It literally looks like they tried to put it together while in the box and just squished it all down in there.

I went to #krystals in StrawPlains,TN today to get the kids something to eat bc I have to go to 'meet the teacher night` at 4pm for multiple kids at multiple schools, no time to cook. So they throw/ squish the ingredients in the boxes for me so I can put them together myself. My son seen it so I drove back to see if they'd remake the ones that were destroyed and all I got was a manager who had ZERO experience in #customerservice. He was extremely rude, an employee laughing about it. I have to deal with bs trying to put these damn krystals back together so they'll be edible! I'm right now. I showed him one that had the whole piece of cheese melted to the bottom of the box (not even on the meat at all) and his reply was 'ma'am the cheese melts.' In a condescending way. Nothing was fixed, there was not one second of anyone trying to make it right. Just a manager (if that's what he was) with a very nasty, rude, condescending attitude. Never going back there . They don't care about the customers at all. I was so embarrassed and upset. I understand it's just burgers but it just nullified the whole point of me getting fast food. Now I have to put them all together (what I can scrape of the box anyway) just so the kids can eat them and I'm going to be late for school meetings bc of it!

It's the White Castle of the South. And it's about one step down from White Castle. But hey, I love sliders so I just can't resist - and those mini burgs will always keep it a-ok in my book. This location opens at 6:00am. And hooray for them serving mini burgers at all hours! Road trips tend to leave me starving until like 11:00am as I'm not a fan at all of fast food breakfast. So I always give big props to anywhere I can get lunch food at breakfast time. The mini cheeseburgers are alright. I think White Castle is better. They're filling and not un-tasty. The other big thing Krystal is known for is wings. And how can I pass up trying wings? The quality of the wings was way below average. But I suppose that's to be expected. They're dry-rubbed, not sauced and there are multiple options. The hot was actually pretty decent - a nice flavoring. And they aren't stingy on the dry-rubbing, which is nice. The dipping sauce was bleh. I literally couldn't even tell if it was ranch or blue cheese. We also got an order of the chili cheese fries. Nothing special, but we ate them all. Decent crispiness to the fries, which held up even with the chili and cheese. The staff was, well, below fast food average. There were three people working, but two were taking a break "since it isn't busy right now" (direct overheard quote). Which left one staffer to take orders, deliver orders (they give you a number and bring it to your table when you dine-in), clean tables, etc. Which meant despite it being almost empty (there wasn't anyone else ordering, but there were a few occupied tables), we had to wait to order. No huge biggie, but I definitely felt bad for the one person actually working. The downside - and not to get too political here - was brought to my attention after returning from a trip to the restroom and noticing pro-e-verify and pro-right-to-work posters on one of the windows. Big enough of a deal to me personally to have had me turn around and not enter had I seen them earlier.

service was okay, but the food was nasty. the meat doesn't look real.. and the buns were soggy. first time here and will never be back :/

The difference is night and day between Krystals and White Castle. This Krystals was run down and a bit dirty, but overall clean and kept. I mimmicked my White Castle order and although a smidge cheaper, you get what you pay for. Day old bread and onions that seemed unsteamed. Fries were not crinkle fries as with White Castle but tasted alright. Everything was second class in comparison and although the wolf in me took over and devoured the meal. Not the Krystals of yesterday and given a choice it os White Castle I will look for first. Service here is friendly yet I felt like I was being herded and rushed out.

My buddy opted for the Spicy Smash. The burgers were mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm great, Juicy and the bun held up. Fries were fresh and would like to see maybe a topping or poutine option for them. Cool spot to get some AC and great burger before a Smokies game or a night in the old City.

SmashCity wasn't far off of the interstate, it had good ratings and although we'd been eating burgers and fries quite a bit on this roadtrip, a good burger and fries really sounded good. All of the reviews were right on - this was absolutely NOT fast food - it was fast, really fast, but the speed was just bonus. As we usually do, we split. We chose the Carolina BBQ smash. The burgers were juicy - if you're not careful, I guarantee you'll be wearing it. Two critiques, it definitely needed more sauce - I just added some of the SmashCity sauce from our fries and it worked but I really would have liked to have had more BBQ sauce. Second, the fried onions were quite burned. I pulled off most of them. The hand cut fries were piping hot, just the right amount of greasy and seasoned perfectly. Splitting the burger was a good call - I'd never have eaten the whole thing myself. The burger and fries were just over $20. When you consider a Big Mac meal at that clown place is $14, SmashCity is almost a bargain. Paul, the owner was like the energizer bunny - he was everywhere at once. Personality oozed from his pores. Make sure you tell him Sue said hi! (He won't remember me but just say hi anyway!) Now I wouldn't say SmashCity has the best burgers - that award goes to our friend Jerry. He makes a pretty mean smash burger on the blackstone. If you have an extra half hour, skip the fast food burger joints, get off that highway, and go let Paul fill your belly for the rest of your trip! You'll appreciate it!

Came here on a Sunday, it had just snowed the night before so the restaurant wasn't super busy, but…read moreit still had a good crowd. We had heard of this place for a while and wanted to check it out and we're so glad we did. The food and service were amazing. Walking in it's a narrow restaurant, that has a bar on one side and tables on the other with kinda a rustic feel to it. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. Since we hadn't been there before we got water and then pursued the menu a little for drinks. I had a question between two drinks and the server was very good at describing the drinks and ultimately decided to try the Darryl Strawberry, while my husband got the Nor'easter. The drinks came out and they were really good. They weren't overly strong, you could taste the bourbon in each of them, but it wasn't overpowering. For food we got the OPA! to start and then the Billy for me and the Mother Clucker for him. The OPA was awesome. It's pan seared feta with honey and served with fresh bread. The honey added a little extra sweetness to the feta which went really nicely with the crusty bread. The Billy had goat cheese, bacon, onions and, a tomato jam on it. It was delicious. The creamy goat cheese with the bacon and smokey tomato jam all went amazingly together. I got onion rings as my side, which were crunchy hot and so so good. The Mother Clucker was also really good. I only had a bite of it to try, but was definitely impressed. My husband upgraded to the duck fat fries which were out of this world. Super crunchy, great flavor. Our server kept checking back on us the whole time making sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food, but we had absolutely no complaints. This is a great place for a date if you want good food or to hang out with friends. We will definitely be back.

Our pup travels everywhere with us, so finding these spots is important to us. It was very spacious too - so we weren't on top of other guests. For lunch, we got the deviled eggs to start - something that is a go-to for us. They were solid and enjoyable. For the main, we opted for the Abridged burger and the Chicken club. Both were solid as well. Fries were crispy, but a bit over-salted, and I enjoy some salt. So made a note for next time to "go light". Service was good too. Overall - really only a tiny detail to 'complain' about, but easily taken care of next time. We will be back for sure - I want to try their pizza!

Since I had the burger the day before I tried another option. So I ordered the Southern Clucker, a fried chicken sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and jalapeños. I wasn't as impressed with the chicken as I was with the other location's burger. The chicken was fairly tough and chewy and the piece was smaller than the bun it was sitting in, so it was literally tough to eat. The bun and vegetables were fresh though. I loved the onion rings. Best seasoning I've had on fries or onion rings in a long time, and the waitress brought some ranch which helped even more! We pulled into the parking lot, and I could hear my compadre, RIP, say to me, ' Si está ocupado, va a ser bueno." If its busy, its going to be good. The parking lot was full and the inside of the restaurant was busy. We walked in and our Mom who was a teenager during the 50's loved the decor and signage and my brother immediately gravitated towards the pinball machines. We sat down at a booth. The booths are a little tight if you're tall and have had a couple of cheeseburgers over the years. The good news is that the table is moveable Our server Finch was delightful. By the way, it was her Birthday on the day we were there and even though she was working on her Birthday, she was still having a lot of fun. The regular menu is HUGE. I'm not talking Cheesecake Factory HUGE, I'm talking about triple that...... There's about 50 different burgers and I'm probably missing some. There's burger with a fried bologna slice and american cheese There's a burger with Military Chow The menu is clear to understand but there's an overwhelming amount of choices. I didn't see the vegan menu in the regular menu so I politely asked Finch for the vegan menu, and she skipped back to me with it. Wow - A lot of choices as well. Hot Rod's uses Beyond Meat for some of their burgers but they also custom craft their veggie burgers. The vegan cheese on my burger was most likely Follow Your Heart or Violife, but it was properly melted. The Beyond Burger was a frozen slab without any seasoning but cooked through. I would have preferred some seasoning but hey - I'm not going to knock it. The portion of fries is massive. The vegan ranch is Follow Your Heart and was a nice dipping sauce for the fries. My brother had a buffalo chicken sandwich and my mom had the reuben. We all shared the vegan banana split. Hot Rod 50's Diner as stated by another Yelp reviewer may be the best diner in the United States.
