Came back at 6:30p, waited only 10 minutes this time! (They're open until 9p) Once vaccinated you wait with RN for 15 minutes in case of reaction. Very nice RN Gonzalez. I work in the prison system in a hospital setting (UTMB) and have been tested 10 times in the last 17 months since Covid began...so far so good. BUT, This deviant (LOL! variant) bastard of this virus can suck it...several hospitals between here and Beaumont are now at capacity in ICU and are again running out of ventilators/supplies. Im still uneasy about this vaccine...and my feelings/theory aren't subject to debate (by the way) but, here I am...may the Lord keep me healthy! Pfizer is the ONLY one offered here and my preference. It's 7:30pm...just tried calling them (because they're open until 9p, right?) Well, I waited 10 minutes and recording said hold time was greater than 15 minutes...PFFT! Lies! Go to CVS/Walgreens/Kroger...probably quicker all the way around.

I gave up trying to open the door because i didn't want to accidentally break it. I waited outside some more and when the door was opened for me 10 minutes later i went to the counter only to be told by the lady that I was 15 minutes late. It was only 9:12. I tried to explain to her the door was not opening (I even knocked twice) and she completely disregarded what I was telling her which I kind of brushed off maybe she wasn't a morning person. The staff was not nice. seemed like they didn't even wanna be there. There were moments during my eye exam I felt like the doctor was being a bit distant towards me, and I even tried to make a small talk but they just weren't having it. at one point he told me to un cross my legs, which confused me since they weren't in his way, and I thought the main focus was my eyes, not my legs.... it really sucks because I have been coming here since I was a kid and it seems like a lot has changed. no matter how polite I was they just all were very cold towards me.

WOW -- This is the place! Dr. Joanna Oaks is a caring, empathetic listener and a truly detailed…read morecaregiver. She was thorough and inquisitive about every aspect of my symptoms. I had never experienced laryngitis, even after 42 years of traveling as a motivational speaker and comedienne. I have asked so much of my voice over the years, and it has always delivered. This time felt different. I was honestly afraid. It was Friday, and I was flying out Monday for a keynote conference in Jacksonville. I needed help! She went above and beyond, sending more than I needed in pharmaceutical prescriptions to Walmart, with refills. Then she handed me her card, looked me in the eye, and said, "Now Toni, if you need anything else, you let me know, and we'll take good care of you." And I could tell she meant it. Today is Sunday, I feel better in my lungs, and cough, but I am now coughing up signs of infection from my lungs. With one quick call to Natalie in the office, she carefully noted my request for an antibiotic. Minutes later, she called me back to get the zip code of my hotel in Jacksonville so she could locate a nearby pharmacy. The doctor on call had my prescription sent there for pickup the next day when I arrive. Joanna took the time to look me in the eye and make me feel cared for. Natalie took the time on the phone to make sure I knew I was going to be okay. We need more caregivers who operate from their humanity as their greatest amenity in business. If I am ever back in Galveston, this is where I'm going. In fact, I'm holding onto their number. BTW -- when I asked Natalie what I owed for the phone consultation, she told me they were happy to help. WOW. I wish I could give them a million stars. When you are sick, this is exactly the kind of care you need. Thank you to everyone who was so kind and helpful. I truly appreciate all you did to get me back on stage, sharing laughs, love, and light with the world.
