What a cute shop, bookstore, and event space located in Bixby Knolls. Much of the merchandise reflects Filipino culture, including stickers, T-shirts, tote bags, candles, and many other unique items. Prices are great and pretty unique. At the front of the store, you will find Bel Canto Books, which offers a wide selection of titles ranging from fiction and romance to cookbooks and more. Several items caught my eye, so I'll definitely be back to make a purchase. If you love books, check their calendar for the next book signing. In addition to being a bookstore and retail shop, the space also serves as an event venue. Be sure to check their website for upcoming events. If you're looking for a unique spot to host a holiday party, this would be a great option. The store also features art pieces from local artists, making them perfect, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. Overall, this is a fun and welcoming store filled with hidden gems. If you are in the area, whether grabbing a bite or just exploring, I highly recommend stopping by. The staff is friendly and very invitingwhich makes the experience so much better.

Amazing collective shop and event space located on the corner. Plenty of street parking with 2hr limit. The owners are wonderful. Plenty of Filipino and Asian items, candles, decor, dolls, hats, tees, other clothing, snacks, as well as a lot of books. A great collection of authors, artists, and shops featured here. My friend held a pop-up stationery event here and it was such a perfect space with plenty of room. The shop was open as well and I purchased a couple hats. Happy to see a collective and event space like this exists!

Amazing selection of books, gifts, and clothing at very reasonable prices especially for a co-op type of business! Great space for community events and book clubs. Friendly staff and people all around! Located on the corner and near many places to eat and drink! Adequate street parking. I can stay in here forever!!!

Nestled in the heart of Long Beach, Kubo-LB is a haven for bookworms, plant enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a unique and vibrant escape. Owned by a BIPOC entrepreneur, this place celebrates diverse voices and fosters a sense of community, making it a place I always look forward to visiting. Upon entering, you're greeted by a lush profusion of plants, creating a calming and visually stunning atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned plant collector or simply appreciate greenery, Kubo-LB offers a feast for the eyes. Bookshelves line the walls, showcasing a curated selection of books by BIPOC authors, alongside classics and hidden gems. It's a haven for bibliophiles, offering a chance to explore new reads or revisit old favorites in a cozy and inviting space. Kubo-LB regularly hosts events like book readings, author talks, and open mic nights, fostering a sense of community and supporting local creatives. And that's what exactly led me here when I attended the Merkado which is held every third Saturday of each month. Y'all need to check it out!

Kubo LB is for the community! This Filipino owned space is a one stop shop for snacks, plants, jewelry, home decor, books, art, and more! Wifey and I stopped by to check out the Saturday Morning Silog art pop up that they were displaying in their space. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. We appreciate Kubo's mission to uplift and spotlight the Filipino community and the many local Filipino businesses that deserve their flowers. Come by to support and you won't leave empty handed!

New location. Awesome space with awesome merchandise, such asbooks with bel canto, candles, mugs, planta, and other Philippines merchs. Book genre are from filipino to scifi to History to cook books and many more. Merchandise are from other business. Worth checking out if you're in the area. Parking can be difficult during weekend.

Love that their sign spells out their name in ASL also!

I wandered into KUBO LB during a Bixby Knolls event and was immediately charmed by the huge wall of books. Bel Canto is a great bookstore, with thoughtfully curated titles. Lots of great choices for both adults and kids which you wouldn't see highlighted at a big box store. KUBO is home to a number of small Filipinx owned businesses, providing a variety of products and services. The day I visited they were gearing up for a sound bath event that evening. A sign in the back promoted an upcoming microMuseum on the Filipinx diaspora. I am looking forward to going back to see that. They also offer co-working spaces on daily or longer term basis. The work spaces looked really nice. It's a nice large, bright space, which can be rented for private events. Because all of their furniture is on wheels, it can be moved around to clear and arrange the space however you need it! KUBO seems like a great addition to the neighborhood.

Many of our favorite vendors told us they were hosting an event. We heard about this spot and their soft opening so we decided to check it out. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking and limited plaza parking Feels: Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach is pretty, nice and orderly. The spot itself is close to a neighborly area and not too far away from Downtown Bixby Knolls. The space itself was formerly run by a church. You have your small passage rooms, a nice venue for larger groups and a big backyard for plants or performances. The vendors made the place come alive and felt pretty comforting. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Meeting some of the vendors was great! Romeo's Chocolate, Flipp Family, Kubo CA, and Pamana Kali were passionate and kind. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars! Love, love, love! All your Filipino interests and more all in one spot. Food, plants, recreation for young kids, small home/plant decor, space for movement, and more! This place has a lot of potential. Wishing the owners and vendors the best as they represent their goods to Long Beach. Till next time! #BayanhihanSpirit TIPS: * Check out their social media handles for updates on their events! * When punching the address, make sure the city is Long Beach and not Carson.

This is a GEM of a bookstore! They elevate the voices of diverse authors and showcase a rich collection of multicultural books. Absolutely love the beautiful artwork and interior design. We had the honor of attending the book signing for Dr. Alice Lee, author of A Family Like Ours. It was an unforgettable experience to hear the author's story. Highly recommend both the book and this adorable bookstore! Please support your local bookstore!

This bookstore is really cute! They have a little of everything, and I couldn't help myself. We came here for a book launch and signing of a really nice children's book. It's such a great space, well thought of, and really inviting. Will definitely come back!

There aren't many places like this in the area, so it's a fun and creative spot to check out. I found them on Instagram and decided to go with some friends. I've been to two craft studios that are similar, so my review is based on experiences from other places. The booking process was super easy--you reserve online with a $10 nonrefundable deposit, which goes toward the final cost of your craft. When we went at 3 PM on a Friday, we were the only group there, so we had the whole space to ourselves. Free street parking was available right in front of the store, which was a plus! Just a heads-up, it's located in an older part of Long Beach, so keep that in mind. The studio itself is absolutely adorable - very girly and charming. It's a smaller space but seems like it could accommodate a few larger groups at a time, so if you're planning to go with a big party, I'd recommend inquiring ahead of time. One thing I really appreciated is that there's no per-person studio fee. The craft prices ranged from around $15-$45, which is similar to other craft studios I've been to. You can decorate a variety of items like jewelry boxes, mirrors, photo frames, claw clips, phone cases, and glass cups. There was a nice selection of beads, charms, glitter, and other craft supplies. Their website and Instagram list monthly specials, and this month's Hello Kitty and Sonny Angel-inspired phone buddies were adorable. The owner was incredibly sweet, and you can tell she puts a lot of love into her business. She originally started Dainty Disco as a gift shop, so there's still a small retail section with cute merchandise available for purchase. A couple of minor things could be improved. The lighting inside the studio wasn't the best--it was a cloudy day, which didn't help, but some additional overhead lighting would have been useful for crafting. Also, a few craft options were sold out; for example, they were out of the larger heart jewelry boxes and only had one smaller one left. I think a section on the website that lists the options for crafts with pictures would have been helpful in guiding customers ahead of time for their choices. Overall, we had a great time, and it was nice to support a small business! They also host monthly craft meet-ups, which I'd love to check out in the future. If you're looking for a fun and creative activity in Long Beach, I definitely recommend giving Dainty Disco a visit and I'm down to come back!

The reason why - and I have to point this out because the store is named Rooted - is most of the neon pothos did not look too healthy aside from one plant in a 6" pot (larger than what I was looking for). In fact, many of the plants were rather middling, with soil looking dry when most inventory are tropical houseplants. Was it the heat at the time I visited or negligence? I'm not sure, but even with seemingly fair prices as plant shops go (4" philodendron Brazil was $12), it's harder to buy a plant that looks sickly. In addition to plants, Rooted also carries housewares and refills for shampoo, body wash, etc. I can't speak to the prices because I have a similar store within walking distance that I typically bring my dispensers to.

I love the flower pots that they carry, very cute, classic, contemporary. But finding a lively plant was not easy. Most looked like they were in need of a lot of TLC. I took home w me the only green plant I thought I could save. The total for a small pot and a small plant was $40+. I really was hoping that at my next trip, I'd be able to find a better selection. I returned a month later for another plant + pot set. No luck finding a good plant. Again, all looked like they were drying out. I left with nothing, but after having found a good plant at a different place, I returned here for a cute pot for my new plant. There are definitely other things to shop around for. I would return again for more pots, and to check out their soap/shampoo/detergents. I love the idea of bringing in your own bottles and filling up to avoid waste. The reason I am giving a 3 star and not 4, apart from the bad selection of plants, is that the service was not great. The very first time I was there, I was barely acknowledged by the girl at the counter. The second time, it was a bit better but definitely nothing to rave about. The girls on my first and second trip were glued to their phones at the counter. When I returned for the third time, the guy working was a lot more welcoming. This is a neighborhood place and I really want to love it. I hope the service improves and that the plant selection gets better as well.
