Guidry's is truly a staple in our house! Lately, we've been coming here about once a week,…read moreespecially during crawfish season. We make sure to get our crawfish intake in while we can. The 1x spicy level is our go-to! I love a bit of spice, but this has an amazing flavor that other crawfish just don't have. It's the perfect balance of heat and flavor. Everything on the menu is great, but we especially love the jalapeño crab poppers and, of course, the boudin balls; they are so good every single time. With all the well-deserved hype Guidry's has been getting lately (yes, you might have to wait, but it's absolutely worth it, we just happen to live close!), we've been ordering to-go more often, and even then, the service is still beyond amazing! The waitstaff is always so friendly and welcoming, and the Cajun atmosphere really makes the whole experience. It's one of those places you just keep coming back to. Hands down, this is our favorite Cajun restaurant in the Surrounding Houston Area. Geaux Tigers!

We came in on a Friday around lunch time and it was seemed like a common spot to go to by the locals. The staff is genuinely kind, seated us easily, and quick to service us. We had gotten the pork rind appetizer with the crawfish cheese sauce- I'd say it was a nice starter and the rinds were freshly made and still crackling as we were eating them! Sadly, the crawfish tasted like it's been sitting out and the blue crab was dry unless you dowsed the butter all over it. So it was either too salty or not enough seasoning.

I'd heard such good things about this place from locals, particularly someone at a church nearby…read morewhere we were visiting, so we were excited to swing by and check out one of the supposed best places in La Porte. Unfortunately, our experience was a complete miss. Parking here is awkward. There's not a proper lot, more of a driveway with grass nearby and people seem to haphazardly park with the idea that they'll be getting out in an exact order where they can just drive forward, over a curb, and exit. For those of us in smaller cars, that isn't really an option. The interior is well decorated to give an upscale feel. On a Saturday evening, they had a singer in a sequin dress and a beautiful voice that made it sound like you were listening to the kind of songs you'd hear on Sunny 99.1 or on Delilah's request show, but live. Right off the bat, we had issues with the drink orders. Items were missing, they were serving tea to people who ordered soda, sweet tea to people who ordered unsweet, etc. The worst was a drink from the bar that came out incorrectly THREE times. After the third time, the waiter offered to comp her something else. My friend took the waiter's offer and ordered a soft drink, but the bartender brought out the drink a fourth time anyway. When she got the bill, the soft drink was charged and the fourth take on the alcoholic beverage, which she never drank, was "comped" after she'd already told them she didn't want it anymore. The waiter dared defend what happened, which I felt was in poor taste since HE was the one who offered to get her something else at no charge. The entrees took forever to come out. We don't know what happened, but we were waiting almost an hour for the food. I was ready to get the hell out of there, and had it just been my wife and me, we probably would have. Unfortunately, we were in a bigger group and we all had long drives home, so we didn't want to be rude. The food was completely forgettable. I don't know of anyone who had anything good to say about what they got. My pork belly was decently seasoned and cooked through, but not quite well enough cooked to give the kind of sizzle and texture that made it worthwhile. The portions were also so small that I wasn't satisfied. My wife ordered the fish and chips. Instead of a whitefish or catfish, they served her fried salmon. The flavor and texture was... subpar... at best, and hardly the kind of thing you'd expect when ordering Fish & Chips in the south. Rather than wait another 30 minutes for a replacement entree, and probably get it wrong given how they were handling the drink orders, she powered it down and we mutually decided that we'd never bother to stop by this place ever again.

A small one crawling on the wall near our table and someone from my party saw a larger one crawling near the kitchen. And boy was it stuffy in there. I asked our waitress if she could move a floor fan near for some relief and to detour the gnats, she said she go ask but she never came back and when she did she completely forgot my request. We weren't seated in the greater eating area where it was cooler and maybe where the gnats were less of a bother. The food was delicious and homemade, you can tell it was made with high quality ingredients and that Southern skill that you can only get from helping Grandma in the kitchen. BUT the roaches made us lose our appetite. Such a shame. It seemed like the building went down. They don't seem to put as much effort into the condition of that place as they do the food. Dusty ceiling fans and crummy floors. I appreciate the homey vibe but it looked really junky, more stuff piled in unoccupied corners as before. I gave a lot of things the side eye, I mean it there has to be maintained asthetic. They charged an 18% gratuity on my tab for a party of 8 but I arrived with 4 people, the other 4 had already been there, paid and was almost done with their meal. Then of course the cashier/waitress still mentioned an additional, optional tip. I didn't think that was fair. At the end of it all she wasn't the best waitress.

Now I'll be adding this great location to my favorites list. It's super clean and festive with Mardi Gras decor. Plenty of tv screens to watch any sports teams playing. He kept the refills flowing and had what we needed before being asked....amazing service. I had the catfish basket that came with french fries, hush puppies, and a drink for 12.99. PLEASE try the berry lemonade it was delicious! The catfish portion was very small. It was half a fillet cut into 3 strips and had a gritty dirty taste. It was not good at all. The fries and hush puppies were fried to perfection. The catfish basket comes with a choice of salad or gumbo....so gumbo it was. It's definitely not my grandma's gumbo. It was more like a okra, tomato, sausage, chicken jambalaya. Nothing I'd ever consider ever again. But it was edible after dressing it with hot sauce and crackers. Also got the crawfish po-boy which was a hit! It was spilling over with fried crawfish packed to the gills. Got it with LTOP with a side of corn on the cob and hush puppies. It was so delicious and filling. This was so good I'll definitely get it again. Overall great service, awesome bartender, and happy hour....but I'd never get the catfish again...you live and learn
