I wouldn't even give this place one star, con artist's & I should have checked the reviews before taking a word of recommendation from a co-worker. I was told I needed to get my fluid lines flushed and I was quoted 270 and my air filter 30.. when I picked my car up they charged me 47 extra dollars. I did contact them and the next day I had to drive back because Sam said it had to be cash, sure. As far as him being a pig and trying to hit on me & that not being reciprocated because we're like 15 years apart in age now reading other womans comments I'm seeing he's like this with most women! 3 weeks later my check engine light came back on (my 2020 Cadillac xt4 with 47k miles) and i was unable to go over 45 mph. I stopped at autozone & the man was so helpful and kind, plugged the car in and when we got inside & read the codes it said my shutter by the grill was broke & whoever did your lines had broke it which is a 200ish dollar part plus labor. I took the paperwork he gave me & dropped my car off at Sam's shop in the morning seeing as if they did unintentionally break something or not I needed to get it fixed and make sure nothing else was going on with the vehicle seeing as I was just at the dealership for an oil change and total car inspection and other then the fluid lines and air filter car was great. I didn't hear anything until 3:00 when I was about to be out of work within the hour, had no idea if I was supposed to get transportation home or to the shop to pick it up. He then called me and said I needed a new battery and shutter & I asked if this could have something to do with what they just did a few weeks ago his entire personality shifted & said i accused them of breaking something & i needed to go elsewhere and he wouldn't work on it because i called him a liar. Which i did not say those words! Absolute loser & I'll be letting everyone in the area know to steer clear. You can run your business as you please but the costumer service is pitiful & after reading plenty of other reviews i would take your money elsewhere! read more

I came in for an oil change and they performed that but one of the guys- I'm guessing the manager or owner- saw that my front end bumped was hanging by a shoe string I had used to hold it up after an accident I was involved in the week prior. He offered to zip ties it up for me and also to clip part of the plastic bumped that was sticking out near the wheel well so it wouldn't rub against the tire any longer. It's so refreshing to have an encounter where a business does it's job well and then goes out of their way to go far above and beyond what they're paid to do. I am very grateful to that man and will definitely continue going there for all future oil changes while I live here. read more

I have been a regular customer at this place for years. This is the 2nd time that I had them do my brakes. I was able to buy my own rotors and pads and bring it to them for installation. Last time i had them do it they charged me $100 for labor out the door. Well this time it was $350. I understand costs increasing but they charge more than what my dealership charges for labor. Not to mention i made my appt a week and a half ago and i dropped my car off at 8am this morning and just got it back before they closed at 6pm. Next time i will just drive the 30 mile drive to my dealership. It will be much cheaper. And on my drive home my brakes felt spongy. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for the last 6 years, ever since we moved to the area from out-of-state. After trying a few other auto repair shops, what stood out to us about Top Lube was the care and attention to the customer's needs. As a locally-owned operation, everyone from Sam (the owner) to Mitch, Ronnie, and Miguel (guys on the floor) will make you feel valued, with the assurance that your issues will be addressed. Personally, I drive 1hr+ each way for work (~130 miles/day), while my wife drives 45 minutes in the opposite direction. Naturally, we put a lot of wear and tear on our vehicles, but will ALWAYS bring our vehicles here, even before the dealership because these guys are honest actors and exceptional mechanics. Top Lube has caught things the dealers missed, and have told me when I was being jerked around. Not to mention - they do so much MORE than oil changes. I've come hear for break pads, a timing chain, and some work on my steering column, just to name a few. Right from the get-go, I knew I had selected the right place. Professional greeting by representative, place is in clean/organized, and lots of communication between top/bottom staff. Oil Change options explained, no pressure to purchase any other services or products. Both representatives were clear in explaining additional services they provide (need any air, bulbs (both provided Free), warranty work, etc...come up..we would be happy to see you again). Nice place and nice guys. The reason I'm leaving them a 3 star and not a 5 is because I have noticed they don't offer you bottles of water anymore like they used to and some of the newer guys are actually more pushy these days on the up selling of things you don't need. Their work is solid and have had no major issues, I just think when they first opened they set the bar high and as time has passed, they have started to fall off a bit and it's slowly turning into a standard experience. I only say this because I have legitimately noticed these differences in service here. But 3 stars isn't bad either. I have found in the past when I came here that I could asked these guys for servicing advice and they wouldn't have a problem checking my oil, answering some questions and sending me on my way without purchasing anything. We just got my wife's car serviced by them and everything went fine except for the overselling part. They forced full synthetic on us when I normally go with standard. I didn't want to waste my time with going else where for an oil change so I had them do it. But In the future, just give the customer what they want because when it comes time for another oil change, im not going to forget and I'll just go somewhere else where they will follow my wishes. Not looking for a debate either about oil and or the cars warranty.. It's a corrupt Industry as it is. So unless I have I high performance engine that I drive hard, I don't pay big for for full synthetic in a small standard engine. I have never had a problem doing so either and don't mind more frequent oil changes. Esp since we lease, it's not important for that kind of high grade oil. read more

I took my vehicle to this place and had my oil changed. A day later I noticed oil leaking from my vehicle. I took it back and was told "oil cooler/filter housing leaking on passenger side of engine traveling to drivers side and dropping on top of trans". I was told I could bring it back the next day and they would fix it for $300 to $500. I took it to a repair place nearby and now it it going to cost me close to a $1,000 to fix the cracked filter housing which the employee at Top Lube in Walled Lake broke. I will NEVER go there again!!!! Don't go!!!! read more

Went in for a standard oil change and the service was friendly and completed in a timely fashion. I was aware that my vehicle needed a new air filter before the visit and planned on going to AutoZone to purchase it. The attendant convinced me that Top Lube's air filters ran the same price as AutoZone and he would even throw in a $5 discount. Seemed like a fair deal as I was a first time customer and he was attempting to create a trustworthy relationship. Turns out that my air filter was $13 less at AutoZone, and that was before I had taken the "$5 discount" into consideration. I have been a loyal customer for a few years but my latest visit will be my last. On a weekday morning when I was the only customer in the shop all they did was change the oil and filter. I had to ask to have them check the tire pressure and my neighbor opened the hood to find they did not even bother to check the fluids, especially the washer solvent. Great Service. The two guys that helped us were very friendly and scanned/ran diagnostics on our vehicle with the super cool SnapOn diagnostic computer. They said that if we have any issues with our vehicle they can do most full-service repairs. I would recommend coming to this for oil changes. A repair that my OnStar told me about a few days before. They were able to identify the problems and repair them timely and efficiently that day. CMe in for an oil change (had a coupon and wanted to try a new place because our old oil shop was slacking greatly). Everything was awesome, it two waters without even asking for them. Oil change was just that, an oil change. Don't know what to say about that. That being said, we experienced an issue a week later where we were leaking oil. When we check, our oil was practically empty. Bringing it back, the workers remembered us and immediately fixed the issue (was a manufacture issue not their fault). Stay away from here. They charge you high prices for an oil change while they smoke you out of your car. I could barely stand the amount of smoke I inhaled for my $80 service. No tire rotation or anything. It was quick but smokey and they tried selling you additional items. read more

The only reason I'm not doing 5 stars is because it was a little pricey... but I went with synthetic oil & it was the first oil change on a new car. Other than that, it was the best oil change I've ever had! I was in & out of there in no more then 15 minute-- and with a toddler! They went over all the options & prices with me & then they gave me a bottle of cold water & my daughter some fruit snacks & a sucker! Very nice manager and staff. Needed A/C fixed with a new compressor. Was told it would be a 2 hr, job. Sam was so thoughtful as to buy me a sandwich and drink because I would be there awhile and have arthritis so I could not walk far to a diner. Explained everything to me and assured me a good job. Let me start this review by saying the employee's are Polite, courteous, professional and fast! Everything you could ask for in an employee who does customer service. I wish i could say the same about the owner. My most recent (and last visit ever) to this location was for a brake service. Before i could fully explain what i needed the owner was running to the computer to give me a quote. I asked for a breakdown of parts and labor of the $225+ quote and was given the parts/labor split. When i informed him i the labor price sounded great and that the parts where in the back seat the labor price suddenly went UP by $10. When i inquired why the whole attitude changed and the owner got all offended and actually informed me that (i'm paraphrasing, but this is very close to an exact quote) "You have no right to tell me how to run my business." You're right. i dont have a right to tell you how to run your business. I put aside your high pressure condescending attitude the first time i met you & blew it off as a bad day thing. After experiencing your attitude a 2nd time i decided to use the right that every customer has - to take their business (and $$) somewhere where they'll get treated with respect. I'm glad that $10 was so critical to your ego. Because i didn't just leave the other day. I left for good. Your little attitude stunt just cost you over a dozen of those $46 high mileage oil changes i get MONTHLY (or more frequently due to my drive schedule) and other maintenance services for the upcoming 2014 year. I'm sure your competitor that i'm now taking my business to will appreciate it though. ps: Here's a business recommendation for you - let your staff run the show like you hired them to do. Had my oil changed today at Top Lube! Was there because the owner Sam so generously offered his business space for us to do a fundraising carwash for our high school poms group. The servicemen were ridiculously thorough and very helpful as was Sam himself!
