This was my second time coming and both times it was freezing cold. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Q did my nails and did a great job, however she had a kept blowing her nose. She didn't wash her hands or use hand sanitizer after blowing her nose. Q also had to answer all of the calls and make appointments during my manicure. The first time I went Jade did an excellent job. It took 1 + hr for a fill with no designs. My nails lasted a mth. 2nd time was mediocre. The tech was watching something on her phone. I'm guessing a movie since she watched it for almost an hr. My nails were not straight and my polish looked like my daughter did it. But you can't watch a movie and do your job, plus it's rude. I've never had my nails drilled 5 times for a simple fill. She missed a nail. But again can't watch a movie and do nails. Price was good. read more

I used to come here when I moved to Holladay and I liked to see Lala but other than that it was meh and I felt like sometimes they could be rude. I stopped going for a while but tried them again before my trip to Fl but NEVER AGAIN They don't stand behind their work. The next day my polish looked layered and CRACKED, Not chipped and they started to get dark spots on them. I called to see if they'd at least look and she said they wouldn't because it was regular polish and they can't guarantee they won't chip after you leave. Again, not chipped, changed color and could see separation between two coats. I paid $70 with tip, and you can't even look at them. Peace out... good luck with building clientele. * Follow up to the comment, it wasn't two weeks later, I called when I got back from Fl which was 3 days later, and I could have come in when I called but that wasn't even an option. read more

What a great salon!! I went here on Sunday (unlike many other salons they are actually open on Sundays) after having called two other salons who said they were too busy to take me in but when I called Kumi's, they were able to take me in within 30 min! The salon is very classy and neat and the staff there are very friendly. The manager of the salon, Kelvin, was walking around and checking in on the guests as they were getting their manicures and pedicures done and he stopped to talk to me for a while too, which I appreciated! Andy did my nails (no-chip removal with an acrylic full set with dip) and he was very nice and attentive to my nails, making sure they were perfect. They have a great selection of dip colors and I barely had to wait at all to be seated. Overall I paid $58 for everything and I will definitely be going here again. Thanks guys! read more

Awesome, friendly staff AND they're open on Sundays! Called ahead and made a last minute appt. They were full but still accommodated. When I arrived the atmosphere was calming and I actually felt welcomed. Ty did an amazing job on my nails! He is so awesome! absolutely hated it. I didn't get any gel or any of color I just got straight acrylic when I called ahead and ask they said that the service would be $30 when I went to check out it was 50. First of all she was a very rough with my hands and when I tried explaining how I didn't like somethings she would just say I'm not done yet. The nails are extremely thick and heavy they're also off-center and lopsided. They have bubbles in them and there's acrylic under the nail in. my middle finger on my left hand is very rounded and I wanted almond shaped but I told her how I felt she just said she wasn't finished. I was really excited to try and nail place because one of my friends recommended it to me but I am very sad about the quality of the service. read more

My fiancé and I went in today - acrylic fill for me + pedicure for him. While I loved my fill and have not stopped looking at my nails all day (Ty did an incredible job being so detail oriented and making sure every nail was perfect - see picture) my fiancé did not love his experience. His toe nails were cut so short (see pictures - his nails were very long before this) that one of his toe nails has been bleeding since we went in this morning. The salon was very clean, but the pedicure (he got the "pearl") was not great and, in his words, "destroyed" his feet. UPDATE: after response from owner (picture posted below) - this response seems to be a, in my opinion, very poor way to handle a customer service complaint. From the owner. No file was used - his toe nails were cut this short. No one asked him if the length they were cutting it was okay/if they should continue. He has not received very many pedicures, and was unsure of what pain level was "normal" or enough to ask her to stop. AND with no "check in" from staff to make sure that he was pleased/okay about his treatment. The owner lied in their response to my first post. Poor customer service. Poor ethics. Poor liability. I made an appointment for 5 of us. They confirmed that they could do that. I explained that it would be me and 4 of my grand-daughters. We got there and they got us right in - BUT they only had enough people to do 4 of us - which made my youngest grand-daughter (6 years old) have to wait atleast 35 minutes. The rest of us were all done by that time. Also - none of the technicians even tried to be nice or make conversation or interact. They acted as if they DID NOT WANT TO BE THERE! I went here because I had seen good reviews and I needed to get a good manicure and pedicure for my bridal photos. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my service. I usually never write poor reviews but I just don't want anyone to have the experience I had. I do want to say that the lady who did my pedicure did a really nice job and took her time but the lady who did my manicure rushed it quite a bit and didn't do a very good job. It always takes a bit to find your nail salon that will be your go to place and I'm so glad I finally found Kumi's! Ok first of all- the pedicure chairs. I've never sat in a more comfortable chair that massages your whole body! Your arms, hands, things, butt- it's amazing! I want to see if I can just come in to use the massage chairs The spa pedicures are wonderful - even the cheapest one comes with a nice stone massage. All the nail techs are great- you won't get a bad one. The salon is always decorated according to the season which is really fun. The owner is very friendly, always says hello, and is very accommodating. The salon has like a million colors too- gel, powder and regular polish. My gel manicure always stays on for almost a full three weeks (usually it chips off by two weeks). I'd tell anyone to go here but especially for the pedicures!!! read more

Came here for dip nails and shape. I definitely recommend calling or asking on yelp for an appointment, as this place does get busy, and it gets busy with good reason. They have a great selection of dip colors! I stick to dip so I can't speak to other options. Service: Everyone was very friendly. The minute you go through the doors, you are welcomed and attended to. I've had issues in the past where I've stood at the front desk for almost 20 minutes with no one even acknowledging me. Everyone here is very nice, but everything else is seriously lacking. 1. You can't pick your own nail polish bottle- they have books with painted fake nails inside and you tell them the corresponding number and they bring the bottle to you. The problem is, what they bring you and what ends up on your nails doesn't match what's in the book. At all. I tried two colors and neither matched. 2. This place is dirty. Dust and dirt and hair everywhere. The tools do not look sanitized. I was there for an hour and saw at least 2 employees sitting on their phones the whole hour. This time could easily be spent vacuuming, wiping things down, etc. 3. They don't have good quality polishes like essie and OPI. My nails smudged within hours of leaving, even though they were fully dried just because it was poor quality polish, it didn't feel hard like good quality polishes feel after drying. read more

My daughter had her acrylic nails removed and they left her nails soaking in acetone for 30 minutes, while attending a gentleman's pedicure that came in after her, her skin started to peel off. The lady that attended to my manicure and pedicure painted my cuticles, they had to take a tool to my cuticles 3 times to fix it. Then proceeded to burn my leg getting the sugar scrub off, during my pedicure. So painful. The staff tries hard but for over 100.00 worth of products you want at least good talent. Dare I say this was the best pedi appointment I've ever had?! I felt welcome and pampered! Everyone was SO nice! Their massage chairs are the best! One of the arms will slide so you can get in and out of the chair easily and the massage options are vast and all of the options worked. I love this nail salon! So friendly, great services too. Best pedicure I've ever had in my life. Great prices too. Temperatures checked and required hand sanitizing before entering. Clean, spacious, and they have a plexiglass screen they hang between customers if they are busy enough that the chairs are filled. I feel safe and comfortable everytime I come here. Oh! This was the worst experience I have had a nail salon in a long time. First the person who answers the phone was super crabby. Still booked two appointments for a friend and I. 2 gel pedicures, they charged my friend $5 extra to take off gel that was just barely left on her two big toes, flooded my cuticles with polish so it is likely to peel quickly. Watching my friend get hers done, messed up on the polish and simply just sanded off a small part and then painted over it, leaving it lumpy. The massage was significantly less than the 6 minutes the "menu" says. They charge $10 extra for gel for any service, way more than the salon I usually go to. Then for my dip with a tip, I decided to speak up and have them fix things as we went along, I still left with bubbles in two nails, one nail not fully painted and none of them shaped evenly. I tried to kill the grumpy girl with kindness, asking questions, making small talked and received "hmmm" and I know she heard me, I believe she is the owner. The two who worked on my nails were very sweet but the job was so poorly done. Will never be going back there. Twin Nails just up the road is much better, friendlier, higher quality of polishes, wonderful massages and I leave satisfied for the same price. Wish I never would have tried a new spot. read more

Ty was very rough with my nails. He kept acting like he was super pissed off the whole time too, like he hated his job and me. Made me really uncomfortable. And my gel started peeling off 2 days later and I've never had that happen at any other place. The pedicure was terrible . Almost zero massage. Never going back. I had an absolutely horrible experience at Kumi nail lounge. I have lived in Holladay for 30 years. I went to Kumi because I was given a gift certificate. They were rude, unprofessional, cold, and did not deliver what I asked for. I even showed a picture of a subtle, light pink on both my phone and a printed version. They also charge $5 for callous removal on a pedicure, $5 for every 2 minute extra massage. They eavesdrop on conversations, and then discuss their clients in their native languages. I don't typically leave reviews but I get that this one was important. I came here to take my mother in law for her birthday. I was nervous because neither of us have been here before. When we got there with our scheduled appointment, everything was on time and the receptions was amazing! My mother in law got a pedicure and manicure and I got a pedicure (but they ended up letting me squeeze in a manicure as well which was awesome). The woman who did my toes was great! My only complaint, is that out of all the places I've ever been to it was the shortest massage, and she only did about a minute or two on one leg and three + minutes on my other leg. There was the same inconsistency with my manicure massage as well. The manicure wasn't the greatest. I ended up needing to file my nails when I got home because he delft them sharp and in weird shapes. He also failed to put enough nail polish on leaving some of my nails kind of see through. The women who did my mother in laws nails, was on FaceTime the whole time. Which I don't typically mind, however, we couldn't understand if she was talking to us or her phone. At times, when my mother in law wanted to let her know something she wouldn't listen/couldn't hear. Overall, I'm not sure I would come again. I wish it was more consistent and professional. I read the reviews about this place and saw a few about the gentlemen who did my names. And of course with me luck, I got him. All the reviews about him have been true based on my experience. UPDATED: Filing the nails was only done because the nails weren't shaped the greatest and they were very sharp. I only filed just enough to get the sharp parts off. The tips looking the way they do has nothing to do with the filing. He didn't put the layers on well enough on the tips and even the corners of my nails (look at the photos). The massage was inconsistent. It wasn't the whole time together that bothered me. It was that I got a longer amount of time on one leg/arm than the other so much so it was noticeable by both my mother in law and I. Like I said, I'm not upset completely because my toes are amazing!
