The service at this Kung Fu Tea has gone downhill. It used to be hit or miss, but now it's just a miss. They can't even make a S'more Slushi correctly. The drink should have marshmallow fluff on the sides, graham crackers at the bottom, and a chocolate slushi base. The last three times we've ordered it here, there's been no marshmallow and only a light sprinkle of graham crackers. At that point, it's just a chocolate slushi. After giving this location multiple chances, we're done. We won't be coming back. read more

How nice to find this bubble tea store open late on a weeknight! A coconut winter melon drink hit the spot after I met my friend for an event at the Reston Community Center. That is right across the parking lot from this Kung Fu Tea. Kudos to Paola behind the counter. My only complaint is the drinks are consistently too sweet, even if you ask for them less sweet. The boba is that perfect Q texture, but even the boba itself is some of the sweeter boba I've had. The rose hip tea is one you actually can't order sweeter--they say they don't sweeten it--but boy is it sweet. I do love the floral taste though, so I can't complain too much. Wintermelon was also good--it tastes like the rind of a watermelon if you've never had the actual fruit before. In the winter months, if you're looking for a warm treat, look no further. Yum! First time here, won't be my last. Can't believe I've lived in Reston for almost 4 years and this was my first time ever here. I have limited experience in buying these types of teas simply because I haven't been to places like this many times in the past. So I asked for a recommendation and took their recommendation of a coconut milk tea with boba and a homemade, chocolate, chocolate chip cookie. My tea came up quickly and off I went. The tea had a nice blend of milk and sweetener and boba and was perfect. The cookie, which I wasn't expecting, had a nice, rich, delicious flavor. Second of all, there were not enough chairs inside because they took half the space with boxes of supplies. Third of all, we just wanted to sit and talk. 4 stars for now as they still need to work a few corks out. Came by this morning and was told they'll open sometime after 1 pm. I made sure to drive by here after work around 4 only to be told they'll open to the public around 5. Made it back here at 7 pm and they were finally accepting orders. It looks like they're still training their employees which is why they're a bit slow and just stumbling over each other in the working area, but they were friendly. I've noticed only 2 machines working for now which may slow down the process as well. I ordered my usual: the winter melon milk green tea with bubbles. Even though they messed up the order and 3 people who ordered after me got their drinks before me (they were apologetic about it), my bubble tea was as delicious as always. As an avid Kung Fu Tea customer and fan, this location is probably one of the worst I've been to (and I've given it NUMEROUS chances). For 1, the staff is always different, which is fine, but it goes to show that they clearly aren't hiring the right people or their turnover is crazy. Second, with the staff that they do have, I've only ever had a couple of people who actually provided good customer service. One time I went and the girl was so bizarre and rude to me I just walked right out (and I never have these kind of experiences). As someone who always gives things a fair chance, I can honestly say this location has let me down over and over again. My friends have had the same weird experiences here so I know I'm not crazy for thinking all of this. Not sure if management needs to hire better people, but customer service is really important in establishments like this when you just want a simple pick me up from a long day. read more

I'm really surprised they opened a location here instead of somewhere more populated, like Reston Town Center. Nonetheless, I'm excited that there's one in Reston so close to my in-laws. I might have come here all of the time when I still worked in Reston. I came in on a rainy night, and I wanted hot bubble tea. This location has some heat lamps that on a cold (non-rainy) day, would be great for sitting outside, especially since there isn't a ton of seating here. In the back, there is kft swag for sale. My oolong milk tea was served quickly and with perfectly cooked bubbles. I plan to bring some to my in-laws at some point to convert them into boba lovers! read more

I am a fan of KFT but not this particular location. The service here is very lackluster compare to the other locations that I have been to. The service isn't terrible but it can't compete with the super cheery and super helpful service of the others. My drink was way overfilled one time and I'm pretty sure one of the employees just watched me struggle to clean up the mess on my own. The trash can was also located away from the counter at the time, so it was wiping the counter with loads of napkins, dripping with bubble tea to the ground, while transferring the mess to the trash. I'm still a fan of the variety and customization that I get with KFT. This is the closest location to me. The service is quick but the quality of the service isn't too great. read more

This was our first time there, and we just had a few questions; they weren't too busy, but it was so hard for them to help us with our choice. There were two girls, one of them told me to read the menu "but I already did" I just had a question, 2nd one said that there were some flavors they don't have today and advised me to read the list on the handwritten paper on the front of the register. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Hubby and I came here because we were missing milk tea so much, but the whole experience was just horrible. The guy took our order looked miserable, he gave an attitude at any request the guys before us and we made (like why the need to show us your cranky face just because we said no boba bro?). I ordered a cocoa cream with milk cap. The woman made my drink was throwing cocoa power inside the cup, then put ice on top before putting milk and tea in. The cocoa powder, one that is not stuck at the bottom of the cup, is now just flowing all over my flavorless drink. It actually tastes so nasty. I am not a huge bubble tea or milk tea fan but I do really like the more standard iced teas. I got the Berry Green Tea and it was really good. You can adjust the sweetness on any of the teas. I got the less sweet version (70%) next time I think I will get it with even less sweetener and more ice. It had little berries on the bottom which were really good. My uncle was visiting from New York, so I wanted to take him somewhere he was familiar with. The whole family ordered 4 passion green teas, 1 honey green tea, and I got my favorite mango snow! I was so excited to see a Kung Fu Tea open in our neighborhood! We frequent this location due to it's convenience and my toddlers love of "boba!". It's definitely a modern, clean establishment. The staff is friendly. The service is quick. The menu has everything you'd expect. Our summer favorites we're the passion fruit slush, and strawberry lemonade green tea punch; both with bubbles. The honey Oolong milk tea is delicious if you're looking for something more simple. There are also hot options to keep you warm in the Fall and winter months, but we haven't tried them yet. There is room for improvement though. The bubbles in the tea lack persistency. I've only had the bubbles a proper texture once. Usually they're overly chewy, or a combination of chewy and squishy (in the same drink, but they're all different? Huh?!). This location has been open for months, and their change table for infants in the restroom is still in a cardboard box on the floor. read more

Kung fu black tea with bubbles, I was halfway to my house when I tasted it, and it tasted like soap. I don't really blame anyone, but just do some quality control so this doesn't happen again. Pretty neutral about this KFT so far since they're really new and just opened. My expectations about this may be a bit skewed since I visit the KFTs in Centerville and Tyson's corner quite often. I'd like to give this a 4, but think that it's not up to the standard due to the drink I got so it's a 3-3.5. Decor: Very clean and modeled just like the other KFTs. I actually like their cleanliness more than the others. Customer Service: Super nice employees that are very helpful. They're open to answering any questions from what I've seen with their other customer interactions. Drink: Super disappointed with my drink tbh. It was hella sweet, with little to almost no green tea and a shit ton of sugar. All I could taste was the passion fruit flavor. When I got home, I had to break open my drink, pour it in a cup, fill the empty plastic cup a little over halfway with water, and then fill the other half with my drink. That's how sweet it was. All the ice is also still in the plastic cup, which will help water it down more. I could not even taste the green tea at all. I get that this location is new so I'll still visit to see if it gets better over time and edit this review based on that. If anything, I'd say still go but keep an eye on what the color of your drink is supposed to be. I should've noticed that it was too orange before leaving. I'm so excited a Kung Fu Tea has opened up in Reston. What a great addition to some great restaurants in the area. I visited the centreville location pretty often because it's close to home but it's nice that there is one located in Reston for whenever I'm in the area too. Since they just opened, they're still working out through some kinks but service is still overall pretty good. Fast and friendly. I ordered the peach oolong tea with nata jelly and it's pretty damn good. I also had the herbal jelly with peach oolong, good but not as great as nata jelly. My husband, who doesn't drink much tea, ordered the honey black tea with extra sugar and he really likes it. I tried it too and I must say, it has a pleasant fragrant flavor. Love that you can customize so many different drinks here! And I love love that it's across the street from Ariake - Kung fu tea and ariake = HEAVEN! read more

I come here frequently. There is a huge selection of boba and it always tastes great. They used to have mini bubbles, I wish they'd bring them back! The regular size are still great. The store is clean and has tables to sit at, as well as nearby games you can play. My favorite drink is the winter melon milk green tea with boba. I also love the mango slush.
