It is a wonderful little bakery, focused on the flat breads of Afghanistan and Iran imho. What is…read moreinteresting about these is how high the hydration is, how wet the dough is when it goes into the oven. Resulting in the soft, pliable, yet chewy texture. In some parts of the world, one sees the wet dough laid out on top of small stones, resulting in indentations that are specific to that bread. I once heard that Iranian soldiers, as part of their ration, one member would carry a box of stones, for baking bread in the field. When I worked as an engineer, several of my Iranian co-workers picked up clean, perfect stones at an aquarium supply, for use in baking the breads at home. I've also attached photos of stocked shelves. You should definitely pick up some yogurt here, either plain, or, with the wild garlic. And there is a freezer with house made ice cream to buy. The pack of two breads is currently 6 dollars (August, 2025)

I needed both Date and Pomegranate syrups for jams I'll be making this week. When I first walked in, I was taking pictures and I think the woman working there was a little worried. I wanted to make sure to get pics for this review, so that you can see that this bakery is small but mighty. For the Raw honey and Syrups alone, stopping here is worth it. Their date syrup is perfect for the home made breads I make, in addition to my home made preserves. It adds a touch of classy sweetness without breaking the bank. In addition, date sugar/syrup is an excellent way to get that sweet that my diabetic dad loves, date sugar is processed better in the human body. Sadly, they were already out of all of their baked breads. I was looking for those and the Baklava, which was also out. That being said, they were just as friendly as previous, in a shy way. They added some home canned goods, of veggies that were part of a fermented/pickled fresh items. I plan on trying them out in the near future.

I always ask for recommendations and they always has something delicious and fresh to serve for the day. I've tried many things so putting a combined review of several visits. Bear with me. 1) Maklooba, This is a juicy savory combination of tender meat, eggplant. The eggplant in at the bottom and dish is flipped upside down. It's served occasionally as part of their buffet in morning. 2) Shawarma They put on the beef and chicken shawarma on the burners around 11:30 am. So the best time to get shawarma would probably be the around 12 pm - 3pm ish. The beef shawarma bits have a crispy texture and the herbs pop up the freshness. The tahini is moderate and not owerpowering. The best part is the bread (khubz), which is paper thin delicate. In the pics you will also see chicken and beef shawarma platter with fries, hummus, baba ghanouj, salad and dips(spicy, tahini and garlic butter). Cant go wrong with that combo for 2. 3) Qalayet/ Ghalayet This is minced meat with a rich tomato sauce. Typically eaten as breakfast. Btw they have complimentary tea bags and you will see the raspberry & pomegranate tea I had. 4) Mixed grill it's got a turkish style eggplant, hummus, rice, grilled onion, tomato, Beef kebab, beef tenderloin fillet, chicken shish tawook, salad with pickled onions and garlic dip for the chicken. All for $19 and change. The chicken shish tawook is soft, juicy and would cut with a butter knife. The resident chef is easy of the parsley in beef kebab and it is pleasantly spiced. The tenderloin does had a chew which is exactly how I like it. Not hard as a rock nor soft as paneer/tofu. If you got dentures you may want to skip this. 5) Kulfi (Dessert) They also had some Shahi kulfi, which hails from the indian subcontinent. My favorite flavors is pistachio out of the many flavors stashed in the mini fridge. Seating & Parking The entrance area can get warm, so pick the seating on the side. Plenty parking space front and behind. They are planning this to shape up like the Atlanta location. Nothing beats a weekend brunch, smelling the fresh baked goods, getting greeted as 'habibi' and this shawarma. Trust me on this. Highly recommend this place.

Good Cakes + Shit Customer Service = 1 Star…read more This bakery is no longer on Senate Ave. It has moved to the owners home. I had been using this bakery for probably a little over a year for both business and personal. The cakes are good but the owner is sorely lacking in the way of customer service. I ordered a particular cake for my birthday. I changed to a simpler, less expensive design about a week before the big day. She issued me a store credit for the difference. Upon picking the cake up, it was not the cake I had designed. I'm not sure how she managed to screw that up. She had a description and a drawing that she herself wrote/drew out as we discussed it. She credited $25 to my card. Hardly a fair compensation for the disappointment. Though this is the second time she has screwed up an order for me, I wasn't yet ready to give up. I then placed an order for my son's cake but could only pick it up on a Sunday morning. She refused to allow it. She specially told me that she was not be available after 8am on that Sunday which led me to believe if it were any other Sunday, she'd be open to it. I told her I would gladly pick it up well before 8am. She refused. I do understand that she has business hours that do not include a Sunday but considering the fact that she so irresponsibly messed up my birthday cake, I would have expected her to accommodate me in this small way. When I requested reimbursement for the store credit, she again refused. Why she would insist on forcing a dissatisfied customer to continue to do business with her is beyond me but so be it. I strongly advise anyone thinking of doing business here to consider another bakery or at least have a backup. As I said, she has screwed up two orders for me and in my opinion, did not do enough to make it right.
