Seafood Stone Bowl and hot & sour soup
Donna N.

For our neighbors, we took them out to eat for our Christmas gift to them. We let their youngest children pick the place and they chose Kuramoto in Pleasant View. This was everyone's first time eating here and while the food was delicious, the service was lacking. We came in as a party of 10 and I called ahead to reserve a table at 5pm and our table was ready when we arrived. This is a small restaurant and I didn't count how many tables they had, but it was slow when we got there and packed with people waiting when we were leaving. I love how you can substitute soups or salad for a spring roll. I also like the fact that you can get the hot and sour soup instead of the "regular" miso soup. I highly recommend trying that hot and sour soup! It was so good. Everybody's food looked good except 1 person that ordered the tempura fish. We're all halfway through with our food and he finally got his meal. I ordered the Seafood Stone Bowl. It came out sizzling and those bowls hold heat for a long time. If you don't get busy mixing up the rice from the bottom, it will get hard and crunchy. I LOVED my food and I can hardly wait to go back for more! I would've given 5 stars if everybody got their food when they're supposed to. And I hate when servers come to your table auctioning off plates. These children didn't know what their food was supposed to look like, since coming here was their first "Japanese" restaurant experience. And coming out of the kitchen with plates and asking who had what is tacky and can easily be handled with 5 minutes of training. Seriously, if you wanna come up with a system of turning in orders and food delivery to tables without auctioning plates, I'll be happy to come in and share my knowledge with you.

Great food and appetizers are awesome. Son ordered Shrimp tempura. Wife order stone bowl chicken. I got the beef udon. All very good and tasty. Highly recommend.

I have been to several world renown sushi restaurants and I am giving Kuramoto 6 stars even though there are only 5. Impeccable.

It's nice to have a sushi place so close to home. The selection is pretty good for a place that's way out here in the middle of nowhere.

I'm going to stand by my previous 5-star review, and provide a little more "flavor" to it…read more This restaurant has been a favorite of my extended family for years. It can be really busy at prime times. (For the whole extended family group, we pretty much always place the order to-go, to avoid a long wait for a table. When busy, the sound level is pretty high. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. The sushi continues to be very tasty. It turns out that I tried a ramen (picture attached) here about 2.5 years ago. But I didn't remember it. So, more recently, I tried another one of their ramen (Tonkotsu Black). I found it to have a great depth of flavor. However, I didn't like it as much as any of the ramen at a restaurant closer to my house (that I reviewed recently). Since the rest of the folks I go here with like to get the sushi, I'm happy to go along and eat way too much delicious sushi (sashimi and rolls).

It's cold outside and Ramen is the way to go to warm up…read more We came for a late Saturday dinner and seating was immediately available. The booth seat disappointed becasue it was flat. Looked like just our table because the place isn't rundown. Service was prompt and caring. Brought forks over without having to ask. Great server, noticed and took care of any need before it was pointed out or we asked. All the dishes we saw were well prepared and fresh to order. Just the right amount of kick to the spicy miso ramen. Fabulous place to come back to. When it is warmer we will try the sushi menu.

Mari Ichi is hands-down my favorite sushi spot in Hendersonville -- honestly, within a 20-30 minute…read moreradius. It rivals the high-end sushi restaurants in downtown Nashville, and in many ways, it beats them. The fish is consistently exceptionally fresh, the presentation is beautiful, and the restaurant is spotless every time. The staff is warm, attentive, and efficient -- food comes out quickly whether you're enjoying a sit-down dinner or stopping in on a tight schedule. Must-tries: * Avocado Bomb -- unique, stunning, and packed with flavor. * Tuna Lover Roll -- pro tip: ask for the crispy fried scallions (not listed anymore, but they'll add them if you ask -- and it takes the roll to the next level!). * Yellowtail Hamachi -- fresh, clean, and melt-in-your-mouth perfect. They also have fantastic lunch bento boxes -- ideal if you want a little bit of everything. Options like bulgogi, katsu, and chicken teriyaki make it easy to get a balanced, filling lunch on the go without sacrificing quality or flavor. Pricing is very fair for the quality -- not the cheapest spot in town, but you absolutely get what you pay for: premium ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and a consistently great dining experience. Whether it's date night, a family meal, a business lunch, or a quick midday sushi craving, Mari Ichi always delivers. Friendly service, fresh fish, fast kitchen, and consistently excellent food -- what more can you ask for? Can't wait for my next visit!

I experienced Maru Ichi as Maru Iyagi…read more Ordering (walkable retrieval) food online from my hotel in the early winter was harder than I thought. I knew I wanted something a little more elevated than fast food but nothing overly fancy (for which you should always do dine in). After striking out with my first choice, I came across Maru. I didn't know if it was related to the other Maru restaurants found around Middle Tennessee. I assumed it was (bad assumption? I'm asking) and, led by my good experience at Maru in East End, I made my way to Maru Iyagi.* Hoofing it, I took notice of how inviting the shopping center where the restaurant is located is. It was a reminder that Hendersonville has money (said in my best Quinta-before-*she*-had-money voice). Because of all the flim flammery involved in me looking for a restaurant, I ordered later than I'd planned. This was a mistake. Food workers don't like last minute orders. I get it. I was once one. I didn't like them. I walked in to a mostly empty dining room and bothered service. I get it. Not wanting to be (more of) a burden, I opted for fried rice rather than being so involved as to order sushi. I added shrimp (for protein) to my rice for an extra $3. I walked in, approached the hostess, asked for my order, was led to the bar area, got my food very quickly after that (ruh roh, Shaggy), thanked everyone profusely, and walked back to my hotel. The rice was... okay. Granted, it's fried rice and not a complicated order but I was a bit taken aback by how quickly it was ready. My $3 shrimp were small and hard to come by. This was not a meal made with love. Again, I get it. I've been there. Noted. If there's a next time, I'll be sure to get my order in early. The majority of customers seem to be fans. *Ichi.
