Bits and Bites is a nice addition to the Saugus area, especially for anyone looking to try Filipino food. They have a really interesting menu with a variety of drinks, dishes, pastries, ice cream, and plenty of ube-flavored items. For drinks, we tried the Mango Mansi and the house blend iced tea, and both were really refreshing. For our meals, we ordered the Tapsilog and Pork Silog. Both had great flavor, but unfortunately, the portion sizes were disappointing for the price. There was very little meat and the plates were mostly rice, which made the price point feel a bit high. The food itself was delicious, but the portions made it difficult to feel like the meal was worth the cost. For something sweet, we tried the ginger molasses cookie, which was good and a nice way to finish the meal. Service was nothing that stood out just standard. If you sit down they will bring it out to you which is nice. Overall, I'm glad to have a Filipino restaurant option in Saugus, and there are definitely some unique and interesting things on the menu that are worth trying. There's plenty of seating for both small and larger groups, although parking can be a little tricky since it's located right on Main Street. A good meal with lots of unique options, but with the portion sizes compared to the prices, I'm not sure we'd return. read more

They were pretty busy but moving the line along quickly. I got the kitchen sink wrap and the ube latte. My wife got the s'mores cinnamon roll and I think it was the smores latte. I realized right when we were next that they had Filipino inspired breakfast dishes, I should've got one of those, but I didn't want to take more time to figure out what I wanted. That's my fault. My burrito was good, just what you'd expect. Wasn't much filler which was nice. It was good. I wouldn't go back for it but I'd definitely go back to try one of their other options. It was a good and cozy breakfast, just wish I would've realized sooner they had a second menu. read more

They have great homemade food and a wide selection of baked goods that are Ube flavored! We love the rice plates we got, however, I do think the Ube Latte is a bit watered down. The servers were super friendly and took the time to explain what the dishes were since it was our first time there. There have ample seatings and street parking outside of the restaurant. Instagram alerted me of this bakery, but of course I live 2 hours away. Luckily, my husband decided to treat me to a spontaneous visit since we were heading to Boston from New Hampshire. My expectations were high, and I seriously was not disappointed! I ordered the Purple Sunrise Latte with a Tuna Melt, my husband had the Pandan Latte with a breakfast sandwich, and my daughter had spaghetti which I believe was a special. First off, both drinks were AMAZING. It's hard to find any ube coffee beverage that actually tastes like ube, but Purple Sunrise nailed it and also had a nice brown sugar taste. The food was delicious - my daughter can be picky with pasta but she liked this one and the amount was more than generous. I also grabbed some amazing goodies to go - Ube Pandesal, Ube Ensaymada, Classic Ensaymada, and Ube Tres Leches. I wished I lived closer, but at least now I know this will be a bakery I must stop by during all future Boston trips! read more

i love supporting local so when my friends wanted to stop at the dunkin around the corner i trekked over to see what was going on with bits and bites and what an INCREDIBLE hidden gem!! walking in you are greeted with a plethora of goodies and treats, and seating is further in to the left. seating area is clean and plentiful and there is a bathroom for customers. ordering was pretty fast and i got a breakfast sandwich and the purple sunrise, which comes with rice milk so i got to have a fun alternative milk that isn't my almond milk! it was so tasty and even came with fun crunchies on the top. service was fast and while i was aww'ing at the fact that they drew a snoopy a worker silently slipped another snoopy drawing for me to take!!! such sweet people and they want to take care of you. i will definitely be back!! read more

Guy who gave our drinks wasn't friendly we said thank you for attending us and he gave us a stank look the girl at the register is not KID FRIENDLY!!!!! Taste wise it was bad to the point where we went to market basket and the coffee was WAYYYY better then theirs and a small coffee was $2 each at market basket and at bits & bites they charge you $9 for a regular size that looked like a small size. read more

Came here on Sunday at 8:30 with my family if 4. Place was pretty empty. We ordered their recommendations of Topsilog plate, breakfast plate, and we read that the Tacos empanadas was good so we ordered that as well. Drinks: Ube banana matcha, Panda Latte and Mango juice. My kids enjoyed it all. From the bakery we got turnover, Ube crinkles, matcha crinkles, ube canoli. All in all it was tasty, just like another review said it tends towards the sweet side. I'm thinking it's catered toward the local clientele. I would come back for the bakery items. Another note, everything is served on disposable eating and drinking ware for easier cleanup. Not a full service venue, you clean up after yourselves. read more

The Boston area needs more good Filipino food options like Bits & Bites! My partner and I came for breakfast on a Saturday and enjoyed the Filipino-style Dim Sum Combo. I also got the ube matcha, which was yummy. All the food was delicious and the employees were super friendly. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu! read more

We had a very positive experience here on a Sunday morning. They had plenty of seating as well as space in their dining area. We started off with a latte that was Ube flavored. For lunch or brunch we got the Top silog. The beef was super flavorful. I wish they did some latte art with our latte given how pricey it is. Nevertheless, the service was great. I feel like a latte and a platter like this would be perfect for a brunch date! read more

Super cute inside! And the baristas are super friendly. An amazing presentation of pastries at the entrance, plus more space next to the main area for comfortable dining. The banana pudding ube matcha and iced pandan latte were super good, not too sweet. The blueberry scone was amazing as well, good ratio of berries and bread. Will come back for their other drinks! *Street parking (not crowded) read more

My friends and I had visited here for Boston Asian Restaurant Week, so they had a special menu that contained dishes they normally wouldn't have, and I enjoyed every one of them. My friends decided to drive quite a bit to get here, so I knew the experience would be a pleasant one. The prime rib tapsilog was excellent, with the egg perfectly fried to release the yolk, the garlic rice containing flavorful garlic bits at the top to provide flavor, and the beef having the right amount of tenderness and flavor. I also loved the ube affogato because the combination of espresso and ube ice cream made it a heavenly experience, as I could taste multiple flavors within one "drink" if that makes sense. The salad was pretty standard, with some raw vegetables and vinaigrette. Another factor worth pointing out is that the establishment had a fire playlist, containing lots of old school hip hop and R&B music, and I found myself dancing to it and singing to it the whole time I was there! While I am not sure when I'd be able to return here again, I enjoyed everything I had when I was there and would definitely recommend it to all that are around the Boston area! read more

Bits & Bites Bakery + Cafe -- Saugus, MA 488 Lincoln Ave, Saugus, MA 01906 Wow -- what an incredible spot! Bits & Bites Bakery + Cafe truly does it all -- breakfast, bakery, lunch, and everything in between -- and they do it so well. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back before you've even finished your meal. Drinks: Ube Matcha Latte Matcha Biscoff Latte If you've got a sweet tooth, these two are calling your name. Both are super sweet, indulgent, and absolutely satisfying -- perfect dessert-like drinks. 9/10 Hibiscus Mansi A bold, refreshing combo of tangy hibiscus and zesty calamansi -- citrusy, floral, and super bright. Calamansi with Butterfly Pea Flower Tea This drink is magic in a cup! It starts deep blue and shifts to golden sunshine, with a vibrant lemony, citrus-forward flavor. Both of these non-latte drinks lean tart and citrusy, and I loved how refreshing they were. 8/10 Bakery Items: Ube lovers -- do not, I repeat, DO NOT skip the ube here. Ube Crinkle Cookies Ube Cannoli Ube Ice Cream The ube cannoli is a standout -- such a creative and fun twist on a classic. Everything ube here is spot-on and worth ordering 10/10 Breakfast & Lunch: Tapsilog (10/10) If you're only getting one thing -- let it be this. The beef is marinated using the owner's grandmother's recipe, and you can taste the love. Paired with garlic rice and a perfectly cooked egg? Absolute perfection. Birria Tacos (9/10) Better than some dedicated Mexican spots I've tried. The broth is flavorful, well-seasoned, and -- importantly -- not greasy. Ultimate Breakfast Chorizo Sandwich (9/10) A chorizo patty, hashbrown, cheese, and a sunny-side-up egg on an English muffin -- it's heavy in the best way. Super satisfying, and exactly what you want in a breakfast sandwich. Ambiance: Adorable cartoon-style decor, plenty of seating, and an overall welcoming vibe. 8/10 Affordability: Pretty standard pricing for a bakery/cafe spot. The meals were well portioned too 7/10 Final Thoughts: If you've been curious to try Filipino food, or just want really good food, this is your sign to go. Bits & Bites is a 10/10 spot, hands down. Don't sleep on it. read more

This cute Philippino restaurant is a little out of the way, but it makes up for warmth and variety. There was so much to choose from that I had a little decision paralysis. There are so many different types of drinks, desserts, and warm entrees, but fortunately the workers are very helpful. I really enjoyed the mango-mansi drink (mango and calamansi), which was very refreshing, sweet and a little tart. I also really like the ube crinkle cookies, they had a good chewy texture and weren't too sweet. The matcha one was good but not as chewy. The ube dinner rolls were great too, but I didn't realize they had cheese on the inside. They heat it up for you too, but just FYI, it probably needs to be heated up for longer because of the cheese. I like the beef plate as well, and my friend enjoyed the noodle and chicken dish. Overall would recommend this cute little restaurant! One of the few Philippino places, and there is so much seating inside and the decorations are very cute. read more

I'm obsessed with how adorable and tasty the treats at Bits and Bites Bakery are! Located in Saugus, Bits and Bites is an Asian-owned Filipino bakery with tasty desserts and authentic Filipino food/meals. There is plenty of street parking nearby, although there is no lot, the street parking is quite convenient. The actual bakery itself is quite cozy, there are 3-4 tables if you do decide to eat at the cafe. When I visited, my mom and I were immediately greeted with terrific & friendly customer service! I forgot his name, but he was so wonderful and gave some recommendations. We ended up getting a matcha crinkle cookie, an ube crinkle cookie, an ube cannoli, and pandan and ube lattes. My favorite dessert was the matcha crinkle cookie! All the desserts weren't too sweet (perfect for me!). The matcha crinkle cookie stood out to me though since there was a bit of a chewy mochi texture in the middle. The matcha was strong too, which I enjoyed. Everything was delicious though! I loved the Pandan latte as well, there was a strong Pandan flavor and it wasn't masked by the coffee. Overall, Bits & Bites is a must-try if you're in the area. Whenever I'm up on the North Shore, I try to make it to Bits & Bites to grab some of their desserts. Next time, I'd love to get their food! read more

Absolutely delicious bakery/cafe spot in Saugus! I stopped by for some delicious cookies and a matcha latte and they didn't disappoint. There's a ton of fun pastries to choose from but I definitely recommend trying their ube flavored treats. They also have a lot of fun coffee flavors. It wasn't bad and the interior was very roomy and had a good decoration. I like how in Boston (or the surrounding areas) that a place like this exists because it's good to have representation of Filipino food in a place without many Filipinos. The menu was super fun and the people were very nice. I got the pork adobo puffed pastry and it was quite dry inside. I took everything to go and heated it up but even then I don't think it should be that dry. The pork sisig with garlic rice was good. I've never had pork sisig before so I won't pretend to be an expert. It reminded me of a chicken salad because the outside was coated in mayo. I enjoyed eating it but wished the rice had more of a garlic flavor. I also feel like everything was a bit too expensive for what is given. The service size is a bit smaller for this meal. Despite that, I will be back because I hope a place like this succeeds and there are a lot of other menu items to try. read more

The last time I came here it was unbearably busy and crowded so I panicked and got a caramel macchiato (my typical latte order from Starbucks). Today I was brave and got an ube latte and wowwww this will be my new drink going forward. It's a beautiful purple color and the taste is not overly sweet, just right. There are healthy breakfast items on the menu and an array of beautiful baked goods available for purchase and everything is very reasonably priced considering how artful it looks. The cafe is small with small tables but good news: they're expanding with the space next door. Looking forward to coming here more. read more

The owner is very friendly and you can tell she loves what she does! My favorite items were the calamansi juices, ube tres leches, and ube pan de sal (filled). The tosilog was sweeter than I was used to but still a great plate! The espresso is not very bold in the pandan latte and we wished the flavor of the pandan came through more. We also loved the peach mango pie and matcha white chocolate crinkle cookie! Overall, such a cute spot that is very comfortable to enjoy some fantastic Filipino treats! First of all, kudos to the place as it is new and nice and clean. Also, the staff are nice and hard working. The service was good.Congratulations on that! I believe they recently acquired the space adjacent to them so now there's a lot of room. However, the space between the door and where the order is taken and where the baked goods are, is narrow and awkward. As soon as you enter the door, there's not enough space specially if there's already a few people in line. Also, that door is the same door being used for people to go out after they're done eating if they choose to dine in. It just gets so crowded in that one space so easily. Hope they can do something about it so there's a better flow. With food, I ordered Tapsilog. It is an entree and dessert in one. Beef TAPA is not supposed to be that sweet! I was pretty disappointed. I understand Tocino can be sweet or Longganisa, sure, but Tapa, I don't think so! But it's ok, I'll be going home in the Philippines soon and will eat the authentic Tapa that I'm used to, growing up. Also, is the "empanada" birria style a reinvention of the real empanada? Because if it is, well I'm pretty disappointed. They are tacos (with sweet ground meat too)! They are not empanada. Stop changing it! It's a disrespect to the popular Ilocano empanada, or any empanada for that matter. There are classics that are meant to remain classic. The Cassava ube cake was good but the Calamansi cake/pie is a little sour to my liking. I hope they take this review as a suggestion for the better. I don't want to be hating on anyone. I genuinely want this cafe to succeed. read more

Not a lot of Filipino bakeries where I'm at. I saw a video on Instagram that drew me in. The location is on a busy street, virtually no parking. I usually subtract a star, but for this place- i simply cannot. The customer service was pleasant. Nice group of people. They have many purple yam items, something not too common. I've been craving it. Was happy to see it. I got the purple yam ice cream and coffee brownie, tres leches, cake, and crinkle. Yes i know, very "big backed" of me, but i didn't care. That crinkle...........Bussin out the SEAMS. I wish i got more. I almost cried when i finished it. The tres leches was good- had mints of coconut. Was very light. The cake was ok. A bit dry, i think the frosting was a bit too light. Still good. The ice cream was delicious, reminded me of the ice cream my grandma had in the freezer so so good. The coffee brownie ice cream HIT DIFFERENT. Definitely try both if you can- I'd suggest in different cups or at different times so you can truly taste each one. Cannot wait to go back. read more

So disappointed with this place that had apparently good reviews. Was excited to try and support Filipino establishment. I understand busy time of the day and week to come but the cashier should be more efficient in taking orders so the lines will not build up. The layout of the restaurant not exactly that efficient either! The breakfast was not typical Filipino fare, for one tapsilog taste like tocino!! The tocinolog did not taste like tocino! I'm confused and disappointed!! Suggest to rename it and make it your own spin and not call it as it is because it is not!! Completely agree with one 3 star review In the reviews!v At least it is honest review. Will keep you posted on the sweet stuff. read more

We were so excited to come in expecting to experience Filipino hospitality and it was disappointing. Idk if it was too early (10 am) or if the cashier guy is underpaid but it was just me trying to pick out some overwhelming amount of choices of food at the cash register( their menu is all over the place, pay attention at the cashier table and on the right side and top of the cashier and then they have stuff on the left) , it wasn't even busy to be greeted in a snobbish manner. I had All the time I was literally the only one up, which then reflected onto the entree food lol the plate didn't have much Filipino soul breakfast. Sprinkled tomatoes and beef tapa tasting like Tucino with rice, For $15- if you're Filipino just go make it at home. I do recommend their sweets. So if you're going for desserts and drinks I can't deny that it's good. read more
