They found nothing wrong with the car, whereas this established tire dealership franchise was trying to charge us thousands of dollars for unneeded work. We later found out that we were not the only ones who experienced high estimates for unnecessary work at this firm. I asked the gentleman at Painless Autoworks how much we owed them for their time. He said we owed "nothing." In a time of bad customer service, dishonesty and greed by some businesses, I feel blessed to have found an auto repair business that I can trust. We took it in and after telling us they can't fix it, they returned it with a check engine light on. This light was not on when we parked the car. They refused to fix it or even fully diagnose it without charging us more money. If the light was on when we dropped it off we would have asked about it but we didn't because it wasn't. They never mentioned the light to us at all until we got the car back, saw it and asked about it, and they said 60% of cars they see have lights on so they don't always say something. It's a mechanic shop! Why wouldn't you tell people what is wrong with their car and offer to fix it? Isn't that solely what you do? Also 60% of cars seems crazy high.. It feels like they were just hoping we wouldn't notice. We took the car in with one issue and got it back with two. What a horrible experience. From now on I guess I'll have to take a video of the dash and car with a time stamp so i have concrete proof of how it went in. That's crazy that i should have to do that.
