I really do like this Kroger. I usually go to the Med Center location, but my new place is in between the two. This one is really nice. I got to get used to the set up though. It's a little different than the other location, which is fine. The parking lot is pretty big. You might have to walk far at times, but there is always parking available It's a pretty big store and the wine selection is actually very good. They also carry a good amount of organic foods as well. This is definitely going to be my new regular grocery store. read more

This cute little pineapple I find just absolutely adorable! It was like a little bigger then my hand cute for kids. Kroger in my opinion is a much better grocery store then rest of them I love there quality of fruits and honestly anything your looking for you'll find there. There flower department is also very nice!! Sometimes it gets a little busy and difficult with parking but good things come to those who wait right. read more

This by far is one of my favorite Krogers I been to. There is so much going on at this Kroger. There were employees greeting customers, they were handing out samples, and they were staying busy. This Kroger is probably one of the most organized and cleanest I have been to. I subscribed to the weekly special on my email, and I always receive great coupons and special that they are having. One thing I liked a lot is that all the lanes were occupied and were on. You know when you go to another grocery store and just two or three lanes are open I hate that. There were no lines, everything went fast. This is a great place to get all your grocery needs. Loved it! read more

This is my favorite "filler" store (where I go for al my supplies after Whole Foods/Trader Joe's). The best thing is they have all my kitty supplies at reasonable prices. Most importantly, I sometimes have to go a bit late in the evenings and I always feel safe to park and shop. Some other things I like about this store: - Great salad bar - Customer service is quick and friendly for stamps, etc. - Self-check out is easy and efficient with paper and plastic bags - Great cheese shop - Nice gift card and greeting/note card selections - Love the wine selection, can always find some great choices and sale items at a good value - Love that they mail coupons customized to what you usually buy read more

Bill took me out of a line where I was next and sent me to self check out because it's faster the girl will check you out. Not only did that not happen, I waited 12 minutes for her to clear a mistake on my register. I had time to walk back to Bill and said I didn't appreciate what he did. His response? It is what it is! I returned to self checkout and my register was finally corrected minutes later. I remarked to the lady that they need to get her some help. Her response? It is what it is. What customer service! HEB across the street is looking better every day. read more

Since moving to Houston, over 9 years ago, I have been an HEB fan. As of recently, this has changed. I have returned to Kroger; the grocery I grew up with. They have a larger international section. This is not all encompassing, but it is very good. They have great produce specials: $.99 for a pint of blueberries (how is that possible). While you do need a card, which they will just enter if you don't have one, the specials are really good. I would put them on par with HEB for knowledge of employees, some helpful some have no clue. Will agree with other Yelpers that the PAs are annoying, but a little funny. Lastly, they have really good fried chicken, not the wing bar. It has to be fresh, but it is on par with restaurant fried chicken. I always ask and try to time the end of my shop to when it is coming out of the fryer. read more

This place is awful. Their shelves are seldom stocked even with their own mediocre selection. And they just refuse to stock some very normal items (no Windex or Pinesol...ever! Like they refuse to carry basic products). Went for fresh basil today (none) and some half and half (which they have half and half the time). I'm not going at 2am. I'm going at 5pm on a weekday or noon on the weekends. I just don't get what their problem is doing the basics of their job. They were also out of paper bags tonight. The entire store. And I grabbed a hand cart during COVID and got goo all over my hand when they are supposed to be disinfecting all the handles of incoming carts. PS. 2 employees were just hanging out in the cart area. If it weren't the most convenient location to where I live and the only place close by with water jug refilling, I would never step foot in here again. read more

Most of the store is great but the Deli is another story. I came at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and needed help in the prepared food island of the Deli. No one else was waiting so I thought this would be quick. Wrong. I asked for help from the main Deli counter and she called over to another girl to help. The other girl was chatting with a guy pushing a bread rack and continued her conversation. Five minutes later I called over to the first girl at the main Deli counter again for help and she called the same other girl over who was still chatting with the bread guy. I'm not sure what the conversation was but I thought customers mattered with a Kroger. I guess customers do not matter. read more

Okay this review is for the Kroger clicklist that they have at this location on Buffalo Speedway now I've come to the store plenty of times I actually like the store but for the past few times I've used clicklist and I've use clicklist on a regular basis they have been extremely slow. In the past when I arrive I will have my groceries in 10 or less 5 min if I am the only person in line. I don't know whats going on but it needs to be re evaluated. I am giving 3 stars for the click list service. read more

Honestly, still upset about the incident that I had at Kroger two days ago. I was checking out at 10:30 pm with my son in the cart and had 50+ items and there was only self-check out open at the time. There should be at least 1 checkout open, and it was VERY difficult to check out all my groceries and keep them on the waited scale at the same time. I called to make a verbal complaint, and they said that ironically the cashier should be open until 12a... Well, that certainly wasn't what was going on the evening I was there. read more

Growing up, I've only been a HEB shopper. Even working at Albertsons during high school, I was not expose to the potentials out there. After moving to Houston, I discovered this gem called Kroger. Kroger to me is rated in between HEB and Randall's, like little Miley Cyrus says its the best of both worlds! They have a great deli section and salad bar. I also love to hunt down their tagged clearance items, excuse me for being a savvy shopper! One thing that surprise me was the sushi bar, very yummy, great selection, cheap and fresh. I go to this location about once a week for the necessities (i.e. toilet paper, Lean Cuisines, shampoo and deodorant). Parking can be a B word, but I am willing to make the trek out here. So kick it to the curb HEB, you are so old news! read more

I used to come to this Kroger all the time when I was in college. It was--and still is--open 24 hours, so, when my roommate and I pulled all-nighters and didn't want to wait for Katz's to have its breakfast menu, we'd look at each other and decide to go get some cheese or popcorn from Kroger. I also remember driving my roommate's car to Kroger and crying--in all seriousness--when I got pulled over for running a stop sign. That was the last time a police officer let me go without a ticket (granted, all the other times have been when I'd been speeding...). Not much of a story extended made short, I haven't been to this Kroger in a while, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has been renovated, like most, but not all *cough* Montrose location *cough*, Krogers. It's still as clean and huge. The pharmacy and toiletry section appears to be the same, and it's still to the left of the store. However, it has a nice selection of prepared foods (soups, salads, meals), bulk nuts (no, not a bunch of guys standing around), an organic section, a gelato area, and a make-your-own-cupcake area. The latter two are closed when late, which is a shame. Can you imagine designing cupcakes whilst working off a buzz? Awesomeness. Of course, the more frou-frou additions aren't on par with a Whole Foods or Central Market, but, if you're feeling in a fancy but not picky mood, you can still satisfy yourself. For instance, the cheese section is expanded, and I spotted Humboldt Fog, Valdeon, and...I think an Ibores? The cheeses are prepackaged and not cut from a wheel, and the cheeses that are cut from wheels are the weird French bries (weird, because French bries have to be pasteurized to be imported to the US, so no bueno--get an Explorateur, Pierre Robert, Brillat-Savarin, or Nancy's Hudson Valley Camembert from Central Market instead). Oops, me and my tangents. What, besides the gelato and make-your-own-cupcake area, is there to keep you from going to the fancified HEB across the street? The Seattle's Best Coffee upstairs. The stairs are located by the prepared foods section, in the right corner of the store (the right when you first walk into the store). There are no baristas in the wee hours, but you can still study on the shiny couches or tables along the banister. Though, I do wonder if that's a good idea. What if someone despairs at her efforts to pass a class, and decides to leap off the banister? (Tangents, Anna, tangents.) read more

It seems silly to write a review for a grocery store, but in this case, they deserve it! I usually shop at my Kroger in The Heights, but it is a real treat when I'm in the area and can do my shopping at this Buffalo Speedway location. It is leagues apart from the other grocers in town, including their own in other areas. Yes, this location is larger with a bigger selection of practically everything imaginable, but it is the stellar customer service that makes me love them. I don't have to load my groceries from my cart to a conveyor belt. The cashier does it. My regular location on Shepherd retrograded to those annoying conveyor belts! Who thought that was a good idea? The cashiers and baggers are always upbeat, friendly and helpful which is such a nice change. This seems to be the only Kroger that hires people who like working and enjoy being around people. I don't think I require that much from people, but if you can't manage a simple smile or a sincere "hi", maybe you should go find a desk job behind the scenes where you won't be forced to interact with the public. This Kroger really does turn a menial weekly task into an enjoyable one. read more

This kroger has a wonderful deli and 2nd floor dining area. Kroger - Well stocked! - Grocery Near Me - Houston, Texas

I wouldn't normally review a grocery store, but lately I have been having really good experiences at my regular shopping spot! First of all, I love this location and I love that this is a Signature store. I feel like no matter how unique the item I am looking for, they usually tend to have it in stock. Another reason I love this Kroger so much is because it's size. It is very large, has ample parking and it is never so crowded you want to scream (nothing like the circus of HEB across the street). The quality of Kroger brand items are really impressive as of late also. They are now selling this "Carbmaster" brand that is perfect for someone watching their figure. It offers a lot of protein without all of the carbs! They have a great cheese selection and if you go on the weekends, they are always offering samples. The wine vendors tend to frequent this location as well, making your shopping experience much more fun with a little buzz from all of the samplings that are offered. It's also a good way to try new wines and find your new favorite! The store is well-laid out with wide isles, always clean and the service is really good most of the time. Especially since Mr. Bill has taken over running the location. He is the sweetest man, always saying hello to us and finding us shorter checkout lanes. He will even help bag groceries if needed too! We love Mr. Bill! read more

As a Shipt shopper, Kroger is the last place you want to shop. The lines are ALWAYS SUPER LONG with few checkout lines open to check out. If you guys are going to compete with HEB you must do better. The shelves are practically empty no matter what time you shop, when do you restock? Are you getting supplies daily? Standing in long lines with half of the items on my list and 30 + minutes to check out affects my pay read more

This was like a regular Kroger, but fancier. Perhaps I'm use to my regular Kroger since I found this almost a little "too fancy" for my tastes. I'm sure if I came here regularly I could get use to it, but my first impression was "geez, everything is so fancy." read more

Three stars because it seems as if every time i reluctantly shop here, the parking lot is crowded with baskets. I've been going to this Kroger once a week for the past 3 years. This is in my area and everything is kept really nice and clean. But the customer service I received the past few times at the self check out is unacceptable and I doubt I will go back to this store. I had a question to ask regarding the item I was buying, and this employee named "Precious" rudely cut me off, didn't even bother to listen to my question and yelled out, "You need to press the pay button!." YUCKY ATTITUDE! I was speechless and totally disgusted in her demeanor. She makes it very clear that her life is horrible. That does not excuse her to be rude to customer who's paying her salary. I went to complain at the manager, he apologized on her behalf but I don't know what else was done to resolve this unacceptable customer service. With all other choices with grocery chains in the area, why should I bother to go back to this Kroger? read more

This store used to be 5 stars but the customer service really has gee down!! High points: 1. Starbucks is in store and very convenient. 2. Meat section is great, they are helpful and will cut meats the way I like it. 3. Great selection of organic/gluten free items. 4. Great selection of organic fruits and veggies. 5. Morning manager is awesome!! Very engaging with customers!! Low Points: 1. Cashiers are not interested in there jobs!! They are rude at times and don't pay attention to the customers. 2. Evening managers don't seem as engaged with customers! Seems like they are just collecting a paycheck!! 3. Flower shop is always without attendant. I've wanted flowers wrapped to take home and no one is ever around. 4. They got rid of the cool shopping carts with video in them. My kids loved them, but they are no longer there! Overall this stores is ok, but I may start going across the street to HEB. read more

Perhaps, I'm prejudiced. I've done grocery shopping at H.E.B. as well. They're not bad, but (this) Kroger is much better. This store has a really good deli/sushi bar, chicken wings/Tex-Mex bar, and lots of fruits and vegetables. They also have an organic section, as well as gluten free, and specialty foods you might find at Wholefoods, yet for a lot less. There is also a flower shop, a bakery, a cheese bar, an olive bar, a section for cooking products and utensils. I guess I always notice that I can find just about everything I'm looking for in this store; which is why I don't bother going anywhere else. Would definitely recommend getting a Kroger Plus Shopper's card. You will save at least 5% of the regular prices. I'm such a regular at this store that my daughter works there, and I know most of the staff, including Carolina, who works the evening shift, and Charles, the store manager on the day shift. If you stop by, I would highly recommend talking to Charles, who keeps everybody in the store humming efficiently. As he says, "I keep this store on 'lock down:' I keep everyone on their toes." He even once told me that I go there so often, I should clock in... Gotta love it! read more

This store should be avoided at all cost. How it continues to exist in the West University area in its habitually substandard condition, I will never know. It's never fully stocked. Shelves and displays are regularly empty. You can't find many different kinds of normal products there on a regular basis. Half of the already poorly-stocked produce section is wilted or rotting, also on a regular basis. The entire lettuce section is an unmitigated disaster. There are almost no fresh herbs. There's almost no selection of chile peppers. There's expensive, sometimes-moldy cheese that you have to sell a kidney to afford. There's a gourmet antipasti selection that is suspiciously crusty and under-attended. I got food poisoning from some smoked salmon, most of which I threw away, thank goodness, because it tasted weird. But I'd have been substantially better off (trust me on this) if I hadn't tasted any of the salmon at all. Additionally, they were apparently rationing cart returns when they built the parking lot, so some of the aisles have none, leaving you to either rattle around the lot in search of a return, or abandon your cart near your space and let it roll into some hapless person's car. But worst of all - WORST OF ALL - the other day while I was at this Kroger (for the last time, and I mean it) SOMEONE STOLE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION while it was still in my purse and wallet - apparently using some kind of RFID scanner. THEY TRIED TO MAKE $170 WORTH OF PURCHASES WHILE i WAS STILL AT THE STORE, at which point my credit card company texted me a fraud alert and I had to go home and cancel all of my credit cards, which, by the way, was rather inconvenient. (Similar to the food poisoning.) When I called Kroger to report the incident the next day, the manager's response was that 'this happens sometimes' and I should file a police report. Instead, I figure I can solve my whole array of Kroger-related problems once and for all by simply never going to go to the store again. Ever. Never ever. Really, though. For any reason. And if you would like to save yourself a fair amount of disappointment, annoyance, hassle, stomachaches, theft and other sorts of trouble, I would advise you to do the same. read more

This is NOT the nicest Kroger. They would like you to believe that they are posh, but they are ghetto underneath it all. The one on W. Gray is much nicer. First of all, they played the worst music I've ever heard the whole time I was there. Grocery stores should play neutral music, or music that's easy to ignore, but every single song was absolutely scathing. R&B with grating vocals, country music that sounded like it was being sung by someone with a learning disability, and an auto-tuned cover of "Life is a Highway" to name a few. I shouldn't cringe that much when I'm doing my shopping. On top of that, the customer service was atrocious. Our cashier didn't say hello (even after I said hello to him first), wouldn't look us in the eye, didn't ask for my Kroger card (I stood there holding it out until he finally looked up), didn't know any of the produce codes, and abused every item we bought. Then he mumbled something that we couldn't understand when he handed us the receipt. read more

This store is nice and clean. I drive past the Kirby location (yep that serious) just to come to the Buffalo Speedway location. They always have what I need and even if something is out of stock I can quickly find an alternative. The staff is pretty friendly especially in the meat department. Never have had any issues with assistance. They have however changed what items are on what aisle and because I was so use to going down certain isles for certain items, this kind of changed things for me. I was literally looking like Patrick in that meme where everything was blurry around him. (Only some will get that correlation) But I'm okay and have adjusted to that minor changes. They also offer ClickList. This is a service where you can order your groceries online and pick them up for a small fee of $4.95. I've used this service about 5 or more times. Saves on TIME! I can run my errands in the area and pick up my groceries and go home. Pretty cool feature Kroger! read more

Being nestled right in the middle of two affluent areas, this Kroger has everything...extensive wine and beer section, extensive produce, seafood and butcher section and all the bells and whistles that you can think of for a nice grocer. My only complaint is the hot food area and their meal deal...I know this sounds crazy but, the CONTAINER is really crappy. It is poor quality and it doesn't lock shut. I told the clerk to speak to the manager for me but, she probably didn't. Anyway, if there is a manager reading this...handle that! lol read more

I know it's weird to have a favorite grocery store, but I absolutely love this Kroger! It has everything I would ever want in a grocery store -- from organic sections, bread bakery, cake bakery, sushi, american food, etc. The first time I walked in here, I thought "OMG, I'm in heaven." My produce and meat selections have always been fresh, but what I like the most is that they have items I've never seen before. They have samples during the day, and I tried some a spinach & artichoke hummus. I'm all about trying something new, and I'm glad I did. It was so good [..and I don't normally like hummus] that I actually bought some. Samples are always good. Last but not least, I feel safe. I've been in this Kroger many times late at night because I'm a night owl, and every time, I don't feel threatened in any way. Yay for safety! read more

Kroger has upped their game a notch, no doubt feeling the competition from the big new HEB across the street. In particular, this store has a cleaner, lighter and more up to date feel than most Kroger stores. Unfortunately, a Kroger is still a Kroger. They eliminated the in store butchers and in store bakeries years ago and have not brought them back. As a result, the meat section is dominated by prepackaged items of questionable content. What do they put into the "Moist and Tender" pork to modify the texture? Those prepackaged ground meats in opaque containers are the kind of item that generates the "X million pounds of ground beef was recalled today..." headlines. Similarly, the baked goods section at Kroger needs a serious makeover. I am just not that interested in a $1.00 prefab mini apple pie laden with preservatives and corn starch. Ditto the chocolate section. Gourmet chocolate at Kroger mean Hershey's and Nestle's dark chocolate bars, not the selection of gourmet brands and imports that you find at HEB, Whole Foods or Central Market. Cadbury is exotic for Kroger. read more
