KFC chicken and food is nothing like it was 15-20 years ago. It had been about three years since my last horrible experience with KFC and thought enough time had gone by for them to improve the food quality. I ordered a Uber delivery of a 8 piece, extra crispy meal. The chicken crust was granular, like corn meal and gross (not a crunchy flour coating like it used to be). The chicken itself was saturated in oil and was real soft and dark ( like frozen too long and way past its expiration date). The biscuits had too much salt as did the tiny serving of mash potatoes. The tiny dish of corn and the Cole slaw were the only items I ate. I paid $45 for this crap and literally threw 90% of it in the woods behind my home. DO NOT AND NEVER WILL RECOMMEND. read more

When you walk into a KFC the aroma of southern fried chicken should fill the air and make your mouth water. Not here. The gases of someone's Montezuma's Revenge was thick in the air and it went downhill from there. The chicken was good and as greasy as i have ever had but it was warm unlike the mashed potatoes. The best part of the experience was the lukewarm biscuit which was still good and even with the grease dripping from my fingers I could still open the honey packets (A+ on the honey packets.) Tried to get a kids meal and upgrade to a Mt dew like I do at any other location in knoxville but when I asked I was rudely informed quickly "no you can't do that it was either a juice or a milk" to which I tried to reply nicely it was strange the others had a way to do that but just to add it on ig. Before I could tell him to add it on he interrupted and literally yelled at me "well we don't do that here!" So I told him to just forget it I was trying to tell him to just charge me for it before I was rudely interrupted and venom spat at me. Then he wanted to play nice as we drove off and say have a nice day and wave sarcastically. Like wtf is your problem. I came thru being nice and just asking for a drink. Just quit if you literally hate your life so much that the next customer who wants anything special will just push u over ur limit. My son and I stopped in at this KFC at around 7:15 PM. I know enough not to stop by a KFC later than two hours before closing because they often run out of chicken. Anyway, I ordered a three piece big box meal with a mix of original and extra crispy. The chicken was hot and tasty and up to KFC standards. My son ordered a spicy chicken sandwich combo and the sandwich and fries were delicious. A special shout out for our cashier Crystal. She was amazing! She knew the menu back and forth and possessed the rare quality that she really cared about the customer. She even gave me a senior discount! Who knew that KFC even offered senior discounts? So often fast food employees exhibit an attitude of indifference not caring if they got your order correct or even could care less if you ever return. Saw the buffet offered on the billboard on the highway, told the husbeast about it and he liked the idea. We'd gone from our hotel and through Gatlinburg without eating and were both approaching Hangry stage when we finally pulled off to eat. The store was clean and neat. There was one person behind the register taking orders and the line was three patrons deep. It wasn't quick, but the food was hot, plentiful and tasty. They gave us 2 plates to start with and it comes with a drink so you don't have to make a separate purchase. Fresh chicken, fresh potatoes and green beans were all put out in the time I was there. This KFC has a Buffet! I stop at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) from time to time for that "finger lickin' goodness." There are plenty of KFCs near my home in NH where I'll sometimes stop for lunch or to pick up a bucket of extra crispy chicken and sides for dinner. I am the Duke of the KFC near my workplace. However, after driving along I-40 in Knoxville, there was a hard to miss billboard along the interstate advertising All You Can Eat Buffet at the KFC Exit 398. On my recent trip, I also drove past several KFCs with buffets in VA, NC, and SC. I haven't been to a KFC Buffet since they offered it at KFC locations in Upstate NY in the 1990s, where I frequented the buffets at the former Guilderland and Poughkeepsie KFC locations in particular. This KFC location is conveniently located off I-40 Exit 398 (southside) next to the TDOT facility. This restaurant with drive-thru offers the standard KFC menu items, plus the AYCE Buffet (including drink) for $8.29 (adults), $7.29 (seniors) and $5.29 (kids), dine-in only, prices in 2013. The Colonel's Buffet is setup at the counter past the registers, which offers a decent selection of hot and cold items including fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, chicken pot pie, green beans, carrots, mac & cheese, biscuits, macaroni salad, potato salad, slaw, cottage cheese, canned fruit, garnishes, chocolate pudding, vanilla pudding, fruit cobbler (crisp), and more. You're given plastic plate(s) after you pay then help yourself. Ask for a clean plate on return trips to the buffet. The food was the standard tasty and filling KFC fare, nothing fancy. The buffet was stocked good around lunchtime. I wish the Buffet was brought back to more KFC locations in the northeast (there are a few in CT & ME), but I'd probably make it a habit to eat at KFC more than I should. had a rough day and just wanted to pick up something to eat around 930pm so i didn't have to cook....tried to order a 12 piece bucket they only had 6 pieces of chicken...3 breasts and 3 wings (2 bites to eat a wing).... ended up negotiating an order of the 6 pieces and 12 tenders with sides...got to window and they took my 50 bucks and told me to move forward and the food would be out in 5 min.....took 15-20 min. so i back up and ask if they forgot i was out there...kid said they were waiting on one tender to complete order....i told him to give me an extra side and i left...got home and half the chicken was dried out...so bad had to put catsup on the chicken...i called manager about 1030pm (they were closing) and complained and asked for half my money back. she said i had to return product and i live a half hour away. she then explained the chicken in the fryer was already sold so i got the left over older stuff.....i told her to have her DM call me and haven't heard from him yet...i called their 800 number and complained....$hit was so bad i wouldn't feed it to my dogs...come on people...its chicken...i know you got to be concerned about food costs near the end of day but chicken is NOT that expensive...i'd be ashamed to serve that crap and charge even a penny for it. i'm giving 1 star because there are no ZERO'S read more

Very disappointed in this KFC! We live just down the road and the last 4 times we have been there, they never have anything cooked at supper time! 6 to 7 pm is when most eat dinner and they never have anything ready or they are "out"! Tonight we went and made our order and upon pulling to the drive thru window asked the girl if we could change to a bigger order! More money for KFC, but the girl look at my husband like he was an idiot for asking! My husband asked if it would be a problem and she scornfully looked at him with a frown! We left the order and went to the KFC 5 miles down the road! This place will soon be closing! No one ever in the parking lot and then when you do order, rudeness! So driving to a job and wedding had been on the road for about six hours when the pangs of hunger hit. Not just some, oh I need get a bite, to the sounds of a bear inside me. If anyone else had been in my car, they would have thought the pangs of hunger we me in the last throws of something I care not to mention in a public forum. So I pulled off at the next exit, had lots of choices, at least that is what my various, to many to mention mapping programs, including Yelp told me. So with that many choices I figured the one I get to the quickest wins my money and stomach. Hope I get there before I pass out and cross the highway, and lose the benefits I now get as an Elite member of yelp, by crashing. YIkes, so I get off the exit and see buffet KFC. It was the closest as well. So there I went and had a really great meal of chicken, slaw, greens, green-beans, banana pudding. Plenty more choices but I got filled up, and happy, and was ready for a nap. But still had a several hours to drive. But if you ever get the chance to stop at this KFC in Tennessee, "rhyme intended" do it very clean, very friendly staff of mostly elderly ladies when I went through. Like a grandma. More Tea? Another Plate? Oh Don't you want some more desert?, Yep if I ever pass this way again, just may have to stop and say hi, and have some chicken. read more

Have had two recent bad experiences here... about two weeks ago, on a Sunday we stopped to take chicken home - was told all they had ready was extra crispy and it would be over an hour wait for original recipe? REALLY... you are a chicken place and it's Sunday and you don't have any original recipe chicken - couldn't even get any on the buffet line... Today my husband stopped to bring home a bucket of chicken with sides... original recipe, mashed potatoes/gravy, coleslaw, green beans and biscuits. When we opened it at home the counter person had put the gravy container in the bag upside down, the lid came off and there was gravy ALL over and none left in the container! There were two mashed potatoes, (one of the containers had a melted Styrofoam bottom), and there were no green beans... and the biscuits were hard and tasteless... not warm and flaky... We actually passed the exit, so my husband turned around just so he could have the (none around us) buffet. Sign on the door read Buffet Closed today due to roof leak right above the buffet. We were very disappointed, but went inside anyway rather than driving to another restaurant to park our huge motorhome. As my husband tried to place his order (5:30ish, dinner time!) an employee would yell from prep counter, "5 minutes on original!" No original chicken at dinner time, what should be the busiest time of their day?! At this time my husband is even more disappointed. He asks if they have his order in grilled chicken...from the prep table once again, "No. These pieces are dry." She throws 2 pieces into the trash. My husband settled for the only chicken of which employees THOUGHT they had available, extra crispy. We get our food, sit down to eat it. My husband bites into his chicken breast & it is so dry & old he can't eat it. By this time the original chicken has had enough time to cook, so they did give him the chicken he originally ordered. Throughout our ordeal, I overheard the cashier telling another customer they didn't have the chicken he was trying to order either. They offered him something else, but when the customer asked if it'd be more expensive, the cashier replied, "Yes, let me see how much of a difference." This was just ridiculous! I don't know what is going on with KFC these days because we've had a few events with them near us as well. One being that we tried to order a family dinner and they tell us they have NO CHICKEN. Really ignorant kids running the place, nothing was cooked at 6pm. Then got back to our room and the order was wrong. We were the only ones there! How can you mix up an order? Don't know what has happened to the good chicken that KFC was famous for. The breading has no flavor just salt. No pepper no seasoning. I guess that got too expensive for them. The pieces are getting smaller and smaller. The potatoes and biscuits dry, better biscuits from Pillsbury in a bag Southern Style are much better. Baked beans one of the best side dishes, gone too. The reason KFC was so famous was the original recipe was so good but that is gone now. Recent Mother's Day buffet experience was typical. Puny pieces of chicken, blah sides and on top of that the windows and doors in need of a good Windex session. Greasy hand prints everywhere, there were flies zooming about and quite honestly, I knew I would never spend my hard earned money there again.
