed to do roof work on my house, but it was so evident that they didn't know what they were doing that I let them go before they got started. Their adjuster came out to double check my insurance adjusters estimate, but never even got up on the roof or took a measurement. The appointment was made for the following week for 8:30 AM to start the work. The company called me at 9:54 AM the day the work was supposed to start just to say now their workers will be there between 9:30 - 10:30. At 12:30 PM I called my insurance (USAA) to complain that the contractors haven't showed up yet. The adjuster told me that he would contact the owner and that I would get a call. That never happen, but the workers did finally show up at 2:30 PM. They got up on the roof and were going to start replacing a part of the roof that wasn't even bad. All the worker was working off of was a picture on his smart phone. I had to explain several times what was bad, which shouldn't have been hard to understand with all the broken tiles. They finally called their boss and did figure out they didn't have enough materials to do the job they were supposed to do. As they were on their phone I was on mine to my insurance complaining to them about the incompetent contractor they hooked me up with. Long story short, they were fired and I lost two days of pay messing with this company. Stay away from this company at all cost! read more

Worst construction company I've ever dealt with. They were messy on the job, left their mess all over my yard(soda cans, trash, cigarette butts, spilled soda) when they were done with my roof. They made a total disaster of my front yard and left it for me to clean up. They did some interior drywall repair and their unprofessionalism, and messy work continued. They left my furniture and wall fixtures a complete and jumbled mess. They did not put a single item back in its place. They dripped paint and drywall plaster on the carpet, counter tops, and furnature. They did not clean up after themselves at all. When they did clean up their pianting tools/equipment they choose my front yard as their dump area for all the left over paint and rinsed their paint pans leaving a nice thick sludge of watery paint running down the side of my font yard, which I had to clean up. I have done a lot of construction and I realize it can be very messy, but it can be done neatly and they clearly did not even try to be neat. When I complained to the owner he did not have an apologetic attitude at all. He acted like " oh, well, oops". I will never use or recoment poplin construction to anyone. read more

My pipes froze last February, along with everyone else in Tucson. I've spent the last several months trying to all the repair work done. My insurance company and I decided to use Poplin, and I'm thrilled. Their work is excellent, and the workers are professional, courteous, timely, and remarkably tidy. AND they keep me in the loop as far as the process. The work has taken longer than expected - but I don't mind a bit. My house is old, and delays can be expected. They continue to inaccurately measure things which means the project takes longer to finish because they have to keep correcting their mistakes. One week before the closing on sale of my house we sprung a plumbing leak that damaged the master bath, master bedroom, and living room. I called several contractors, but the most responsive was Poplin. I had used them several years earlier on another house and was very satisfied with the quality of their work. They had to tear out the wallboard in all the rooms and remove the cabinets in the bath, and the closet organizers in the closet. They promised to have it all completed in 10 days and they fulfilled that promise. They coordinated with my insurance company and I was able to complete the sale of my house. Very good people. The owner saved the day when my truck caught fire at Sonic. He *gave* me a brand new in the box fire extinguisher to put out the fire. It only took a few seconds with the right equipment. I went back and asked how much for the extinguisher. He refused any payment! A good human being and a good Christian! Our project is big and complicated, it will take a few months to complete. We are 5 days into the job and my Mother-In-Law, who comes to make sure the pets don't escape, or get in the way, did not show up at her usual time. The worker noticed that was odd and reached out to us to let us know, just in case an emergency had occurred. Very thoughtful. This is a final report of the Flood Repairs performed by Poplin Construction on our home. I wrote an Interim Report on December 6, 2014, and promised to write a final report when our repairs were finished. Poplin Construction continued with the same wonderful work that we wrote about and our feelings about their work and business practices remain the same. Our home is now finished. We have a new floor, new walls, new cabinets, new granite - well, you get the idea - and at every stage Poplin Construction exceeded our expectations. They came when they said they were going to come and did what they said they were going to do. When they hired subcontractors for specific aspects of the work we were always impressed with the quality of the work. I only met Bobby Poplin through our insurance company - USAA - and whether we were just lucky or all the USAA approved contractors are this good all I can say is that they were fantastic. There were some minor glitches - as expected in a job this size - and Mr. Poplin went above and beyond to make them right. At one point there were two painters here who Mr. Poplin pays by the hour and after he left one of the painters told us that Mr. Poplin had told them not to rush and to be sure to do a good job. Mr. Poplin and Poplin Construction appear to be an anomaly in today's business climate. He believes his word is his bond and doing what he said he was going to do means something. We were so impressed with Poplin Construction that we hired them to paint the outside of our home. Unfortunately, Yelp appears to hide good reviews of Poplin Construction under the "Not Currently Recommended" area in light type and makes them difficult to find. Indeed, I was unaware of the section when I wrote my last review. Apparently Yelp only displays good reviews if the company pays them monthly - otherwise the good reviews are Not Recommended. I suspect, sadly, although I have been "Yelping" since 2011 and that Yelp will find this review Not Recommended because Poplin Construction does not pay them a monthly fee. Due to a leaky pipe in our guest bathroom we found mold....we utilized our homeowners insurance through USAA. Poplin was one of there contractors and would provide a 3 year warranty on the work if we used them. They remodeled our hall guest bathroom and our master bathroom. read more
