Kroger's standard of products and service has plummeted significantly. The indicator to stop shopping here (at Laburnum) is when the store became "One way in and one way out." They sold me spoiled seafood and don't honor the "If it's not fresh..." policy. The "customer service representatives" smell (Marijuana and musty) & the attitudes leave a lot to be desired. The store is dirty. Produce is pitiful. Corporate is no help. My money is better spent elsewhere. read more

Place an online order for pick up last night to pick up this morning at 8 AM. Arrived and got my items got home and noticed the green beans were moldy and had brown spots all over them. I came back and spoke with customer service. She told me to go ahead and pick out the green beans and I could swap them well I went over there and all the green beans were old, moldy and brown. So she was trying to refund and she couldn't figure out how to give me a refund. I ended up doing it myself online for the refund. The lady working at customer service was sick and she was coughing all over her hands and then handling my phone. I asked to speak to a store manager and they didn't seem concerned saying that another shipment was supposed to arrive today but they're still allowing people to purchase old and moldy Vegetables. I will drive all the way to New Kent from now on to get my groceries due to the poor service and poor quality of the produce department. They just don't seem to care here at all. read more

9:00am today at Kroger Laburnum. Store packed with employees. Go to check out 10:00am with heavy overflowing cart. ONE cashier. Named Chasity. Had no idea how Kroger app worked. Bagger wandered off somewhere. Had to bag myself and re-bag most of Chasity's. When I asked the 30-40 young, healthy employees standing around if one of them could help me to the car, they looked at me like I was howling at the moon. When I called for a manager, I DID sound like I was howling at the moon. Finally, Georgia shows up, loaded for bear, dressing me down. Then, (as G*d is my witness), left all those young, healthy employees standing around and went outside to get the elderly retired employee putting away carts to help me. I'm not angry at the kids standing around not helping me. I'm mad at Georgia. Kids only know what they're taught. read more

I have repeatedly had uncomfortable experiences with one of the self check out cashiers, Gloria. When she is working she begrudgingly "helps", and thoroughly enjoys opportunities to tell customers "no" and be unhelpful. I have tried to be friendly with her, but she obviously has something against customers of a certain background. She has made me feed so unwelcome on so many occasions. This is by far the worst Kroger that I have ever been to. Soon after I arrived a gentleman came out and completed a customer's delivery. He asked for my name and said he would be right out with my order. One lady parked next to me who was already there when I arrived walked in to ask questions. The only answer she was given was that they were backed up with many orders. I waited over an hour before going in to ask about my order. A young man did say that he would look into it. I waited about 10 more minutes before leaving. I noticed other going in to complain and leaving soon after. I went home and lodged a complaint with corporate. This morning I was charged for the order that I never received. When I called customer service to let them know that I never received the order they told me that it was received. After some deliberation the manager finally checked the order and agreed that the order was still there but that the system automatically charged the order as picked up. Never again. read more

I went here and I really like it, I bought a 12 pack of Kroger vanilla cream sodas and I got to the last two cans and they were sealed shut (no holes or anything) but completely empty I did get them on sale and it's not the stores fault that the manufacturer did that but still it's funny asf read more

I was in the Kroger store recently on Laburnum Avenue in Henrico Virginia and I went through the self checkout and I was scanning my items and did not realize that the Perdue Chicken Strips I scanned did not scan and I was trying to scan the other stuff and this employee approached me saying I didnt scan something. All of a sudden a camera on the screen takes my picture and he acted aas though I was stealing. It was an honest mistake but I will not be returning to this store due to how I was treated. I am an older woman and I work and I do not steal. So sad what the stores have come to with self checkouts. They are going to lose alot of customers for this kind of treatment on innocent people. read more

This is easily the worst Kroger that I've ever been to. The avocados are almost always rotten (or so ripe that you really have to eat them the same day...like within an hour). The store is always understaffed. Seriously, expect to wait for an unacceptable amount of time, whether you do traditional checkout, self checkout, need customer service, or the deli. There's going to be an unnecessary wait. Beyond that, the floors are dirty, the aisle are disheveled, and some of the pricing seems too high to be in a Kroger. For those who don't believe that demographic profiling exists, try visiting this Kroger and the Kroger in Carytown on the same day. This Kroger is dirty, understaffed and overpriced, simply because it's in the Eastend of Henrico county. Take pictures, write letters, and complain (without ceasing) to corporate. I've done the same thing for the joke of a Target in White Oak. It's disgraceful. read more

This Kroger just can't seem to get it together. The men's room looked like a gas station toilet. Paper towel and toilet paper roll dispensers were empty. The soap dispenser was empty and hanging open. The rolls were left on the sink causing customers to leave a mess. The floors filthy with trash full. Mind you this Kroger's bathroom is never as clean as it should be, but this time was the worst. I bought it to the attention of the manager. I have posted about this Kroger several times. Kroger looks at this store as being in a less desirable area unlike Carytown or the newer Midlothian mega-store, so they don't invest in updating this store. It's obvious that they could care less about the appearance or the service because they have yet to bring this store up to the standards of the others. The idea that you can build new stores and turn a blind eye to the existing store that even the floors look worn and dirty shows the lack of concern for the area. Shame on Kroger for showing your bias in such a blatant way. Thanks that there are other nearby choices to choose from. read more

I went in to get a fillet of salmon from the fresh seafood and walked into the line area waiting for at least five minutes while the guy behind the counter talked to the customer in front of me he finally leaves I walk up and wait for the employee to ask me what I needed after about a minute of silence I asked him If I could get a side of the salmon and he informed me that he wasn't open for business for another 10-15 minutes even though everything was already out. So I come back in 15 min and ask for the salmon to be skinned and he tells me just leave it on it comes off easier after cooking I let him know I was smoking it and needed it if he tells me it's not going to be hole then. Ok cut it into 2 pieces then so he weighed it hole then went back and brought me out a mangled couple pieces. Looks like I need to find a good seafood supply somewhere else read more

I don't want to be the boy who cried racist but it seems racism is alive and well here. I've been in several times when it's busy and have gone to the self checkout. Every time there is a line someone from customer service comes over and only takes white people to the service desk. Now I understand maybe they only had a few things but I personally had 3 items in my hand today. Why was I not called up? The lady working behind the desk looked dead at me and then went and called several other people who happened to be white. Typically would have given this store 1 star. Its always filthy and the staff was less than helpful. Yesterdays experience was a complete reversal. The store was clean, I wasn't swatting at flies in the produce section or sticking to the floors. I needed some veal ground, for meatballs and cutlets for my sauce. Id veen to 3 different stores and they had bison and elk but no friggin veal. You need this to make a proper sauce. A very helpful associate in the meat department (the kid knew his department) while talking with another associate, came out from behind the counter and guided me to the frozen section where, holy crap there's veal! I typically shop at Mariano's, Fresh Market or get my stuff delivered from the actual farm. Didn't even click in my brain to look in the freezer section, I always just go to the meat counter and pick up what I need. Yesterday this Kroger got an A. Keep it up, this store needs to turn around and maintain that as your standard. The only reason (IMHO) its profitable is because its really all that we have on this side. 3 grocery stores. read more

I have really grown to like Kroger more and more. Their definitely a notch above food lion, and a notch below martins. I like that they sell things I cant find in food lion. Their produce is pretty fresh, and prices are okay. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see a employee sweeping through the produce area ... Nothing worse than a grocery store that doesn't appear clean. The employees are friendly.. And will take your things out to the car, but not in the annoying way that martins does. This Kroger gets my vote, I like them and will continue to spend my hard earned cash n this location. read more

Used to be a big fan, lately it's gone down hill. You can tell when the rate of unemployment is low by the lack of qualified candidates businesses have to fill lately. We shop on the weekends. It might be a little more crowded but you used to be able to count on someone in the produce department restocking with fresh goods. It is mid-spring, so why is the spinach and kale yellow? But the prices are always better than Martin's and Food Dog so onward we trudge. We picked out our veggies and got home. The wife was cleaning the spinach and there was a palm-size ball of mud in the middle of the bunch. We paid by the pound. Seriously? I occasionally stop by this Kroger for groceries since it's located within a reasonable distance of Shockoe Slip (Downtown Richmond). Recently, I stop by to purchase some seafood. The seafood was good for grocery store quality. I was pleased with the products (king crab legs & shrimp). Service at the seafood section can use some tuning up. I felt rushed while selecting my seafood. The cashier made up for the lack of service in the seafood section at checkout. She was polite and professional. Her service was excellent. I would return if I needed certain seafood items or groceries. There's plenty of parking for customers. read more

The dirtiest Kroger I have ever been to, hands down. Unfortunately, this Kroger is close to my job so I have to run in and get a few things sometimes and it's always so dirty and that's a shame because the staff here is overall nice although one of the stock guys was yelling at another worker that he "wasn't gonna do no more work!" He was very loud and vocal and the other workers just stared at him and he just kept on and was still running his mouth as he was dragging a dolly. Ghetto! This is the closest Kroger to where I live, but I intentionally make plans to either run errands or eat somewhere that is closer to other Kroger locations so that this one can be avoided. It is an absolute madhouse in this Kroger at certain times during the week, very crowed and not very easy to navigate. I end up forgetting half of what I need because I am too busy trying to avoid people just standing in the aisles and staring or misbehaving children running around the store. I also think the meat and seafood at this Kroger are priced higher than the Carytown Kroger, which is another reason I avoid this location. Only pluses to coming here is that the staff is usually friendly, never a line at self check out, and it does have a gas station. read more

This has to be the funkiest Kroger I've ever been in. I don't ever plan to step foot in that place again. The store looks old and dirty and I swear I think the people that shop in there automatically lose their minds when they step foot in the door. I went in there one day and there was a man at the customer service counter buying a money order. 1 employee working the counter, so he was getting the money order printed. There was another man at the end of the counter and I'm not sure what he was doing other than screaming and yelling with the man buying the money order. They were cussing and arguing and threatening each other right there at the front of the store. The employee behind the counter just went about his business printing the money order. The cashiers just went about their business ringing up customers. The bag boys just kinda stood back and watched. The children didn't know what to think! Not a single employee asked either of them to leave. Not a single employee intervened. The wife of one of the men stepped in and made him leave. The son of the other man started running his mouth instigating. I could not believe the employees of Kroger let this happen, did absolutely nothing, acted like it was the norm. Never again will I step foot in that store. I will drive 20 miles away just to get to another Kroger (if they had something I absolutely couldn't live without). read more
