Now let me be clear: i have only eaten this food late at night after a heavy shift with the help of uber eats so my experience may be skewed to folks eating here on a Thursday afternoon. But this is the strangest experience for food. I order a "Take 5" and oreo shake - the shake doesn't takes like anything - all my burgers tasted like onions (no onions on em) - the cheese didnt melt - the fries tasted like every fry i've ever eaten Despite this, i am normally so exhausted it transcends into a legendary meal fit for a very broke king. Or i think it's broke, the "take 5" is $10 which i'd argue is alright for any combo of burger fry and hotdog and i've had worse shakes for $5. A few months ago, I had a disastrous experience here. A red headed woman who seemed to be "in charge" came out and ARGUED with me about what I'd ordered or not. Really hateful. Today, since we really have always liked Krystal and White Castle too, we decided to give it another go. It's now the only one in the area-don't know how it stays open, frankly. We walked in and waited at the counter for five minutes. Each of us needed to use the facilities so we took turns going. No one ever emerged from the kitchen to wait on us. I give it 3 stars because of the cleanliness of the store. The food was prepared perfectly. The cashier at the front was very friendly and very polite, but the store needed a lot of attention. The bathrooms were nasty the restaurant itself. The tables were dirty their was stuff all over the floors. The chairs were pushed out. Nobody had been cleaning the lobby or anything. I ordered the Bacon Burgers. There was way too much mustard on all 3. Had to open the burgers and wipe as much off as possible in order to eat them. Otherwise it would have been unbearable because the mustard was overwhelming. The hamburger meat has gotten ridiculously thin! Best thing about my order was the apple pie! read more

Avoid the Krystal in Johnson City. The ones in Knoxville, Chattanooga and elsewhere are great. Krystal Corp. needs to shut this one down or fire everyone and start over. I ordered 4 Krystals and a Coke today. The girl running the drive through told me it would be 7 minutes and to park and wait. I did. After no one showed up after 18 minutes, I had to go. So I went back through the drive through and asked for a refund. She was pissed but gave me my refund. As I was driving away, another male employee opened the window and yelled "f@ck you!" waited 20 minutes for my sack full fast food burger today. 1) i think they should tell you it will be a while - i really would have chosen not to wait (2 other cars had to pull to the sider too - guess Krystal didn't expect any customers at 1:30 pm on a sunny Saturday. 2) I thought she said my total with tip was.... Fast food joint, looks to compete with White Castle. Except Krystal is horrible. Horrid. Awful. I mean, take one bite and you can't take another. From anywhere. Your meal is ruined. They are so bad they even spoil whatever other place you were thinking of going. It's like having baby-food sliders with onions. Most places measure the weight of their meat by the quarter-pound. Here, it's by the quarter-ounce. Of processed, tasteless, mushy, awful, baby-food animal byproducts. We generally judge the place by how full the parking lot is. The more people, the better. Right? Most of the time. Sometimes lots of cars don't necessarily mean good food. But even out here, Krystal has plenty of parking spaces. Because even the locals are repulsed by this place. We thought we'd try something new. Next time, I check Yelp BEFORE going to a food joint rated 1.5 stars. read more

I hadn't had a Krystal burger in a while and had a craving for one so decided to go to the one over near the medical center across from Taco Bell...dang I wish I hadn't!! So after eating it Saturday night I got to spend my Sunday with watery diarrhea and multiple puking sessions. The food looked awful! It was soggy, and one of the "diced onions" on my burger was dark gray! Also ordered cheese fries and ask for them to melt the cheese, and I was told they didn't have a microwave but they would put it under the bread warmer, and it would take 5-10 minutes. So normally I wouldn't do this but after tonight I feel as if I NEED to. My wife and I went to get some food only to discover that there was a hair ran all through my burger. The woman working the window had an attitude right off the rip and tried to tell me that she just doesn't see how that could have happened. Just a little in-site, my hair is LONG BLACK AND CURLY, NOT STICK STRAIGHT AND BLOND, and it isn't my wife's hair as hers is short blonde and shaved!!! She told me to bring it back and she would have it replaced. When I got there for the second time she tried to only remake the one burger with the hair. She wasn't to happy to be told that they could remake ALL 10 of my burgers or they could give me my money back because all 10 were made together and I would never in my life take a chance of there being another that I might just so happen to miss. Also when I got to the window she repeated my order to me so she knew what I had gotten before it was remade, THEY MADE IT WRONG, 5 with cheese NO ONION, they definitely put onions on all of them.
