I drove my truck to them when they were in Highland with a meter read out (from the auto store) that said I had an issue with at least two coils. The repair went from " your vehicles done, the bill is $750 to well its not done and you need a new motor. They had my vehicle for 8 weeks and installed a crappy used motor that lacked power and tried to charge me $4500. I told them no way and they dropped price to $3500. I sold the truck at a big loss as I was pissed just looking at my truck. What I learned was to get a second opinion and Kurts knows nothing about Dodge trucks. My experience was horrible read more

We have had a couple of our vehicles in for repair at Kurts. This last time we had a Jeep with a very dangerous "death wobble". Kurt and his staff went to great lengths to track down what the problem was and worked hard to give us back a safe vehicle. We will be returning for any car repair needs in the future because I feel this business is fair and reasonable. On a side note,I do not give too much attention to Yelp reviewers that only tend to leave negative reviews (such as a previous one here with only one star). A well written review without personal vendetta carries much more weight. read more

Had brake work done here on our 200k mile suburban. Overall pretty happy with the service, although we are having a hard time finding the cause of a "clunk" noise when the brake are applied. We are trying to keep cost down, so we didn't wanna go crazy replacing parts. Could be any number of things on and old worn out Chevy. I would use their service again. read more

We were very fortunate to find Kurt's. Thank God!!! My girlfriend heard a bad squealing coming from the left front tire (which turned into a horrible grinding), and she should have pulled over and called a tow, but she drove on it for 40 more miles, and really jacked it up bad. As the boyfriend, I was charged with finding a good and honest mechanic in her new city of Highland, Michigan (the pressure was on) [my girlfriend was freaking out]. I researched for 3 hours all over the internet (and Yelp of course). Every place had both good and bad reviews, but Kurt's seemed to have way more good ones, and what I read, led me to call them. I spoke to Karen, the receptionist, who was very helpful, kind, reassuring, and surprisingly knowledgeable & informative concerning mechanical issues. They were very busy, but it only took one day for them to get the truck looked at, and give us the estimate. And only one more day to get the extensive work done (CV Axle Shaft, Wheel Hub Assembly, Brake Rotors & Pads, etc). The invoice was simple, detailed, and verifiable. And based on the cost for parts, the total charge could not have been any less. I was pleasantly shocked at how reasonable it was. I wasn't available to drive her in to get her truck, so Kurt's sent a guy to pick her up. Nice. I'M NOT DONE!!! The next day, the truck was running like a champ, but the front headlights were not working. I called to let them know, and they said bring it in. They checked it out within 15 minutes. Both bulbs were out (ostensibly broken during the aforementioned very rough and ill-advised 40 mile drive on broken equipment). O'Reilly's Auto Parts was across the street; we got the bulbs, and Kurt had them put in (no easy task on a Chevy Avalanche) for NO CHARGE! Very Honest, Very Friendly, Very Good & Quick Work, Definitely Recommending. Finding a loyal mechanic is one of the most important things: Mission Accomplished. P.S. Used many a service shop and dealership over the years for repairs and typically had good luck with dealerships and so-so luck with the private shops, but this place is about a JOKE. Have about 30 years personal experience working on cars well as a number of years working on everything from Indy Cars right down to our backyard lawn mower and knew well what needed repair on our van and told them when dropping the vehicle off for repairs, but they must of been "mentally awol" during the conversation and things went down hill from there. 1st...... In their lack of wisdom or willingness to listen they mis-daignose the problem and replaced the belt tensioner instead of the water pump. Normally a shop would "eat crow" and swallow that cost.... NOPE, not these guys. They admitted they messed up, but still charged us for 1/2 of the tensioner replacement. 2 days longer than the original repairs were suposed to take we FINALLY get the truck back and while the tune up they did was good, the rest of the work was the worst I've ever seen. List of shoddy work is looong and was as follows... 1. Replaced water pump (as we told them) and now the truck has a slow coolant leak around the pump housing. 2. Lower radiator hose was re-installed but is kinked and is restriting flow. 3. Upper steel hose running to heater core has missing bolts. 4. Original coolant was re-used, is contaminated and is being replaced. 5. Check engine light was stuck on when we took it in and when we got it back came back on 15 miles later and when we took it back in to discuss.... Kurt gave us some crazy story and one of the kids that works there was behind him rolling his eyes at us. (Probably the same kid who did all this amatuer work!!) Finally re-set the light, but not after doing a quick and simple diagnostic of our own that should of been blantantly obivious during the tune up. 6. Belt tensioner that they claimed to have replaced was apparently NOT CHANGED as when a new noise began to start eminating from under the hood, we discovered that the original one was STLL ON THE TRUCK and that the reason it's making noise is that 1 of the bolts that secure it to the block is missing and the other 2 are loose. Normally we'd take a vehicle back and make them fix it, but we're afraid to see what sort of other damage or sub par work they'd do next. Personally..... I'd not reccomend this place to anyone nor would I even trust them with my 10 speed bike !!! After talking with a few friends in the area they laughed and said.... "You took it there..... I have taken my car to Kurt's Auto for years. I honestly do not trust anyone else with my car. The staff there is very honest and caring. I love all of the older gentlemen in the back, the super sweet lady up front, and that awesome Kurt guy as well. When my car is repaired there feel 100% certain my car is safe for both my children and I to ride in. If your debating on where to take your car, no more questioning it, take it over to Kurt's and let them help you. read more
