Since he started Kumon, he established good work habits while he is doing Math and Reading everyday. I am very pleased that he is much more confident at school. My older kid who is 7th grade, taking Algebra Honors course at school. He started Kumon at beginning of this year because he is making careless mistakes at school. Because his lack of Math drill, he started Kumon on much lower level but he is catching up fast now. I am very confident that Kumon will be beneficial for both of boys and looking forward to see my kids improvement over the summer.

Update 7/21: We received a phone call after the fact trying to rectify and reschedule, so changed…read moreto 3 stars from 1 because they explained the individual that was supposed to meet with us was in a daily conference with parents of enrolled siblings. I still feel this could have just been explained to us during the time we just stood there or someone could have just rescheduled, I do think it's admirable that they care enough to spend the time talking to parents of enrolled students (hence the bump). I'm still no longer interested in enrollment though. 7/20: 1 star We were very excited to enroll our daughter in Kumon, as we have friends with children in Kumon, but in different location. We scheduled an assessment and appointment about a 5 days in advance (they are very busy and this was the earliest we could get). We arrived for our assessment, and our daughter was taken back to complete it. We waited outside (due to coiv.... very understandable). No one explained the process to us, just gave us some paperwork to fill out and review while we waited for our daughter's assessment to be completed. Once she was done, we had to ask what we needed to do next. after some confusion, someone told us we could wait inside. Then we waited, 20 mins (mind you, there were no chairs, just a window to lean on). We asked if we were waiting for someone, and they said, yes, someone would be out to talk with us shortly. We waited another 10 mins, and asked again what exactly we were waiting for, and they said someone would be with us. After another 10 mins, we gave up and left. We were set up for a 1 hour appointment, and left with our kid having only done a 10 min assessment in that time. They just seemed really unorganized and extremely busy. Not the best impression to make when seeking this kind of service. Parents should be aware that you cannot drop off your kid and return at the end of class... you must wait outside or in your car. The only plus was that our daughter said her assessor was really nice.

Just to get a really secure foundation, you know? Everyone was just so attentive it was amazing! Mr Brandon and his dad are the nicest folks ever. My son loved it. I actually ended up signing him up then and there on an experimental basis (he was still technically a bit too young so they understood that). He loved it, he did a bunch of fun stuff. He's still Mr Brandon's biggest fan and waves hi to the storefront on days when we go to the McDonald's across the parking lot on our way home from school. It turned out the age limit was there for a reason, he just didn't have the attention span for it yet. But the amount of effort they put in to trying to make it work was just mindblowing. This is a brilliant place and they're brilliant teachers. I would recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat.

In junior year of HS he breezed through Calculus BC and Physics with straight A's. Next year is Statistics in math, AP physics and yet another math class over the summer. He finds these classes interesting and fun! I think everyone would ace math if this was the normal curriculum and I wish it was. Kids are beating themselves up for not being smart enough where in reality they're just not taught the right way. I now have a teen who thinks math is fun and easy! Thanks to Mathnasium!

Northern VA schools were by and large good, and known entities to my wife and I, having lived in the area for years. Friends of ours had a daughter who did after-school work at C2, which eventually led us to reaching out for SAT prep - something neither of us did. Miss Jessica deserves kudos for the effort she puts out to go the extra mile. I wish some of the school counselors, and definitely some of the teachers we have dealt with would take the same level of concern she did. I guess you get what you pay for, sad to say. Any time my wife had an issue, she seemed to step up and help. She's the one you want to deal with. They don't let you talk to the teachers, but we still got reports on classroom activity (it's three students at a table, not one on one), and despite not meeting them, Shawn had a good rep, and Ted always seemed helpful. We liked the idea of combining with other driven students, as sometimes our child can take a little extra motivation. SAT score went up, grades went up, happy parents, happy student. Overall, we're happy enough that we'll be looking here for after-school tutoring as well. We hope there's another Miss Jessica to make us feel at home again!

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES…read more This school is the worst school I've ever seen. first of all they give way too much homework. the homework is so much that i have to do the homework for the whole day! And the homework is way too hard that we had to hire a tutor to come every day! Second of all is uniform. The uniform in this school is so uncomfortable and we have to buy about 20 uniform and they don't even give us money to buy the uniform. Third of all is the costs. The school is so so so! Expensive even with the uniform and the tutor and the lunch menus and the monthly payments and the stuff for the science fair and the school supplies! Fourth of all is the size. The school is sooo small that every grade has one classroom. And the staff is so little there's not enough of them. and so is the school playground. The school playground is in a parking lot and we have to play carefully and stop playing just because of the cars. And there's only a tiny playground that's a house playground that doesn't even have a swing and only first and second graders can use it!. Fifth of all, is teaching. the teachers DO NOT EVEN TEACH they just test us all the time and rely on textbooks and the teachers call their family members and even put their country song to not let us focus. And finally Sixth of all is dismissal. they don't have busses because it's a broke school and they dismiss Students with a website that is always rigged when i see my car they don't call it and i have to wait 7-10 minutes. and when students are called their names are still on the screen. I am so so so upset and disappointed for what this school has done! the whole school is lying about their best private school, trust me! And don't attend this school or believe in the 5 star reviews. I had experience and i hate this school! take your kids out of this school if you want them to graduate! If you don't know what school to go to then go to bull run elementary school. who would make such a school like this!

We wanted to find a way to support her, so we started looking for a math tutor and found the Mathnasium. Mike and Beth Baron, the owners, truly care and are dedicated to helping kids develop confidence with math. They arranged for a free assessment of our daughter's math skills at a convenient time. They discussed the results with us in detail and described the plan for her improvement. We have been taking her twice a week for an hour each time since October. She loves learning about math now and it has become one of her favorite subjects. She is more confident in her skills and if she has questions about her homework or test results she can bring them to the Mathnasium to get them answered. It has been a wonderful experience! Of course, the reward beyond our daughter's confidence are the A's she is getting in Algebra. The Mathnasium has given her the foundation she can build on through high school and college. We are very pleased with the results! Thanks Mike and Beth!

Our son did his part, doing practice exams and going over them when they met. Art is able to explain the material as well as how test questions are designed in ways that our son understood and was able to apply.
