We LOVE St. Peter!…read more We were first introduced to St. Peter by a friend because they offered a preschool program that accepted 3 and 4 year olds which was exactly what we needed as our boys are a year apart. After some time, our daughter who was going to public school in Schaumburg asked if she could transition to St. Peter after seeing the wonderful teachers and welcoming culture they had (and she wanted to learn more about Jesus). After attending a day at St. Peter as a visiting student and giving her winter break to think about it, we decided as a family to move her over and we're so glad that we did. Not only did our daughter get to learn and build a relationship with Jesus Christ, but she also come out so much stronger academically than her friends at in public school. She is now entering her freshman year at high school and has multiple accelerated classes and is preparing to be a 3-sport athlete. On top of the academic preparedness, we have fallen in love with both the school and the church because of its close-knit community. Our family was recently displaced from our home and the amount of support that we've received from the staff and other families of the school has been unreal. If you want your kids to excel academically, grow up in a loving, supportive community and have a true relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, you need to check out St Peter School!

She's tenured and they cannot fire her. She repeatedly yells at my daughter and berates her. Today she saw my daughter showing another student a drawing, she snatched it out of her hand, crumpled it up and left her in tears until the end of the day. She intentionally humiliated her and left her in tears over showing her friend a drawing. I wish I could say this is all that happened but I've had other parents coming up to me questioning me why their own kids are telling them how mean she is to my daughter. DO NOT send your kid to fourth grade here. Mrs. Allor is her name and she should not be teaching children. My name is Jason Pierce. I love the rest of the staff here, from pre through 8th they have great teachers. I personally do not understand why this woman is working with children.

I am forever grateful to Emily for the fantastic work she did with my son. She went way beyond what…read morea normal tutoring center normally would do. She "really cared" about my son's wellbeing. The personal care my son received was extraordinary. My son was getting C's, D's and F's in school. He was becoming depressed. His self esteem was low. He said, "Mom, I'm not that smart". His school said, "You parents are all alike. You always think your child is smart, but most children are just average". That's when I took my son to the Glen Ellyn Tutoring Center. Emily said, "when a smart child doesn't do well in school, check his vision". I did. The school had told me he had 20/20 vision. In fact his vision was very poor and he had difficulty tracking words when he read. Two problems overlooked by his school. He also had attention problems due to elivated levels of lead in his body. After these problems were fixed, my son started to get all A's and B,s. My son had to make up for wasted years in school during which he couldn't see the board or concentrate well. Emily helped him catch up. My son now has a lot of self confidence and will begin work on his doctorate at UAB this fall. This wouldn't have happened without Emily's help. She really goes all out for her students.

Her willingness to partner with myself as a parent in my child's education makes me feel motivated to do more. Students today must pass computerized tests to be allowed/given permission to take classes. Instead…read moreof advising you of classes you should take, they replace everything with a requirement. Funny, they said this was what tax payers wanted, but I was never asked. They would not let me take a math course, but I took and passed a harder one somewhere else. They now require, not advise, a math course, or passing of this test just to take many courses like earth and environmental science. Courses that I sat through, and even the instructors admitted there was little or no math in them. They blame the state, but it is really there corrupt board. They should not always be able to decide what they think is in our best interests. As a tax payer and student, I should have the right to take anything that pleases me. I even have the right to fail. Did you know College Algebra will not fulfill fulfill the AA math requirement? Ever wonder why? They set up a system that by default we haft to take more and more classes. So far most of all the instructors I have had are great! Some are only one-sided, but most, especially the part-time teachers really work hard. But the umbrella they work under is all about money.

I can't blame the…read moreschool- even back in the 70s when it was new they did some pretty neat stuff, and had some great teachers! Mr. Whitman was my 1st grade teacher- he took the time to teach us all how to play chess! He was totally "searching for Bobby Fischer!" We had great big vinyl chess boards, big pieces, and he'd get on the overhead projector and have this little chess board transparency, and he'd show us the moves. At the end of 1st grade we were playing legitimate chess games, even if we were too young to understand any real chess strategy. Mr. Clair used to tell us great stories in 2nd grade- everybody loved that guy! Too bad the school was so stuffed we got stuck taking classes in "the mobiles." Mobile homes- haha. Mr. Lucier was a nice principal- he played ukulele at school events all the time! I was sent to his office lots of times for getting in trouble, and he always pointed out the nice picture he had on his wall that my well behaved older sister had painted when she went to Dirksen. Miss Schumacher was HOT! They had a "gifted" program where some of us selected few would be picked up by the 'tard cart and taken to a separate school- all the dist. 54 grade schools fed the program. I hated getting teased for being picked up by the stubby bus for that, and the actual gifted program was no fun. The teachers there tried so hard to engage us it felt demeaning somehow... I knock one star off for Mrs. Nank. That fat old battle-ax would beg cookies out of the lunches of her 4th graders! Worse- she's beg back and shoulder massages from us! I was so completely disgusted by her behavior... Words can't describe.
