I'd give zero stars if I could…read more When we first started looking for a nanny for our kids, 4 years and 5 months old, stability was our top priority. We had a long chat with Linda from Jovie about this, and I honestly thought we were on the same page. We trusted them to find us a nanny who would be with us long term. Here's what happened. Our nanny, who was fantastic and really clicked with our kids, ended up leaving for another job Jovie showed her only after being with us for 11 weeks. Once we found out we spoke with our nanny and she said she loved our family, in fact she told us it was a difficult decision to make and she would love to come back if we needed her for date night, etc. This new position Jovie showed her had a schedule that better fit her needs. What's unprofessional is that Jovie didn't give us a heads up until the day before she was set to leave, though they knew about it four days earlier. That hit us hard because it was unexpected, and it put us in a bind trying to figure out what to do next. Two replacements were offered. One with limited experience, her qualifications showed she had only 1 day of infant training. The other replacement we weren't shown a resume because she had not completed orientation. We were not interested in these two options. We were very clear we wanted long term care and ultimately this internal transfer our nanny made hurt our children's wellbeing. And seeing our 4-year-old so upset and confused about why his nanny just disappeared has been the hardest part. Our family trusted Jovie and they let us down and most importantly let our children down. I'm not one to complain, but I feel I have to be straight with other parents out there. Based on what we went through, if you're looking for dependable, long-term childcare, you might want to think twice about Jovie. It's a tough lesson we learned about the difference between what a company promises and what they actually deliver. Shame on Jovie and Linda for putting our kids and family through this emotional situation.

I've been really impressed with the folks at Study Point. For one thing, they are super honest --…read morehere's the story: About four years ago my son was struggling in school. He was in middle school, and his counselor recommended this company, which sends private tutors to students' homes. It was called Study Smart back then. We bought a package of 12 lessons, and after about six of them my son decided he'd had enough tutoring (he hates anyone trying to help him). The company could have just taken the money for the remaining six lessons and disappeared -- I probably would have forgotten about it. And the name had changed to StudyPoint, which would have been a good excuse to write me off. But the people there kept checking in. My son kept saying he didn't want a tutor. Eventually, my daughter reached middle school and started struggling in math and science. So the next time the nice Study Point lady (Jill) called, I asked if the six remaining lessons could be transferred to a sibling, and she said yes. She took a lot of trouble (remember, she already had the money) to find the perfect tutor for my daughter -- one who has a strong science background, and is good at organizational skills -- and checked back in after the first lesson to see if the two of them hit it off. If they hadn't, a new tutor would have been found. The tutoring sessions are 60 or 90 minutes long, depending on the age of the child. The professionalism I've seen from this national organization has been really impressive.

Finally getting the tutor he wasn't on the same page. I'm not sure he had been trained for their sales pitch. He was ineffective and the thousands of dollars would have been more effective to flush down the Toilet.
