Probably the best dumplings and buns I've had hands down. The bok choy and mushroom steamed buns were crazy, same with the duck buns. The dumplings were 10/10. I visited Kung Fu Kitchen today during their soft opening period and was pleasantly surprised at how good my experience was. We tried to utilize their waitlist option on our way to the restaurant but the Yelp app kept on giving us an error. We had to wait until we reached the restaurant to manually add ourselves to the waitlist on the tablet they had. On the tablet it quoted us a ~20 minute wait, however, we waited close to 40 minutes before being seated. Thankfully there were some cute shops nearby we could go to while we waited. The waitlist requires a phone number and they will text you when you should return to their waiting area. For the first half of our meal the service was very attentive, they were constantly topping off our waters and asking if we needed anything else. However, once we got our last dish, the service seemed to decline a bit as I had to ask for more water and even then, they only filled up the glasses 2/3rds of the way full. In terms of food, we got the pork xiao long bao, scallion pancakes with beef, house special stir fry hand cut noodles and the spicy beef hand cut noodle soup. The xiao long bao had good flavor and benefited from a splash of vinegar and chili oil but I found the dough to be quite chewy and thick. The scallion pancakes with beef were good from a flavor perspective but I found that it had very little beef in it. We got both the stir fry and soup hand cut noodles and I would say the soup hand cut noodles were better than the stir fry. The spicy beef hand cut noodles were extremely flavorful and mildly spicy. There is a strong cilantro flavor so if you don't enjoy cilantro I would suggest skipping it. Overall I enjoyed my meal here. read more

Dined here 3 different times and food has been consistent and solid. Didn't think the prices were Unreasonable and have been able to feed a family of 4 for about 100 without drinks. We usually order the XLB, steamed pork dumplings, pan fried buns with meat (huge hit with my boys), hand cut stir fried noodles and pig ears. Hand cut Noodle texture has a chewy bite which is perfect for me. Take it any day over mushy noodles. Cucumber salad is simple and refreshing. Only wished they had more vegetable dishes. read more

Saw an Instagram post and decided to try this place out. We went on a Friday night and the wait wasn't too bad. I think it was around 7pm and we waited for 20min or so. We ordered the different soup dumplings. They were all delicious. And for the fried steamed dumplings. I'd say those were my favorite. Not that the regular soup dumpings weren't great. They were. We were just pleasantly surprised at how tasty the fried dumplings were. The Bao dough looks thick, but the texture was great and didn't seem to be overly doughy and filling. We also got the hand pulled noodles, and man, they were great. And we love their chili paste. I got a lemon drop cocktail. Not so great. Lacking lemon flavor. I'd stick with beer or juices/iced teas they have in the menu. Don't think cocktails is their forte. read more

The excellent food was somewhat undercut by the inexperience of our server who was awkward in his placement of all the dishes and had to be asked for serving utensils and missing condiments. The red bean paste buns, which we had asked to come at the end of the meal, came with the rest of our steamed dumplings, which meant they were cold by the time we got to them. Poor timing also meant we had to choose between letting noodles stretch or dumplings cool and harden. This place was promising from the outside, but it ended being a big disappointment. My family, who usually love all varieties of Chinese food, did not enjoy the food in this place. This restaurant seems to have just opened in Boston, after earning Michelin guide status in New York. The service is prompt and good, and the interior is newly renovated. we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes to get a table at lunchtime on a Sunday. The food is good, with the highlight being the pancake. The noodles are very comforting, but I wished that the pan-fried dumplings were a bit crispy on the bottom and had more soup inside. Came across this place on TikTok and felt like I had to try it at least once. Restaurant is in a great location super close to the T and the inside is very nice. Food comes out pretty quick and all of its delicious. My favorite was the 夫妻肺片, and you know the foods going to be great when a lot of the patrons are Chinese. read more

Kung Fu Kitchen is a new addition to the Brookline restaurant scene. We had to try their new expansion after visiting their restaurants in New York. The dumplings are juicy and packed with flavor. My personal favorite was the shrimp and pork dumplings. The dumplings are wrapped with a generous amount of filling. The hand cut noodles were thick and chewy. I highly recommend the hand cut version over the thinner ramen style if you enjoy thicker cuts of noodles such as udon. While good, I think the beef scallion pancakes could be crispier. It would add a much needed texture differential compared to the rest of the meal. Service was friendly and attentive. Seeing that we have a young child, our waiter quickly brought a highchair, extra napkins, forks and water in a cup that is suitable for children. I have to commend the choice of chairs for a casual establishment, they were very comfortable and leathery. Overall, I highly recommend Kung fu Kitchen if you're in the mood for dumplings and thick cut noodle soup! read more

I have been to one of their locations near Penn Station in New York. I love their soup dumplings and I am so glad that they open one of their restaurants in Boston. Prefacing this review by saying that this place isn't bad by any means but I do have notes for most of the dishes we ordered. I thinj it's a great place for people who are more beginner to Chinese food to try out, prices are a little high but normal for Boston Had to wait about 30 min for a table and entered the Yelp waiting list where the times were inaccurate (said it would be 4-12 min and was 3rd in line). They did state this on the login tablet but did not give info on what the actual estimated time would be. Xiao Long Bao: filling was okay but not a fan of the skin, it overall felt floppy and had no "bite" to it. The folds didn't have much definition to them either. The vinegar they provide at the table also was a bit sweet, traditional soup dumplings are eaten with black vinegar that is just sour Pan fried pork buns: These taste pretty good and would probably be good steamed too. The type of dough used is inaccurate to shanghainese pan fried pork buns and was too sweet too Stir fry hand cut noodle with chicken: This is definitely not shanghainese style noodles I'd say more like Hong Kong style and Chinese takeout-esque. They still tasted pretty good though and the chicken was very succulent. Great food but not worth the money. I ordered takeout and got 4 items (pan fried pork buns, scallion pancake with beef, roast duck stir fry hand cut noodles, house special stir fry hand cut noodles) and the total came out to $69.54. The main reason this is not worth the money is because the noodle dishes has barely any meat in them. The roast duck one had 3 pieces, 2 of which were small and almost entirely bone. The house special had literally 1 egg, 2 shrimp, and 1 thinly sliced 3 inch piece of beef. The pork buns were the best thing--perfectly cooked, flavorful, and juicy. The scallion pancakes were pretty good (a little oily). I found 2 hairs in the noodles which was the worst part of this all. read more

think we can here during the regular lunch rush so we joined the waitlist. we had to put ourselves down on the iPad right in front. the wait wasnt too long because most tables are just two people. they definitely can accommodate larger parties because they can move the tables around. the food took a bit longer for them to come out. the pork bun came out, assuming it was an appetizer. then the noodle soup came out, we were after done with the noodle soup before the hand cut noodles came out. luckily we were both sharing the dishes so the last dish came out as soon as we were done with the noodle soup. but if we werent sharing, i believe the noodle soup will be cool by the time the hand cut noodles come out if we are going to wait for all the dishes to come out before eating. the pork buns were really hot and flavorful but the pork was on the smaller side. the ramen noodle soup was different, didnt really drink the soup but the ramen wasnt really typical ramen, more of a white vermicelli thicker type of noodles. Hard to describe those noodles but the noodles were surprisingly good and different. it wasn't typical beef that you get in normal beef noodles but they are more of the beef you get in pho. have the say the noodle soup was different but we enjoyed it. the hand cut noodles had a good flavor. we wouldnt mind going back there again to try other dishes and smaller side dishes. read more

Noooooo.....so sad. The soup dumplings were off the charts, a solid 5. The pan fried pork and shrimp dumplings had really thick skins. They were big but completely uninteresting, and I ended pulling off the skin on every single one. The scallion pancake was fine, but literally had less than a whole scallion in the entire pancake. Our mixed drinks came out after our food, and the place was clearly understaffed. No ambiance which would be fine if the food had knocked it out of the park. Probably won't be back. read more
