Recently bought a sword for around $100. The item arrived defective (the scabbard was cracked). I contacted them and they said rest assured they would send me a replacement and suggested it could've been damaged during shipping. They asked for pictures of the shipping box and it does seem like the box could've been damaged. But it's been over a week and I've heard nothing. They stopped responding to my emails and never called me back. I decided to give them this review. Beware of online purchases. The item was described as "premium" quality but it was anything but. I just ordered the San Huang Dao, I have purchased others from another company that does not sell this sword, so I ordered from yours. The write up states the blade does not bend but it does at the upper part, the middle does not bend due to the T Back. I am not happy with this sword. read more

Walked in and the lady at the front was more than gracious. I was looking for rattan sticks for Filipino Martial Arts. The lady brought me to the back and had me pick out a long rattan pole and cut it in-house. The service was excellent and the price point was fair. I ordered an item that was returned to sender, with no explanation from the vendor. My emails went unanswered for weeks, similarly direct messages on facebook and twitter. I finally managed to get someone on the phone, and the refund was processed, minus the 90$ delivery for the mystery return. So probably good to drop in to and buy in person, but my advice would be to avoid the online store. That's clearly not where their attention is focussed. read more

Why not just order directly? Many overseas Kung Fu supplier websites are hard to read, deliver slowly, charge exorbitantly for shipping and are often unreliable. Kung Fu Direct is a much better option for this niche market. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. If you are living near the bay area, it's probably a good place to go to to buy all your kungfu gear. I have been there once during the Golden State competition. However, we live in San Diego and we had to pay for very expensive shipping fees ($15.06 for 3 pairs of shoes). To make things worst, the shoes that my husband bought did not fit, we had to pay for another $12.33 shipping fee for them to send the bigger size to us. On top of that, we had to pay shipping to send the shoe that is too small back to them. By the way, my husband wears size 10.5 but their size 10.5 does not fit him. We had to exchange it to their size 11. The other two pairs that I bought for my children fit perfectly but it's a totally different brand. They have a pretty good selections of wushu gear but the shipping fee is outrages. If shoes size is accurate, I wouldn't have to pay shipping 3 times. Not being very fair to customers. They can afford to do this because there's not a lot of competition yet from other vendors. I hope more vendors coming up so customers has more choices. This is a review of an in-person visit, not an online purchase. I went into the warehouse today. I live nearby and wanted to avoid shipping costs for a heavy item. The person who helped me was kind and knowledgeable. I received great service in the store. It doesn't hurt that there's a very friendly, very puffy white dog who kept me company while I waited. I found out Kung Fu Direct is very active in the local martial arts community, and is the main organizer of a very large martial arts competition. I got a great price for the item I purchased, I doubt I could find a better price anywhere in the U.S. I repeat that I actually went to this warehouse. I have had no experience ordering online, but I did check the online shipping on the weapon I bought and it was substantial. I know this warehouse ships across the U.S. and that it's online presence is much larger. This is a warehouse without a showroom, so you if you go in person, you need to know exactly what you want. You can use their webpage like I did if you'd like to browse their wares. This is a pretty large warehouse with tons of stuff, but it might still be a good idea to call ahead to check if the item you want is in stock. okay, I have been a customer of these guys for years, and bought a lot of stuff from them. My last transaction with them, and specifically, Miguel, ended it all. I purchased a competition eight diagram bagua broadsword. The description of this sword on their website said it weighs 4lbs. 10oz. I ordered and received the sword. I thought it felt heavy, so, I weighed it. It weighs 6lbs.8oz., almost 2 lbs. more! I figured I would contact them and return. I knew I might have to pay shipping back to them, but I figured being a long time customer that they would pay for the returned shipping once I explained the error in weight. Then it took me several days, after leaving several return requests, and checking my e-mail all day everyday, finally I got a response. First I was lied to by Miguel who said he had sent me an e-mail the day before. He did not! Then he said the sword was described accurately on the web site and that it weighed 4lbs. 10oz, without the scabbard. It did not and it hasn't magically went down in weight. It still weighs6lbs. 10oz..Then he said I would have to pay shipping back, in other words he wouldn't even check to see if I might be right about the weight. I decided to keep the sword because if I spent the 29.00$ to ship it back he would still say that it weighed what the website said. I told him to kiss my a--. very ,very disappointed in these guys. I bought a pair of shoes that ended up to be too small and returned them almost two weeks ago. Expected a refund. After three calls to them, I am still waiting for a refund.
