I am only giving 2 stars because I generally like the store. Going through the self-checkout has been a nightmare each and every time I shop. I told the attendance tonight this was enough to make me not shop there any longer. I want to support the company for several reasons, but you need to get your hsit together, people. I use the Kroger pickup since it's supposed to be easier however my order is never ready at the pickup time and not only that the manager could careless, is rude, condescending and ignorant. I do not usually bother with customer loyalty programs, but Kroger's is worth it because of the in-store savings and the fuel points. Moreover, the loyalty card proved even more helpful recently when my receipt alerted me to a recall that could have potentially affected me. When the King Arthur flour E. coli recall went into effect, I was alerted on my receipts for later purchases about a previous purchase. All of the information about the potentially affected product--including the affected expiration dates--were supplied right on the receipt. I was really impressed with this action. On the whole, Kroger is my favorite market because it has a good selection, decent prices, and is always clean and well lit. Whenever I have had the occasion to speak with employees--whether just friendly chatting or requesting assistance-- I have always enjoyed the interaction and have been assisted courteously and professionally. Some highlights in the store are the olive bar, cheese selection, and international selection. There is a decent beer and wine selection as well. It's a good stop to grab a number of things at once when running to a party. Bakery is decent. Deals can also be found in their markdown section, and they usually have some nice things in their seasonal displays too. I've frequently found little gifts and stocking stuffers and that sort of thing depending on the season. The fresh flowers and plants are also quite nice and reasonably priced. Produce is fair, and one can find most things. Again, the prices are good for the availability. I can find most ingredients that I am looking for, including some more unusual ones. Self checkout makes running in and out of the store a breeze. There is always someone on hand, too, if there is a self-checkout issue. Overall, great store, particularly this location. read more

This is honestly the worst kroger I've been to. We just came from a lower socioeconomic area and the kroger was pretty good so in this "ritzy" area I expected the kroger to blow me away. It's only saving grace is the sub shop which my last kroger didn't have. However the sub shop has consistently closed before the advertised hours. The sign says open everyday 11-7 but the shop has been closed at 6 on multiple occasions. There is also no starbucks at this location which is unusual. I come here rather than food lion because the produce options are more numerous but the past few times I've been, almost everything has been sold out. They are consistently out of the coffee I like to purchase, out of many varieties of lettuce, only had one pack of my preferred crystal lite mix left, tons of open shelf spots where things had sold out and not been restocked. I thought I just was shopping on the wrong say and assumed restocking would be occurring the next day but I've shopped many different days and this seems to be a common pattern. It's unfortunate that I'm likely going to have to find a new store to shop at as kroger is the most affordable option around read more

TLDR; (Will no longer be shopping at Kroger. The encounter I had was incredibly inappropriate) I'm a contractor by trade and I spend close to $30,000 a year at this store purely on gift cards and some on groceries, as I would take advantage of the fuel points program. I've shopped at this very store for 16 years straight. I know a lot of the employees personally as I frequent this store every morning on my way into work and some nights on my way back. The other day I went to go get gift cards as I normally do (recently the gift cards hadn't been stocked like they used to). So, as I have done several times without issue, I opened the compartment that contains the gift cards to pull out the ones I needed. While I was attempting to get the cards an employee yelled very loudly across the way from me "You can't be in there, that's for Kroger employees only!!" It was very embarrassing as her volume commanded the attention of many other people in the store. I attempted to talk to this woman about what was going on but she just kept repeating the same thing over and over about, "You can't be in there." I set everything down that I intended to purchase and walked out of the store. I'm incredibly disappointed. I've worked retail as a manager for 10 years before becoming a contractor. This was the opposite way to handle this situation. This type of behavior is a cancer to the company. It drives away good business. Due to this encounter I have decided that I will no longer be shopping at Kroger (especially this Kroger.). All I have to say is good luck to this Kroger. If this behavior continues, the business will not last long. read more

Have been going here over two years now. Close and convenient up until they started getting carried away on selling their memberships. Don't put sale signs on items if you have to download coupons. They figure once you're inline and have waited so long you'll just pay the higher price. 3 x's on peaches. Other customers frustrated in line as well. We'll not shop there anymore. Sad to see my grocery store Failing quickly Every single line right now is backed up into the isles they barely have employees. The self checkouts have been shut down and they have installed a new version so instead of keeping those open for the people they close them. Hardly any lunchables. Staff is under payed and overworked with a staffing issue. We put an order in at 8 AM yesterday for pick up at 6 PM. They canceled my order till the next day highly unprofessional when I have multiple kids that need to eat. I love Kroger and missed it while living in Florida! I really love the layout. It's always clean and there are plenty of employees around to help you find anything you need. I love the fresh smell is coming from the bakery whether it's fresh made desserts or fresh bread. They even have mochi ice cream here! Two pieces of mochi ice cream is three dollars they have flavors such as coffee green tea mango and pineapple coconut. My favorite flavor has got to be the green tea and pineapple coconut. They also have a great craft beer section everything from local breweries to out of state breweries. read more

This is a great Kroger. I have been to a few different locations and this is one of the better ones. Probably the best thing about this location is that the shelves are always full. Most of the times that I go I find everything I need. I really like the produce department. The team that works produce does a great job. I usually do quick shopping that I use the self check out. Kroger has lost my business after my last grocery pickup order. I placed an order to pick up between 4-5 which I figured I could head there straight after work. The app says my order is ready. I go to pick it up. Wait 20 mins. Someone comes out to my car and says they're backed up, come back in an hour. Well then why does it say my order is ready?!? So I left around 5:13 and drove home with the exciting knowledge that I'd have to drive back out in an hour. So an hour rolls by and I drive back to pick up my order. I call this time since I'm mot sure how to check in as it still shows me checked in from earlier. The lady says "we thought you were here earlier"! And I'm like lady I was but you all told me to leave and come back. They didn't have 1/2 of my items in stock (which I don't know why they can't let you know ahead of time like every other store does) and I had to wait another 20 mins for someone to come to my car. I'm given my receipt and my order was ready at 5:15pm. They made me leave at 5:13pm to come back in an HOUR. If someone was shopping my order could you not just ask if I mind waiting while they finish?!? So pissed. Not one person apologized. Just a shitty experience. read more

I write this as I'm standing in the deli line-as I have been for almost 20 minutes. On a busy Sunday afternoon they have ONE person slicing with ten people waiting in line. This isn't exclusive to weekends either; I've never waited less than 15 minutes to get sandwich meat cut. It's ridiculous. Management, when told, couldn't have cared less. It should not take this long to grocery shop. Either get quicker people or get more of them but having one incompetently slow person working is ridiculous. This is by far my biggest gripe with this store, and also why I've started shopping at Publix. The amount of extra money I pay there is worth my time. read more

I like this store. Very clean and well organized. I really enjoy the deli. The food there is excellent and I love the rotisserie chicken.

Since Wegmans came to town, I regret that Kroger has gone seriously downhill. The staff are always friendly. Whenever there is an issue with a product, they are quick to correct it. Customer service is great, prompt, and personable. The majority of the issues are from section management. The bulk area, which is admittedly hard to find at a grocery store, is so frequently out of stock it guarantees a trip to multiple stores to get everything we need for dry goods. Produce is often hit or miss. We can find some real deals, but again the frequency of restocking items is a pain point. Non-organic avocado and sweet onions tend to be attacked by flies. Baby spinach is near impossible to find NOT in the gigantic plastic tub. The deli is good. Sushi selection is always consistent. Wine and beer is fantastic. The imported goods area is a nice touch. If you can fix the restocking issues, things would undoubtedly improve. read more

This has fast become my favorite Kroger in the area. We've shopped at quite a few but since this one was renovated, they've improved from what they were like before. Their produce section is amazing compared to other Krogers and for me, that's a deal breaker when it comes to a grocery store. Clearly people love the produce section because they seem to frequently run out of things. I don't believe this is the fault of the store. It's just a sign of their popularity (and that I need to go shopping at a different time). Their deli is much better now than pre-renovation with a more streamlined display and better variety. Loving the wine area with the little "bar." We always seem to miss the tastings they do there, though. My only complaint is that I was expecting more from their organic/health good section. All that hype for so many months about them building that section and this is all we get? Either way, I still enjoy this store very much and I just pray it doesn't go the way of other Krogers in the area. On a side note, Becky in the cheese shop is freaking awesome. She's so friendly and always has recommendations ready for us whenever we see her. She knows my fiancé and I are total cheese addicts so she enables us in the best way. :-) read more

I am disappointed with this Kroger. I know why the parking lot is always crowded. The employees are parking in the prime locations. I spoke to the manager about this and he told me that there isn't designated employee parking. I guess customers aren't a priority to him. The aisles in this store are super crowded not due to customers but due to "click it" employees and stockers that block your way! I spoke to the manager about the stocker's not moving out of the way so that I could reach the products and all he said was "We stock 24 hours a day." I've always been a loyal Kroger shopper wherever I've lived because it was always my favorite supermarket. Since moving to Midlothian, I've put up with this Kroger's cramped parking lot, their understaffed deli and their hit or miss produce department because it's Kroger and I'm Kroger loyal. However yesterday was my breaking point. It's like that store is making a concerted effort to eliminate walking space and room to breathe. I don't think they want customers in there and are doing everything they can to run us off. The store has become so cramped that you can't even push your cart around anymore. And they've shoved a long greeting card display into the front horizontal aisle between toiletries and the vertical grocery aisles. If a person is standing there reading cards, there's not enough room to push your cart around them so you're stuck until they move out of the way, causing some serious grocery store road rage. I get that they're removing the organics section and moving things around, but I can't take how cramped it is. And the click list shoppers, with their dump truck sized carts, obliviously and unapologetically block entire aisles from shoppers who are just trying to get in and get out. And don't even get me started on the deli section. Something has got to change or they're going to run all their customers off. read more

You seriously need either rollerblades, roller skates, skate boards or a bicycle to get thru the monstrosity of a supermarket. It literally tires me to walk thru here to get my groceries. I don't mind walking get you but this is ridiculous. Okay the aisles are nice and wide the shelves not too high hey I'm 5'7" not an issue with high shelves. I find often the prices to be high okay so they do have some good deals but is it worth the Trek? They need to create 2 aisles and call them Grab N Go keep bread, toilet paper, and other top things in them. Maybe for Richmond especially in the winter when than 4 letter word is uttered by weathermen call it the code Purple aisle. read more

This is my go-to grocery store in my area. I could always depend on this Kroger for anything that I need for home. They are very well stocked. They have fresh produce all the time. It can get busy at times at this location, but its not bad at all. Lines at checkout are not bad either. They have some self-checkout registers, which is awesome. The staff is nice and helpful. There is also a gas station at this Kroger location. The parking lot is a bit narrow and can be tight. Just watch out when you're about to park and when you're about to leave. read more

They were out of stock on 2 items I ordered, but I wasn't too bummed out since I was able to get all my groceries within the span of 5 minutes of pulling up. Super close/convenient coming off 288 and lots of things to love but they have some things to work on with the changing grocery market (Publix coming & other options available). What I love: the self checkout..... I always use self checkout even when I have a ton of groceries. When I'm doing the scanning and everything & packing I know it will be done to my liking :-) lol. However sometimes I'm in a time crunch if it's just more convenient to do the clicklist option. I like that you can order and pick up on the same day. So the concept of the clicklist is awesome....however every time I utilize it I have some type of issue. First I noticed all of my bags were in plastic which I had a note added to one of my items that stated I wanted paper bags packed tightly (note was on the same item that they had to substitute a different item for so you would think they would have read the note since it was on a substituted item). Not only did I have plastic but had many items that were one item to a bag (shrimp, tube of sour cream, really small stuff in their own bag). Also most every time I do clicklist they are out of stuff that I normally get every week when I do the shopping myself. I knew for a fact one of those items were not out of stock so I went in the store & took a clicklist associate to show him. I had an appointment I had to get to so I didn't have time to roam the store to check all of the items that were out of stock. I found also a larger size of Ukrops duchess potato casserole and he asked if I wanted & I thought he meant he was "giving " it to me since I showed him that they did in fact have one of the supposed out of stock items (Ukrops light chicken salad) and I got out of my car annnnd I'm pregnant lol. However, when he came back out with my adjusted total he did charge me for it lol. I was like ok. Later on after my appointment I called & spoke to the manager to let him know everything and he was appreciative of me communicating everything. Let him know last time I got a gift card when I had issues but hinted that wasn't necessary just wanted to let him know what happened & he says everything will be addressed. I remain positive that one day they will nail it, especially with the growing grocery market. Some folks won't come back once you burn them. I also after checking my receipt was charged for an item that was not on my online order printout but was on my receipt, I will take care if that tomorrow and also take my coupons in that I didn't have time for them to run back in and scan during the clicklist transaction. read more
