Wanting some milk tea, I ended up coming to this Kung Fu Tea location. My husband forgot to grab his mask that was left in the car, a few blocks away (there is free street parking available but it may take a little bit of luck to find some on a Friday evening). He was hoping to see if this tea location had a mask on hand. When we came in, the employee was stern and told my husband he had to wear a mask or needs to leave immediately. When he asked if they had a mask for him, she said no and was rather on the rude side. We both understand the need to wear a mask (we are both health care providers) but there was no reason to be rude about it. My husband just waited outside while I made our order, which was: Herbal Jelly Wow Drink, $4.85 prior to tax- I ordered this drink for my husband, made with 50% sweetener and no ice. This drink comes with herbal black jelly and boba, definitely quite a delicious treat. I have ordered this drink before at a Kung Fu Tea closer to my home in Los Angeles and this tasted just as good as the one I had. Almond Milk Tea, $4.75 prior to tax- I ordered this drink to be made with 50% sweetener and no ice as well. I thought this drink was good and also taste the same as the one I have had at locations back home. ------------------------- (Total= $10.23 after tax) There is a 10% discount with Yelp check in. Drinks were good but service wasn't the most friendly. But to be honest, Asian places aren't exactly known for their customer service so that didn't bother me too much. However, they're still really good, and the fruit teas here are among the best. Especially the lemon black tea which absolutely rocks my world. If it's not on the menu, demand it! Other fruit teas (Berry, Orange, Grapefruit) must also be ordered off-menu as Black Tea instead of the meh Green. Lately I've been given inaccurate drink orders and terrible customer service.. For the past couple orders I've ordered a simple taro milk tea with less ice and 70% sugar. One visit I've tasted straight up water. I didn't taste it until after I got home and I contacted kft and they informed me there was nothing they could do. The second time it was completely the wrong drink. My last visit which was today, it was the same order and it tastes like straight up water once again. Go here pretty often and their drinks are always great! I usually just get their milk tea, avocado smoothie or brown sugar milk tea with tapioca. The tapioca is always perfectly sweet and chewy. Went into this location at 11.05 am this morning and stared at with a very confused employee. I asked if they were open and he replied back no. So I asked when do you open? Located on the busy roads of Malden, this spot is a smaller location that others I've been to but their Teas are still the best. Was quickly rung out and my tea was created just a few steps behind the cash register. Not much in terms of seating, maybe to deter the local student body from lingering long. Can get a little congested in the entrance as I can imagine during the summer time things can get a little busy. Bathroom is located next to the seating area and cashier which I can image can quickly turn the place a little sour quickly with someone doing their business. I usually go to the Chinatown branch for this but we we're at the Malden area and I was craving for some milk tea. So we decided to stop by since it's only 3 mins drive. I ordered a taro slush with no boba but when I was walking out the store I noticed that they gave me the wrong order. I was a little disappointed but I didn't want to come back to get it done again. It's was kind of busy and I didn't want to waste my time waiting. When I got home and tried my drink but it's super sweet I could barely even swallow it and they had boba inside when I asked for no boba. I don't know how I feel about that. I got my first ever bubble tea at this location a few years ago when they first opened. I love the location as it's located in Malden Square and easy to get to. I had the white grape slush today and it was pretty good though I thought it was incomparable to the mango slush which I'd recommend to everyone that reads this review. This is prob my favorite place to get boba tea. It's convenient for me. The parking isn't great. You would have to park on the street or park in the public parking lots available. Usually it is packed. The lines to order moves pretty quick. Sometimes I order through Uber Eats just because I don't want to deal with parking and the lines. If you are a regular they have a rewards apps and you can download and earn free drinks. I had to update my review based off of the poor customer service that I witnessed last night. The person at the register didn't greet me, I didn't think much of it. I place my order no problem it was once it was done their was no interaction and it felt as if he plopped my drink down with some type of attitude. I love kung fu tea and never had an issue but last night the behavior from that staff member was uncalled for. Mind you it wasn't even busy! I've worked in a fast paced restaurant and trust and believe I checked my emotions at the door before ringing up a customer. You never know how much they may have need that welcoming spirit. Kung Fu Tea never disappoints. My go-to is the taro milk tea with boba, and it tastes the same every time, whether I'm in NYC or Boston Chinatown or Malden. Before I start sounding like a marketing rep, I really do have no complaints here. My bubble tea always comes out quickly and is executed perfectly with perfectly cooked boba. Even my husband enjoyed this drink, and he doesn't normally like bubble tea. I have a rabid sweet tooth, so I enjoy it at the regular sweetness level, but if you have a true Asian palate, ask for less sweetness. I actually enjoy this location more than the Boston Chinatown one, which is always packed with barely any standing room. You can actually sit down with a friend here! This location is one of the larger ones I've been to. They have seating if you and your friends want to hang out. I've tried a couple milk teas (oolong milk tea, milk green tea, taro milk tea) and it comes out diluted each time. When ordering a slush drink, remember to request for "more ice"; if you don't, they will assume that you prefer a more liquid drink. During the most recent visit, I ordered the taro slush and the consistency was very similar to a taro milk tea. The drink was spilling out of the cup making it difficult to hold, let alone drink. Making the drink liquid-like, defeats the purpose of it being a slush. read more

My family and I went here this week to get a drink after dim sum. There was a queue and the wait was over 10 minutes. I ordered a red bean slush. When it came out, it was a reddish-brown color. I thought it would be a lighter color since they mixed it with milk. The color didn't look too appealing but the drink was good. However, I probably will order something else next time. read more

Yum! Bubble tea! Milk tea! Slushies! Smoothies! I'm in heaven! Did you know that they were open on Christmas Day? There was a line out the door and down the block. It is that good! I love that you can customize your drink so it is exa fly the way you like it. Everyone here is super friendly. It is usually busy so you would do best to decide what you want before getting in line. It is a super fun, modern, clean and KPoppy atmosphere I also love that you can order delivery through Uber Eats. It is super close to Boda Borg and Wanyoo Gaming Cafe (less than a 5 minute walk) so take the short walk down the street and check out Kung Fu Tea. You won"t regret it! This Kung Fu Tea(KFT) is just like all the other Kung Fu Teas around, consistent quality bubble tea made fast and fresh to order. There isn't too much to say about this spot if you had KFT before . If you haven't and are considering whether or not to try this particular brand. It's worth it! KFT milk tea can be customized with different levels of ice and sugar. I personally get boba milk tea with 30% sugar and less ice and no matter what store I go to, it's the same. the boba are tapoica pearls that are soaked in honey and have some sweetness to them too. So even if you get 0% sugar, you will still have a sweet drink. The black teat that they use has a bit of a earl grey flavor and might not be for everyone. Like I said early, if you haven't tried KFT this is spot is worth a try. If you've been here before, know that it is the same quality boba tea you'll receive and any of their other stores. Side note: They like to play K-pop really loudly in the store, which is consistent with their other locations. Unfortunately, they positioned the speaker immediately over the ordering counter. This requires you to speak loudly to the employee and then they have to yell back at you for you to complete the order. It's a funny transaction but also a really poor design. read more

While I still really like Kung Fu Tea, I'm never going to this location again. Sign on the door says only 5 customers in at a time. Wasn't enforced, at all. I ordered a simple drink that then took over 25 minutes. I watched as people who came in AFTER me, all got served ahead of me. When I asked why I'd been waiting for so long and at least 4 people, who came in after me got served sooner, the one woman working the counter made the excuse that they get a lot of on-line orders. Which didn't apply. Because all 4 who got served before me, had also placed their order *in person*, just like me. No attempt was made to apologize for the wait, or the mistake. That's pretty much all I wanted. If someone had at least said, "Oh, oops, that wasn't intentional. We'll get on that. Sorry.", along with some kind of an idea of aprox. how much longer I had to wait, I would have been okay. Excuses aren't an apology. Drove today 20 min to order my the bubble tea and after over 15 min on the line the person in charge didn't let me order because i didn't have mask (im fully vaccinated and also didn't read the sing before go inside). I'm truly disappointed with every order I had from this location. I never have any problems with ordering from Allston, Chinatown and previously, Symhony. My co-workers and I are huge fans of Kung Fu Tea that we always order about 5-7 drinks before we go to work. One time we ordered 7 drinks at the store and then the staff started complaining about our orders in mandarin and looking at us with bad looks. The other time we ordered Doordash. The delivery person came to pick up the drinks and they called to inform us that the drinks were not made yet and so delivery was delayed for another half an hour. Very inconvenient for Doordash and us. Today, we ordered a few drinks again from Doordash. All but mine were correct. I ordered red bean wow milk but they gave me red bean slush, instead. I cannot have a slush drink and so I was not able to drink it and they would not do anything about it. So sad that Malden is never consistent with customer service and thoroughness. read more

So first experience brought me back. Here's my first review: This place is so cool! Just try to find someone who speaks English if you don't speak Chinese. For me, it was only an issue because I am so picky and have dietary issues, but it turned out exactly how I wanted it despite the fact that there was a little difficulty around communicating with the employee taking my order. That being said, great vibe and delicious slushy made with only a splash of caramel and completely dairy free! Wooohooo! What a find! Second visit: Stood at the register for 10 mins. First, they said they cannot make the drink the way it was made before. Then they said ok but just this time after a few mins of back and forth. Then, they stood there and watched me try to get the coupon on yelp foe 10% off (when I asked if I could use that, it was rhetorical but she answered "yeah if you want" as she turned her back on me) and when it didn't work three times in a row, someone came over like she was going to know how to fix he issue. She said just this once. Wow so sweet to make all of these exception begrudgingly. And then tell me again that it was just this once and we can't do that after talking about me in hushed tones. The staff at this Kung Fu Tea are very friendly. I could tell they were slightly stressed with the amount of customers when I came in, but as long as you are friendly to the staff (which you should always be friendly to food service workers), they will be friendly back. I actually bought a reusable stainless steel boba straw at another Kung Fu Tea and the cashier complimented me about it and she said she wished their location had the reusable straws. She was very nice :) I tried the Rosebud Milk Tea with half the flavor and pearls (I usually get boba tea with 50 or 30 percent sugar, however this flavor didn't use sugar but used a flavor powder instead so I had to do half the flavor). Even with the half flavor, there was nothing lacking. It was still too sweet for me, but it tasted like yogurt and it was a great treat in a hot summer day.
