I went to James B. Conant High School for a congressional debate tournament. The modern looking…read morelibrary served as great place to host the coaches and judges. The classrooms were all different, set up to serve different teachers and classes. Some classrooms still had chalkboards. The cafeteria worked great to serve as a student lounge and hold lunch. James B. Conant High School is a great school Academically and shows great ccommitment to its athletics and activities. I highly recommend James B. Conant High School!

Parents! READ THIS POST! (Please)…read more As my daughter has been growing up, I have always had the slight "fear" that she needs to be in a, not good, but GREAT school. I do believe that Elementary schools do shape who they will become. This is when their minds are still wanting to absorb information and this is when they are still free-spirited. When I was looking into moving, I was trying very had to find a school nearby. My moving was dedicated to a great school district. I came across an apartment complex and found out about this school in their district. Of course, I did my research on the school before I settled on my lease. After reading about studies and reviews on this school, I gave it a chance. Boy, I could NOT be any HAPPIER. She is enrolled in Kindergarten and the transition mid-year for her was GREAT. When I had toured the school and expressed my concerned that she was transferring schools mid-year, they did take everything into account. When she attended her first week, she LOVED it. Her teacher is VERY attentive to all of her students as well as the parents (this is usually not likely). I was able to contact her teacher with any concern(s) I had via email or phone and she was VERY prompt in her response(s). Each child in the classroom was so well-rounded, as in they were go kind to each other. You were able to tell that they were well disciplined at school in order to come home and implement the same mind-set taught to them. The office staff there in the administration part was not too friendly. When I came in, I get it that I was there at 7am when they opened, but that doesn't excuse their behavior towards me. I had the reaction of "oh goodness" from the staff. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was really early. When I came in for several other visits, they did treat me with more respect, acknowledging that they had remembered me (*phew). Now that I have gained my "want" in the office, I realized that the school truly does care. This post could be because I'm still a Noobie to the whole parenting idea, and having my child involved in schools, but this school is truly GREAT. I'm a young mom, and I see the potential in this school to mold my daughter to be a great person.

Beyond that, the athletics and extra-curricular activities that are offered there not only enhance the in-class experience but can give you opportunities that can be more valuable than what you learn in the classroom. As an employee and coach, I can tell you that the teachers and staff are some of the most caring and dedicated professionals that I have ever worked with. The school works hard everyday to live up to the high standards that they have set for themselves. There is a reason that John Hersey High School is consistently ranked as one of the best high schools in Illinois and the United States. I highly recommend John Hersey High School!

An excellent school…read more Note: I am a St. Viator alum, class of 2001. I had an excellent education at this school, and would recommend it to everyone. Class sizes are somewhat small, and for the most part, the faculty is great. During my time as a student, I found the faculty to be very caring. They work hard to make sure every student excels. This is something I think helped to turn me around from an average student in Freshman year to a great student with a passion for learning in my Senior year. One thing to be aware of: this school has a mandatory drug testing policy for all students starting in Fall 2007.

Our experience with this school was extremely disappointing…read more Our 9-year-old son was isolated and subjected to ongoing bullying by a group of boys. The situation was visible to teachers and staff, yet we as parents were never informed about what was happening. Instead of protecting a child who was clearly struggling, the school allowed the behavior to continue and left him to cope with it on his own. What is most concerning is that while our son suffered the consequences of this bullying, the students involved continued to receive recognition and rewards, with no visible accountability for their actions. A school's first responsibility is to provide a safe and supportive environment for its students. In our experience, this school failed to meet that responsibility.

Buffalo Grove is overall a disappointment. The councils office is a mess where they are so disrespectful to students and when a student is depressed or needs help they puniSh the student. Most bullying cases that are reported a staff member will say "just get over it" "be the bigger person" or "maybe he/she Likes you." The WiFi never works so no student can do work so the kids grade drops even though it's not their fault. Food and drinks are overall too expensive and during lunch periods the school favors "smart" kids and closed off other places to eat even if all tables are filled in the cafeteria. Most staff is disrespectful to the students. Don't get me wrong some staff is nice but with all these strict policies it limits a students creativity. Dress code is too strict and targets girls and just because someone is on varsity they can get away with anything. I wish I would of transferred freshman year but I was stuck. But you just have to find the staff that actually cares and is actually nice even though it's hard they can help you
