Hiroshima style okonomiyaki
Vira P.

I had to go to the Richmond District today and I knew farmers market was happening. I told myself to just get a snack because I need to fit into a dress for the two holiday parties I'm going to on Thursday. Within 10ft of entering farmers market, I saw Kunugi Noodles's booth that had a picture of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. So naturally I didn't listen to myself and ordered one lol! The owner was working by himself so it was a wait. But the okonomiyaki was worth it, especially because Hiroshima-style is hard to find in the city. It wasn't exactly Hiroshima-style because the crepe batter was mixed with the cabbage and the egg was pre-made (a fried egg instead of it being shaped like a crepe). But working in an outdoor kitchen has limitations and cooking it that way was the way to do it in this situation. It was delicious nonetheless! The cabbage/crepe pancake is where the seafood was. There were pieces of shrimp and squid that gave it a chewiness against the softness of the crepe batter. The cabbage added a smokiness. The yakisoba noodles were yummy and maintained a slightly firm texture from being fried. I also liked the amount of Bonita flakes added. It was just right to add more seafood flavor. The owner was really nice! Even though he was clearly busy working on his own, we conversed a little on our travels to Japan. I know this page says his location is at a farmers market elsewhere and I don't know how often he's at Clement Street's farmers market. But wherever you go, if you see his booth, check it out!

Found this place at the Outer Sunset farmers market. I got the chicken with udon noodles. The food tasted yummy and fresh . It was made to order. There is a wait for the food. It will be over 15 minutes depending what you order. There is lots of good stuff on the menu.

My 88 yr old Mom tasting Kunugi Noodle Street food. She kept repeating, "Very Clean. Little to No Salt & Oils".

Very filling. Street food as it should be. Very Healthy. When will u return to Farmers Market Serramonte Daly City? I want to try other meals at a fair price.

Gyoza dumplings with pork

SOOOOOO GOOOOD!! Every Sunday, we go to Kunugi Noodle and get the gyoza dumplings. 2 dozen of them. They are so hot, fresh, and crispy and the sauce is just perfect. My son, who Mr Jack has kindly named "The King of the Dumplings", bought him a Dumpling Time t-shirt from our favorite place. I would definitely recommend checking them out. They take around 15 minutes so order, enjoy the farmers market, and come back to pick up and eat your freshly cooked dumplings!! DELICIOUS!!

The interior of the restaurant is very cozy and well done, which goes well with the warm lighting. Our server was very friendly and helpful. One of my friends has a crab allergy, and the server explained that all fried food with have cross contamination because of the soft shell crab, but the boards and everything else are wiped down. We ordered two Miracle rolls, a Dora-gon roll, and a Traffic roll. We also received complimentary miso soup which hit the spot. I like that they did not include soup spoons so that we can drink the both with two hands! The wait for all the food was maybe 20 minutes or less, with the Traffic roll taking about 30 minutes, which was fine because we had rhe other 3 + miso soup. The Dora-gon roll was amazing! Very classic dragon roll that was well executed. Perfect ratio of sauce, eel, tempura, cucumber and avocado. The tempura stayed very crispy and gave the best balance of textures. Nothing to complain about. The Traffic roll had some of the most appealing ingredients to me from the whole menu. It had inari, sweet potato tempura, cucumber, mango, avocado, house sesame sauce, topped with crispy purple yam. The presentation was also beautiful! The crispy purple yam provided most of the texture from this roll, while the rest of the ingredients are fairly soft. Though, I would have preferred something with more crunch in the roll, it doesn't knock any points off because the flavor exceeded my expectations. Very tasty. Also, easy access bathroom that was super clean. Will come back again to try more rolls!

For SF, the pricing is genuinely reasonable for this level of quality. My girlfriend and I have been driving up from the South Bay just to eat here for the past couple of years, and after trying countless spots across the city, this is easily number one. The Kazoku Special is my absolute favorite roll. On top of that, the service is incredible they already know my order the moment I walk in. Just be patient when they're slammed; it's a family-run mom-and-pop shop, and the food is well worth the wait.

And, to be honest, I'm not sure it gets any below the radar than Kazoku Sushi. Really, if not for the fact that they're located just down the block from one of my family's favorite Chinese restaurants, I'm not sure I ever would've known this place even existed! Inside, the restaurant has a very cozy sort of feel to it. While it's not necessarily dark inside, the somewhat dim lighting definitely gives off a more intimate sort of vibe than lively/loud, which I kind of liked. As for the menu, it's got a lot to offer, but it seems to lean a bit more towards sushi and izakaya-types of offerings than your average neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Although they do have some ramen/udon and entree options, most of the menu is made up of sashimi, nigiri, sushi rolls, and appetizers/small plates, like chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, takoyaki, potato korokke, tempura, etc. -- SAKE TORO NIGIRI - Salmon Belly Nigiri...$11 Quite possibly my favorite thing here. Each cut of salmon just tasted oh so good. Also, while I didn't necessarily mind it, I was surprised to see that they left so much of the skin still attached. -- HAMACHI TORO NIGIRI - Yellowtail Belly Nigiri...$11 Much like the Sake Toro, this was great. While it wasn't as fatty/rich as I thought it might be, the hamachi toro was really fresh and had a nice bit of lusciousness to it. I'd definitely get this again. -- CHICKEN KARAAGE - Japanese-style Fried Chicken with Sriracha Aioli, Japanese Mayo, and Katsu Sauce...$15 While the portion size of this was definitely impressive, the taste of this was closer to okay. Mostly, the batter felt a little dry/chalky, but I also wish the chicken had been juicier and a bit more marinated/seasoned (the three dipping sauces helped though). -- KAZOKU SPECIAL ROLL - Shrimp Tempura, Jalapeno, and Spicy Crab Topped with Tuna, Salmon, and Fried Green Onions...$22 We were curious about their namesake roll, but, sadly, we didn't care for it. While the fish and tempura were fine, they were overwhelmed by the sheer amount of (fried?) jalapenos and green onions, which gave the roll (and my mouth) a super greasy feel. Pass. -- SABA SHIO with Rice, Salad, and Miso Soup...$18 Aside from how part of the fish still had a lot of bones in it, this was solid. While not as flavorful as others I've had, the piece of saba was huge. As for the rest, the rice was good, but the salad had a ton of mayo dressing and I wish the miso had green onions and seaweed. -- 49ERS ROLL - Crab Salad and Avocado Topped with Salmon and Lemon Slices...$17 Not quite as good as it could've been, but far better than the Kazoku Roll. This may be a little simple, but the cut of salmon was delicious, the avocado was fresh, and the crab salad was great. If the slice of lemon had been cut in half, this would've been perfect. Beyond the food, service has been largely okay. The first time, it didn't really stand out, good or bad, but the server the second time I came here was really friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, what has stood out are some of the menu prices. More specifically, the Kazoku Roll ($22) and Chicken Karaage ($15) felt a little hefty. That being said, the relatively generous portion of Karaage helped and some of their other dishes, like the Saba Shio, were quite fair for the money. What's more, their late night menu (9pm-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays) is a pretty good value, offering a mix of small bites ($5), small plates ($10), and reduced prices for beers and soju cocktails. All in all, while most of what I've tried has been perfectly fine, I can't say that anything was remarkably different/better than what you can find elsewhere either. One big positive about Kazoku, though, is how they stay open relatively late on Fridays and Saturdays (until 11pm) in an area of the city where most other places shut down early. Still, other than for a late night bite or if we're already around here, I don't know if I would make a point of driving all of the way back out here again for dinner since there are so many alternatives closer to me. At some point, I'll probably be back, but in the meantime, THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

It's been over 6 years and a lot has changed in that time…read more A friend hosted a birthday dinner here on a Saturday night for a party of 12. Finding street parking 1.5 blocks away, I walked in and the hostess seated me at a long table to the right of the entrance. I was a little early which gave me time to study the menu. The dining room was mostly full already. When my party arrived, our host ordered several appetizers to share and asked each diner to decide on their own main meal. We tried three small bites as follows: a. Boneless fried chicken, soy garlic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=KYa0rZOUsOqjeQpdJelYAA) - Korean style crispy boneless chicken; these were as described with a slightly sweet and sticky glaze. b. Popcorn salmon (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=92ZddPT6Qo2TiIur8YOpZA) - Bite size fried salmon with spicy salmon; I did not recognize that this was salmon until the 3rd bite. c. Bulgogi quesadilla (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=ymymJkLHfLRpJgYcbNFUCw) - Quesadilla with bulgogi and cheese; it makes for an interesting combination, again the sweetness from the meat meshing with the rich and savory cheese. I chose the pork plate (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=tYaxEnKifiKWh7TzfzH1rA), spicy; marinated sliced pork savory sauce cooked with veggies and glass noodle on sizzling plate, served with rice (more meat $7.00, brown rice $2.00 supplement charges). I had this with regular rice and the normal portion which was plenty. The flavor was consistent with K style cooking and, being full from a heavy lunch and the apps, I ended up bringing home half of this home, rice included. It seemed that everyone enjoyed their meals and everyone had boxes to bring food home so the portions are generous. In reading my original review, the food again rates 3.5 stars for me but it was interesting to see how the menu changed to include ramen and soups too. The two gals who tended to our big party (not an easy task) were efficient and cordial as they removed empty plates and bowls and refilled water glasses regularly. The dining room filled up by the time we left with a younger crowd. There is an extensive soju menu so that may be a draw too. With the # of restaurants in the Richmond, doubtful that I would return here other than for parties like this. Also, I lean towards more traditional Korean cuisine.

This was my first time visiting Ramen Kameko on Clement Street. The promotion was $5 Special Ramen (To Go Only) with a choice of Tonkotsu or Shoyu Ramen. I like ramen, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try the restaurant. They were already sold out of the Tonkotsu Ramen, so I ordered the Shoyu Ramen, a soy sauce-based broth topped with one piece of chashu, negi, and kikurage. By the time I ate it, the broth was only lukewarm. I also waited almost 30 minutes just to get the $5 Shoyu Ramen. Had I known it was only a mini-sized portion, I probably would not have waited in line for it. The chashu was okay, but the portion size seemed more like a snack size than a full bowl of ramen. For $5, it felt more like a sample portion. It was almost like eating a mini kids' meal version of ramen. There were only two people handling the promotion. It appeared the chef was preparing the ramen assembly-line style, scooping the soy sauce base into the container and adding hot water before serving. Overall, there wasn't anything particularly special about the promotion other than watching the chef prepare a large number of ramen orders. The $5 price was reasonable, but it felt more like a tasting portion than a full ramen experience.
