Chef Ed made every step of my privately catered, sit down dinner for twelve as easy as possible. Every detail was attended to, the food was fabulous, the staff friendly and efficient and the at-home 80th birthday party was a big success. He suggested a six course meal that included mouth watering appetizers, a delicious main course of the local catch with chorizo and a fork-tender teriyaki steak. Dessert was his famous specialty, a decadent combination of nutella, ice cream, chocolate sauce and graham crackers. I would recommend Kuhola Culinary for any catering needs you might have, from small dinner parties to large celebrations. read more

Special, memorable and the best experience you could hope for! Chef Ed provided excellent service, very accommodating on the menu request, and delivered an exceptional dinner beyond expectations. So first with the planning: I wanted to have a special dinner for my Aunty's 70th birthday. Due to mobility issues, it's difficult for her to go to restaurants so having a catered dinner at our home seemed like a great option. Chef Ed worked with me both over the phone and in emails and came up with a menu perfectly fit for her and my guests (there were some food sensitivities that he addressed wonderfully!). He arrived early to prepare for the dinner and brought everything - and I mean everything, including table settings. When the dinner service started, he's presentation was accompanied by his description of each dish and that elevated the dinner experience even more. Smoked Aku Dip on crostini - absolutely perfect starter, the masago and yuzu enhanced the smoked dry aku flavor perfectly. Ahi Poke in Nori cups were fun to eat and delicious to boot. Roasted vegetables with Bagna cauda sauce - perfectly roasted vegetables and several of my guests were tempted to drink the sauce. Smoked Pork - this is a dish I could eat again and again. The smoked pork had a subtle smokey flavor paired with green onion and tagarashi. Salmon salad - Sous vide salmon that melted in our mouths. The bed of mix greens was lightly tossed with a yuzo miso vinaigrette that matched well with salmon. Opah with baby bok choy and Asian Ragu - sweet and tender. Soy Miso Braised Short Rib - by now you would think we had enough but we couldn't stop eating! The short ribs were fork tender and highly flavorful without being overpowering or salty. Chef's Ed attention to detail was above par and wonderful person to work with. His passion for food really shows in his dishes. Absolutely an experience to repeat again and again. Thank you Chef Ed! read more

This was my first time using a caterer (besides getting food catered by a hotel or restaurant) and I'm kind of a food nerd so I enjoyed it. Chef Ed was very quick to respond and very accommodating to all my needs including my price point. I asked for $20 per person and quoted me $16 per person which gives you room for tax and tip. He was very flexible with the menu. I was only needing a couple of dishes for my 2 year old's small birthday party. Menu was: -JD baby back ribs - DELICIOUS. Everyone loved them. Chef said they were even better fresh and had that crunch. He brought them all wrapped up with no holes (I imagine for transporting them) so they lost that crunch but were delicious. -chicken yakisoba noodles with vegetables - because noodles are my daughter's favorite food. They were also yummy but if I were going to have a non-child event I probably would've picked something more grown-up. -truffle miso butter corn. They were also yummy. I told him I would pay more for organic corn and he said he would do that no charge - yay! I ordered food for 20 people, not everyone ate (party started at 3 and food arrived around 5pm, and people left early). I have a TON of food left. I think his portions are quite generous. Food was due 5pm, but he arrived early which was also awesome. He set everything up, was very nice and professional. I want to hire him again but I would prefer to have him cook or serve at event so I don't miss out on that crunch again, and also order more grown-up dishes like I see in the pictures. read more

We had our family reunion and have decided to do something different. Hire private chef after long day at the beach!! First thing first, Chef Ed was prompt with inquiries and accommodating to our need. Again this was first time hiring private Chef but want to make sure we get this right for my family members. He asked us number of questions prior to preparing menus including our picky kids (9-11 yrs old) eaters and boy he did NOT disappoint! During our stay we visited Roy's and Alani Disney breakfast but Chef Ed' came #1 among all our family member. Thank you again for FIRST CLASS service and HIGHLY recommend to others!!! read more

Cant say enough good things. To start he was very accommodating and easy to work with which is a plus. He provided our meals with a high level of quality, freshness and care. He understood exactly what we wanted and then was able to follow through with the end product. He was reasonably priced and very professional. Food tasted great, quality was spot on, very responsive and you can tell he took pride in what he does. I would definitely recommend him to others! read more

Chef Ed Kuoha served our party of 17 and 3 children the most delicious dinner last night! Everyone raved about the delicious food, which also included tasty vegetarian and vegan selections. Our dinner included smoky soy glazed chicken thighs, pan roasted flank beef with Maui onion Demi jus, sauteed Ewa sweet corn, roasted vegetable platter, whipped Haupia parfait, and more. Before our dinner Chef Kuoha kept us updated and informed, and was very mindful of our various food allergies and preferences. We all want to thank Ed Kuoha for a wonderful food experience! read more

We had Chef Ed cater for our 60-person wedding in Oahu. Chef Ed won me over with his professionalism, FANTASTIC communication, and respect for working within a budget. We didn't have any time for a tasting preceding the wedding as we were organizing from afar. The menu we had had some hits, and some items that I probably would have changed if I'd had the chance to taste preceding the wedding. Appetizers - Ahi poke bites, mini roasted mushroom flatbread went down very well Mains - Kalua Pork was by far our number one hit! The scallion chicken unfortunately was a bit tough and dry. The fish 'en papillote' we had was also a bit too meaty/tough for my tastes. The vegetarian options - roast miso eggplant and pulehu Tofu were delicious and beautifully plated and I wish we had offered them to the meat eaters also! Sides - Charred Ewa sweet corn salad was delicious. The guava butter was amazing, but the rolls I was told by guests were dried out by the time they were served. Overall Chef Ed was great to work with, and I chose him because he was very considerate of my menu requests and budget, and because he certainly can make some fantastic food. Had I done it again I would have done a tasting and bumped the chicken and fish. Thank you Chef Ed for being our wedding caterer! read more

Chef Ed catered a family style dinner for 15 people at our rental home on Sunset Beach. He was so easy to work with from start to finish. He had great suggestions for our meal, and was able to work within my budget. There was more than enough food for leftovers the next day. And best of all, the kitchen was spotless at the end of the evening. read more

Chef Ed and his staff of Asia and Jacob were just wonderful. I hired Ed to cook for a dinner party at our home for my wife's 50th birthday and it couldn't have gone any better. Ed was brilliant right from the first email I sent him, replying swiftly and making great suggestions for our meal. He was also super helpful in working with us to fit our budget, adjust the menu to accommodate a couple of dietary restrictions our guests had and also so we could add our own personal touches to the decor. The food was simply exquisite in both taste and presentation (the ahi starter was the best ahi I have ever had period). Asia and Jacob ensured friendly but unobtrusive service and that everything was spotless when we were finished. Ed is a skilled, humble, warm and trustworthy person and I can't recommend him more highly. read more

I reached out to Chef Ed Kuoha fairly last minute for catering needs for our brunch wedding reception in O'ahu. Chef Ed's response time was unheard of, and his communication with sample menu's and pricing was so quick it felt as if I had been working with him for months! Once all of the details were locked in, Chef Ed and team truly delivered. Our wedding guests loved how simple, yet well executed the menu was. Every element of our reception was perfect, especially the food! We would without a doubt use them again in the future! read more

After choosing a different caterer for my destination wedding I wasn't content so I searched for a different caterer and came across Kuoha Culinary. I am so glad we chose this team. Ed's response time was quick and all our communication was through email everything was super clear on his part, invoices were updated promptly, never been to Hawaii so his suggestions with food were a huge success he suggested a bacon appetizer and let me say I am not a bacon fan but he assured it was a favorite but still stated he can change it I decided to stick with the bacon and surprisingly it was a hit I loved it and all my guests couldn't stop raving about it. Thank you so much for all the delicious food my guests enjoyed it and I would recommend you to family and friends. read more

We asked Chef Ed for pupus to pair with beer and feed a group of 100-150 professionals moving from one open house to the next. He nailed it. The food was delicious and varied. I had multiple people ask for his contact info. In addition to his on-site professionalism and clean presentation, leading up to the event he was easy to communicate with, attentive and had great suggestions. A true collaborator. Thank you Chef Ed! I look forward to working with you again. read more

Chef Ed did a fabulous job catering our rehearsal dinner on October 20th. We planned this a bit last-minute and wanted to feed 32 people who were staying at the estate where our son was to be married the following day. Chef Ed was incredibly responsive and willing to work within our budget. He delivered a fabulous feast - the "Local Boy" En Papillote fish dish was especially outstanding. We had some people with food aversions/allergies and Chef Ed delivered custom servings for those individuals. We had plenty of food but by the end of our 4 day wedding celebration, all the food was gone! Fabulous job. I would highly recommend this caterer. read more

Chef Ed responded very quickly to my inquiry for catering my destination wedding in Honolulu. I looked at other vendors and recognized that many of the local catering menus offered food traditionally served on the island. The customization Chef Ed allowed appealed to me. Although my then fiancé and I would be okay with traditional island fare, the 16 or so friends and family members attending our wedding from Louisiana would not be as open. Chef Ed allowed for menu customization based on cost per person. I wanted beef short ribs and corn with miso butter based on the reviews I read on other sites. Chef Ed suggested roasted pork and garlic cream mashed potatoes as additional options that would fit in my budget. I also had a salad to offset all the carbs. On my big day, Chef Ed arrived exactly as arranged and set up everything in the penthouse suite we rented. We did his "drop off" catering, and he provided everything needed. There were nice little touches like cards describing each item and the more formal looking disposable plates and utensils. The food was absolutely epic!! All our guests commented on how good everything was. To people from the New Orleans area, where food and flavor is a big part of our culture, making such an impression is a really hard thing to do. We had plenty of food left over as we ordered for 20 guests and some were children. I am sure the food could have served 20 men well. We invited our guests to come back for lunch the next day. Believe me, we had takers for our offer. The food was just as good reheated. My husband and I commented how we wished we could take Chef Ed home with us for more of his cooking. The whole process was easy. I did not have a wedding coordinator, so easy was key for me. I was able to put down a deposit and make two other payments which helped make it more affordable. You need to have Chef Ed and Kuoha Culinary in your life or you will be missing out. Take it from a New Orleans girl, you will be thanking me later. read more

When our wedding planner fell through at the last moment, we had to start planning from scratch. One of the biggest details was finding someone to cater our intimate reception. When I read Chef Ed's profile on yelp, I was hopeful. I have to say that all my expectations were far exceeded, from my first email with Chef Ed to the moment he drove away. He stated that he wanted to get into the mindset of the client. With one email, this guy had calmed my fears about my food allergy. Chef Ed did all his research about the allergy, and I learned a thing or two about this allergy that I have been living with my whole life. That was the start of an experience that was extremely awesome. These words seem over the top - but Chef Ed is truly top notch. He created a 7 course meal that burst with flavor from beginning to end. It is truly impressive when a chef can create something amazing using a food that I never liked before. Chef Ed did that with one of the courses. Chef Ed says he is all about getting the wow from his clients. His service, his food, his presentation, his flavors, his attention to detail, and overall experience got a big WOW from my new husband and I. He stayed in our budget and created a dining experience we will always remember. read more

Kuoha Culinary - 7 Course Dinner for our Intimate Wedding Reception on the Beach in Makaha Beach, Oahu! Chef Ed is exceptional in every way. - Caterers Near Me

Having Chef Ed cater our small wedding was one of the best choices we've made. When our original caterer choice fell through (poor communication and lacking attention to detail) with only a few months out from our big day we panicked. We didn't have a wedding planner and had to find all our vendors on our own. After sending inquiries to several catering companies we decided on Chef Ed because of the amazing communication. When I first inquired on Yelp he responded within minutes! Throughout the whole process he worked closely with me via email to achieve exactly what we wanted. On our wedding day Chef Ed went above and beyond our expectations of a caterer. First of all the food was amazing! We had guests from the islands as well as Texas and all of them loved the food! Chef Ed took care of all my guests AND my other vendors as well. He took initiative and helped us out with so much more than was expected. Not having a wedding planner and only having my mother to help organize things we appreciated all of his help. Chef Ed was a blessing to us on our big day and we will always recommend him! read more

When we made a list of the top five things we wanted for our wedding, delicious food was at the top of both my wife and I's list. After a lot of research and back, we found Chef Ed. Unfortunately, we did not live on Oahu yet, so we had to book Chef Ed without getting a chance to taste his food. This was one of the best decisions we made. All of his reviews are correct: his food is authentic and delicious. The night before our wedding, we had him drop off catering for a pool party/luau for about 40 people. He was on time, with everything ready to go,. He got things set up quickly and was out of the way before we were! He also catered our wedding feast, making sure he had enough staff on hand that everything ran smoothly. Our guests could not stop talking about the food. Everything was of high quality and tasted BEYOND amazing. He also had some really good vegetarian options for our guests who didn't eat meat and incorporated it into the menu so they didn't feel like they were missing out. I would jump at any opportunity to eat Chef Ed's delicious and well thought out meals again. Overall, hiring Chef Ed was a great experience and I would definitely recommend him. read more

Wow, what a treat! My husband surprised me with a personal chef for my 40th birthday celebration...amazing gourmet food and service right in our kitchen! Chef Ed's setup, preparation, serving, and cleanup was nothing short of professional, seamless, and delightful! As a bonus, Chef Ed was pleasant to have in our home. My husband said Chef Ed/his services was reasonable and that he was awesome to work with in planning the menu for my surprise party. Result....perfection! It was an amazing memorable experience... We plan on hiring Chef Ed in the future to cook and serve a gourmet meal just for us/a date night in :) read more

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE MEAL! If you read no more, know that I would hire Chef Ed a million times again! My story: I booked a trip to Oahu, first time ever in Hawaii and rented a house in Waialua, near North Shore. I wanted to experience the local cuisine but not the local tourist traps of tons of people at a commercial Luau. I stumbled across Ed and was immediately impressed with his Philanthropic nature and commitment to his family, community and children. I requested an interactive meal preparation to take place in the rental house and Ed was very accommodating. He suggested a menu based on what I told him what I was interested in. He prepared Ahi Poke, Traditional Pork Laulau (pork rolled in Luau leaves), Pulehu Chicken, Kauai Shrimp Scampi, En Papillote (fresh fished, baked), and Traditional Haupia Squares and fresh pineapple for dessert. Ed also prepared another 4-5 off menu items. He was very generous with the menu and welcomed our participation in the preparation. We only participated in the prep of the pork Laulau but Ed continued to prepare while we quizzed him on his culinary experience and background, local community and customs, and cooking tips. He should have charged us extra for the cooking tips but he was happy to share any cooking tips. The menu was intended for just 3 people and but 2 local neighbors joined us and we still had a ton of leftovers. Ed was completely self-sufficient with his cooking ware, plates, silverware, cloth napkins and table cloth and he cleaned up everything. Ed shared with us that he does larger events (I think 100+) as well. I would highly recommend including Ed in your next meal plan when you visit Oahu. His meal and that evening was the highlight of my trip! I can't say enough good things about Ed. read more

I contacted Chef Ed from my home in Scottsdale, Arizona as we were planning an evening wedding reception at the "Duke" Presidential Suite at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. He was so easy to work with and had great suggestions for a pupu presentation of Hawaiian Regional Cuisine. He worked with me on the menu and made great suggestions with everything that would give all our guests a sampling of a variety of taste sensations. He even included poi shooters, pork, chicken, fish, pineapple skewers, and the fabulous chef Ed's mini chocolate haupia tarts. The presentation was beautifully displayed on the dining table with his dutifull presence to explain and encourage guests on all the delights. People are still raving about how wonderful the food was and a chef that created and extended the aloha spirit. We could not have asked for a more professional and honest working relationship with a caterer. Chef Ed Kuoha is truly a maste culinary artist who takes his discipline to the highest level. Not only that but he's a nice guy too. What a pleasure to work with a master. read more
