    Lychee green tea with boba
    Gianna S.

Standard Kung Fu Tea menu with lots of different fruit teas, milk teas, slushes, etc. and they also sell refrigerated macarons here. You can customize ice and sugar levels from 0% to 100%. This is a really small location - there is no seating and only about 2-3 people can fit comfortably inside. It's not bad if you just want a tea to grab-and-go, and it is convenient to Washington Square Park and NYU. The interior was not the cleanest, but not overtly dirty, just dingy. A medium tea was $5.50 and $0.85 for adding bubbles, so total was $6.35 which is comparable to others in the area.

I've tried a lot of boba places in the west coast and this was just okay.. The bubbles/boba were average and not that chewy. The drink, lychee black tea, was also extremely sweet even though I only got 30% sugar!! Overall, just your average boba! FYI- currently, there's no indoor/outdoor seating! It's more like a banal booth where you order from!

    Amazing spot for boba

Amazing passion fruit boba always so consistently good Come check them out Buy 1 get 1 free

So if you have nothing to do And your partner won't give you a screw I know something better And very much wetter Get Lemon Black Tea from Kung Fu! What to get: Lemon Black Tea With Tapioca! Or: All the fruit teas are pretty good, especially if you go off menu and get black tea! Or: Go crazy and order your fruit teas with the very strong Oolong! Or in winter: Any of the hot milk teas! Which milk teas are best: Honey Oolong! Oolong! Maybe Taro or Almond! The Kung Fu Fighters are one of my favourite bands. Their biggest hit was "Learn To Fu" but I also really love "Ever-oolong." This is an excellent little Kung Fu tea and the main problem is that it's just down the street from Boba Guys so they don't get as much business as they used to. But it's a nice place to come to switch it up, it has actual seating, no bathroom but it has friendly people, and because Boba Guys is quite annovative and somewhat Californian, whereas this is more traditional Taiwanese - especially for the fruit teas which are by far the standouts here. If they will make the lemon black tea which is now an off-menu drink that is the way to go. It's amazing. With tapioca. And with that, let's rap. I tasted it and screamed so loud that I collapsed a LUNG FU I carried on screaming and sounded like Angus YOUNG FU They played Sting on the radio, but I'm already STUNG FU By the wondrous Lemon Black Tea they serve at KUNG FU I went to the toilet, opened Snapchat, then I SUNG FU Came back, took my pants off, and the girls yelled "HUNG FU!" In walked Barbie and immediately I'm SPRUNG FU And you should come and get a Lemon Black Tea from KUNG FU! WHAT

I think KFT is one of the better bubble tea shops in NYC compared to many other ones. Their bubbles are always made perfectly (chewy and not undercooked/overcooked) and they've got a lot of good drink options. The only downside is that they have $5 card minimum. I used to come here so often in college and the taste of their drinks was always consistent. My go-to is jasmine honey green milk tea with boba and it's soo yummy. If you are looking for a good bubble tea shop, this will not disappoint you!

Oreo milk tea and regular milk tea

Omg the only boba place I found while we were in NYC! We had to give it a try. We found it while we were walking near Washington Square Park. The place is pretty small but it was clean. I got their regular milk tea 'cause I wanted to see if it tasted any different from the boba places in the Bay Area. My bf got the Oreo Milk Tea and he didn't like it at all haha. The Oreo wasn't mixed and it was just crumbs on top of the actual drink. I like how both our drinks actually tasted like tea instead of just all sugar and boba. Maybe that's also because I got 50% sugar. Their milk tea definitely tasted different but it was a good different. They also give you both black and white boba but they taste the same to me. It was more hard than chewy though. We both got regular and we drank it fast! Should have gotten large instead. Definitely will stop by again!

A little too much red bean and bubble (and not enough milk) haha for this Red Bean Wow Milk

There are SO MANY drink places now that the line between certain drinks get blurred (and ultimately, it doesn't matter too much). Prices are pretty fair, though compared to all the other bubble tea places, this is on the slightly more expensive side along with its pricier counterparts ChaTime, TenRen, and Coco Fresh Tea & Juice. Though I'm an avid Yelper and foodie, I find that generally when I find good things at a place, I will stick to ordering that. In terms of red bean with milk and bubbles, Coco's is better, because their milk is lighter. I do have to give Kung Fu Tea props for giving me so much red bean and bubbles (though that may be because they accidentally gave me bubble milk tea instead at first!) As for the classic bubble milk tea, I personally think Kung Fu Tea's bubbles are the best. They're just the right amount of sweet, in contrast with the usually tasteless bubbles of other stores, and soft, yet chewy. The amount of sugar and amount of ice I want is never messed up like it does when I go to Yaya's. The Chinatown KFT is better tasting than this one though. EDIT: a lot of them don't have good English, so I tried to order Red Bean Wow Milk at ROOM temp (it's an option for "ice level") and the cashier put it as warm which is an extra $1. Then I said no, room temperature, and she changed it to that but size large (at the same price).

    Yelp mobile check-in offer

Excessive heat and humidity summons bubble tea for a cool down. This boba tea business is a microscopic indoor booth and no standing room as it is designed for takeout only and sits in the vicinity of NYU campus. I agree with the poor customer service. Upon checking-in with Yelp mobile application a check-in offer for one free topping appeared and I shown my phone to the female cashier who did not know what to do and passed me to her colleague as I was like unwanted animate object. The brash young naïve male server spent fifteen minutes attempting to decipher the Yelp check-in offer as he explained and instructed that I have to download their application and accumulate points to earn a free drink. Dude, my check-in offer is for one free topping with a purchase of a drink as I was NOT requesting for one free drink! The brash young naïve dude then blurted out "oh, I can't see!" which he was wearing glasses or perhaps very limited in the English language especially written, a L.E.P. person, as a cover-up excuse and incompetent to take orders. Whoa, this naïve male server held the line which further spewed outside the door for a longer wait as all I desired was one measly fruit tea drink $4.75 with a coupon for one free topping and lots of ice. Is this a very difficult drink order to take and fulfill? My experience and transaction was abject pain. Their toppings are very limited and awful as their nata mango jelly is hard, stale and very chewy sticky substance. I like grass jelly 涼粉 (loeng4 fan2, liang2 fen3) as a topping option, but Kung Fu does not offer. This bubble tea business is chain operated but obviously does not conduct corporate training nor hire staff that is proficient in the English language. Orders are fulfilled by calling out order numbers as written on sales receipt. Yes, direct competition is within one block away with a long queue that wraps around as I can imagine orders are taken and fulfilled accurately without any issues. Their staff is ready, able and competent in the English language unlike Kung Fu Tea.

Don't get me wrong. I love bubble tea and I think Kung Fu Tea has really great options for different kinds of teas (the passionfruit green tea is a good choice if you're not feeling the milk tea). However, like most franchises that open up on NYU's campus, this Kung Fu Tea pales in comparison to all the other ones I have gone to. The one in the East Village (10th Street and 1st Ave) is so much better. I had a pretty bad experience my first time here. One of my favorite things about Kung Fu Tea is that you have the option to have 70% or 50% sugar (most of their drinks are too sweet for me). HOWEVER, when I said 50% sugar for one of my drinks, it tasted like she thought I said 5% sugar because it was not sweet AT ALL. I thought I would give it another try a week later because maybe they were having a bad day - it happens, I get it. NOPE! I went with my friend who got 50% sugar and she said it wasn't sweet (proof that my first experience wasn't just an off day - they actually just cheap out on the sugar). Learning from my first experience, I got 70% sugar which was.....better? But not what it should've tasted like. ALSO: I've ordered in Mandarin and in English so it's not a communication problem. Don't come here if you've had Kung Fu Tea at other locations, because you will be disappointed. But if you do end up going, remember to bring cash!

    Oreo milk tea

The oreo milk tea is a good consistency of milk and tea. The boba is soft and chewy and has good texture. The oreo balances out with the bitterness of the tea. I think the drink is a good combination overall. Would come back here again. The price was a bit high however.

First time at this Asian tea spot by NYU which I had heard about through a YouTube vlog. Small little boba tea spot with a little bar seating (3 bar stools) facing the window to people watch. The menu is pretty extensive so I had a hard time choosing what to try for the first time. Since I love honey & green tea, I went with the Honey Milk Green Tea with boba (which is actually non-dairy so even better). At this place, you have the option to choose how icy and sweet you want your drink treat to be. Since it was my first time, I had them do the regular sweetness. It was actually perfect. The boba (or bubble as some others call it) was also prefect. Had a nice chew to it even after 10 min of drinking it. I've had boba in the past that were a little hard to chew after being in the ice for a while. So the bubble tea I had was a nice treat especially for a warm NYC day. They had other interesting items in the menu that I will definitely trying so you know I'll be back!

Love kung fu!!! Very friendly staff. Great customer service!! Would definitely recommend.
