Angry letter to Kroger's (and I'm not even an angry person!): Look Kroger, I trusted your commercial that you would save me money. But guess what!? You didn't! OK, I admit you carry quality products but I do believe you are overcharging me. I went to your location for my biweekly grocery shopping. I decided I wanted coloring pencils and crayons (don't ask me why) and what did you do?! You charged me three times the price. Yes, You did!! Stop lying! Walmart told me. No, he wasn't trying to gossip but they had the coloring pencils I paid $3.49 for for $1!!!!!!!! The nerve of you! I seriously felt like going back and returning them, but I don't even want to see you again. Yeah, and the crayons I paid $3.99 were $2.49. You disappoint me so. To think that this is only what I actually had the chance to check, who knows how much more you overcharged me in other stuff. I despise you (well, maybe not despise maybe dislike) and shall forever blacklist you. Yeah your store is clean and well organized and has live music sometimes (I may be thinking about the one on West gray), but so what!? You can't buy me love!! You have to earn it by saving me money (like Walgreens). I shall come to you ONLY when I need something that I can not find else where. Meanwhile. You Suck. Signed: The economy is bad, don't take my money. read more

My go-to grocery store for the past four years-- my entire time in Houston. It's a nice store, with clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and a good selection (and some good Asian food and condiments, too!). The selection of produce is normally pretty great, too. However, going late at night (like past 9pm) usually means that some of it has sold out-- I think Kroger restocks in the morning. Gets busy on the weekends, and you park a bit far back in the parking lot on those days. Another plus-- if you have a Kroger rewards card (free), you can get money off your gas! I'm going to miss this grocery store when I move! It's been good to me. :) Nothing super fancy, but pretty gosh darn reliable. read more

Said it was open until 1AM I got there at 12:20 to find every door closed and nobody inside. Please make sure your hours are correct.

Rudest employees I have ever experienced at a Krogers. I know that my comments won't matter. Cause the other option is Feista. I asked for an item. I was told no we don't have it. I said I just saw it. No smiles just a mean look. I went to scan. She never let the items leave her hand. She took the items to the other shelf Check out. That person told the other employee check me out over there. The original employee said I'm not open. I felt like I was not the right race or color. read more

I was this morning in my favorite store of years Kroger by kirby. I have an horrible experence. I was paying and a couple of white People was waiting back on me to pay also. They was saying that many people came in here just to abuse of cupons and food stamps and alot of racist words not directly to me but they was laoud. So they decide to go to another cashier and they didnt say excuse me. They said to me move on AND THEY PUSH MY GROCERY CAR WITH MY 5 MONTHS BABY IN IT. I WAS so angry that i only get out the store crying and so Upset with the manager that he saw everything and didnt say a word. Of course he was white also. SAY NO TO RASISM. 3464029865 read more

I reluctantly added a star because they have a gas station, and my main Kroger on Buffalo Speedway does not, but that's about the only thing it has on that location. We came here because it's pretty convenient to us, but we were seriously confused when we walked in. The atmosphere was weirdly dreary to us and their selection was nothing like the one on Buffalo Speedway. The produce, meats, and literally everything we wanted was either not there or did not look nearly as appealing. We did not end up spending more than 5 minutes in the store before turning around and deciding to go to the other Kroger... I would highly recommend Buffalo Speedway over this in order to get a real Kroger experience. This one is only good for the gas station prices. read more

Kroger gas inside the loop...rejoice! This may put my Costco membership in jeopardy. The customer service at the self check out was painfully slow...they really seemed disinterested in being there and were super lethargic. The store itself is fantastic, not too big, not too small and not terribly crowded. I will be back for certain. read more

I had a fresh sandwich prepared at the Kroger deli department and was disgusted with the sanitary habits of the employees. I had to request multiple times that the staff member change her gloves because she repeatedly handled stationary equipment in the midst of making my sandwich. None of their food provisions are in one place, requiring her to run from cabinet to cabinet, back of the store [walk-in frig] to front [food prep area], opening jars, bags, drawers, etc., and each time she touched a foreign object, I had to remind her to change her gloves. At one point she thought it was okay to wipe her gloves with a paper towel, rather than change them. I'm concerned that although deli/bakery staff prepare food, they do not have their 'food handlers' permit/certification. Have all new employees attended these classes? Perhaps a refresher is in order. read more

Don't get me wrong. I got much love for my fellow Yelpers, but this K-Roger blows. Now, the selection is good, it's clean, and there's almost always something useful or at least interesting on sale, so don't get me wrong there. The problem is customer service... Or lack thereof. Seriously, I got a full basket of groceries I've unloaded onto your conveyor belt and you're gonna turn around and talk to your bagger about what a tool the manager is? Seriously? It's the weirdest thing. This would be a great grocery store if not for the fact that the cashiers and baggers seem to have the attitudes and attention spans of cats being exposed to flashing lights and loud noises. OK, they're young. I get that. Really. But for the sake of everything frozen that I'm trying to buy, can it for three minutes and let me check out! No wonder the lines are always bad and almost everyone prefers the self check out. read more

This bakery is absolutely the worst, they either can't find your order or they do it's wrong . Never coming to this Kroger ever again

This kroger is really hit or miss. It tends to be on the cleaner side, has gas, starbucks, and the employees are pretty good. The issue is with the produce section. I constantly have to go to a different store in the area to try to find something for a recipe because they either didn't have it in stock or what they actually do have is already in bad shape. I shouldn't have to worry about throwing away veggies if I don't eat them within 24 hours. That being said this store does carry a pretty good health and international variety of products. The meat section tends to be pretty quality with good cuts of fresh meat being replenished every so often. Fixing the produce quality would def get this store around 4 ish stars, but it's not a five. I mean it's no publix and that's obvious. read more

Came here to get a last minute cake for a friend's birthday party. We wanted to personalize it with their names. Russel (the manager) was gracious enough to let us in the back of the bakery to pipe the names on ourselves! He even offered a free balloon but the free decorating session was all we needed. 4 stars for superb service but not 5 because their prices are high imo compared to another certain competitor's place. In the supermarket business, aside from low prices, the best way to differentiate yourself is with awesome service with Russel exhibited. Keep up the great work Russel! read more

Let me first just start out with - FIREMEN! They shop here and lots of them are hot. Other than that it's your standard Kroger with a bakery, deli and groceries. I have to stop in and pick up birthday cakes, cards and balloons for work every once in awhile. Make sure they fully blow up your Mylar balloons I snag a few egg rolls from the deli and Upside down caramel machiato from the Starbucks inside then head back to work quite content. read more

The store is one of the older ones but the staff is trying. The addition of " hansel" as the wine steward is a real plus for the store. He has a great. Personality that exudes customer welcome and encourages good cheer. Extensive wine selection here. read more

This Kroger gets one star for having a gas station and organic plain full fat yogurt. It has nothing else going for it. I always leave this Kroger frustrated, with multiple issues per trip. Today there were no prices displayed for 5 pound bags of clementines or honey crisp apples (and no employees around to ask). Three things from my shopping list were out of stock (sometimes in the past it has been whole milk out of stock!) and at check out my Clif bars and lettuce rang up incorrectly. Oh, and then of course, the catalina coupons couldn't print. It's like this every visit. Save yourself the hassle and go to the Old Spanish Trail location (old and run down, smaller selection, but fantastic employees) or the Buffalo Spdwy location (with a huge selection). read more

Update: EVERY SINGLE TIME I have been here since I left the first review- which is many, many times- the buggies have been strewn around the parking lot. The ones up front are usually the ones with broken wheels that nobody is using. The last time I went which was a few days ago, i had to dodge a buggy parked straight in the middle of the driving lanes in the parking lot. I also had to walk out in the pouring rain and hunt down a usable buggy. They really, really need to be better about this. Otherwise, this store remains my go to and I really like their produce and meats section! read more

Mich nicer than the Kroger that is slightly closer to my house, with a larger selection of everything (it's just a bigger store). It's a little annoying to get to and traffic on Kirby is sometimes bad. But I think I'll be coming back here again. read more

This is a nice Kroger very clean they have good fresh meat and produce I will definitely be going back again

I hate this Kroger, but I love their pharmacy (please see my separate review on that). Why do I hate this Kroger? Let me count the ways ... 1. It's dirty. 2. The veggie items (Amy's, MorningStar and the like) are WAY overpriced. More than Supertarget and H-E-B, and possibly even Whole Foods, and not nearly the selection. 3. There are never enough open checkout lines. 4. The self-checkout machines are SO crappy; half the time they are broken, making it even more irritating that there are never enough open checkout lines. 5. The bakery items? Meh. Not much of a variety. I've seen way better cupcakes and brownies and stuff to choose from at other Krogers. The pies are good, but half of one costs twice what a whole frozen one that is equally good costs. 6. The produce is not that good, and usually costs more than H-E-B. 7. I caught a man stealing a ton of stuff in there last week, and when I did my civic duty and told store personnel, no one did a thing to stop the man, not even the security guard up front. 8. The checkers and stockers are not friendly. Remember back in the day when store clerks would say hi and ask you how your day was? No more. I don't know if it's Gen-Y me-me-me ethos or the fact that minimum wage plus the shrinking value of the American dollar is making these people very unhappy and anti-social, but whenever I'm there I either A) encounter a checker who says nothing and looks unhappy and/or perturbed by the thought of helping you; or B) encounter a checker who seems to be in a great mood but completely ignores you while carrying on a way-to-personal conversation about his or her love life with the sacker. Redeeming qualities (making this review a star above One Star): There are a few organic items. Sometimes there are some really good manager specials on steaks. The ice cream is very often on sale. The Verdict: I pretty much only shop here if I am getting a few things while waiting on a prescription, or if it's late, and the hubby and I don't feel like getting sucked into the Supertarget, or driving the extra mile to H-E-B. read more

Really enjoying this Kroger a whole lot more since the renovation is finished. And boy did it need it! When I first moved to this area I was really glad because of the proximity but disappointed about the interior. Thank God I got here mid-facelift, who know what I would have thought prior to the beautification process. I don't know if I have been spoiled by the Kroger that I was used to in Katy but this one was a shocker. They added a Starbucks, a really beautiful deli and new self-check out lanes. Everything is its "home" instead of some make shift shelf in attempt to get it out of the way so shoppers wont be frustrated while trying to get in and get out. They also upgraded their health food section as well. Its bigger and offers a better selection. The employees are really nice and there is one gentleman in particular that I have come to make my go to guy for finding whatever item I need. read more

For groceries, this Kroger is just ok. Being smaller than most locations, I find they frequently have small selections of pretty commonplace produce, juice, bread, etc. and more than once they have been totally out of a standard produce item (e.g. ginger - I'm not talking some exotic fruit). People who work here are very nice and it is convenient as the only other nearby option is fiesta, and this Kroger certainly has higher quality options than fiesta if you can afford it. That said, I find Kroger to be overpriced compared to HEB or trader joes. You will frequently notice patrons leaving their carts in perfectly good parking spaces, for some reason more so than other grocery stores. Come on, people! Annoying that my Kroger card doesn't work in the checkout line (but does work in the self check out line) and every time it has to be a discussion just to get the discount. 4 stars for cheaper gas prices, though! read more

Bah..Kroger! I am just not a fan of a place that requires you to have a "card" in order to save money. The fact that you can go from paying 4 dollars for 4...6oz cartons of raspberries with card or 16 dollars ($3.99 each- normally) without a card is STUPID. If it's on sale, just let the sale price ring up and be done with that. Kroger is also EXPENSIVE even for basics, and if you want a speciality item/brand that HEB might not carry, be prepared to shell out the moolah... like Whole Foods prices! The two stars is because this Kroger has a gas station attached to it and gas can be cheaper there... sometimes. This location is busy, dirty, and the produce department is small. If I come here it's because I needed a last minute item and didn't want to drive up Buffalo to HEB. read more

Krogers floral area is fairly cheap and always has a nice variety. I like the fact that you can create pretty much anything and leave out with an amazing arrangement. At least once a week I grab a few roses or hydrangeas for less then $7! read more

Kroger - $7 pink roses - Grocery Near Me - Houston, Texas

Why does this place only have 2 lines open at 7:30pm on a Monday night and the lines are wrapped around the isles. The location 10010 Cypresswood Houston, TX 77070 has a manager name Philip. Philip is rude and racist. I have notice him treating several African Americans customers rude. My family and I go to location at least 5 times a week because it is 2 minutes from the house. Today I went shopping there were several items that required digital coupon. I had to stop shopping and try to add the items to my profile; it didn't work. The young lady that rung me up was no help. So I decided to speak with the manager Philip whom was talking to another employee when I walked up. Philip didn't acknowledge my present which I thought was rude but then I informed him about digit coupon error. Philip could care less what I was saying to him. I notice the cashier while I was waiting to speak to Philip add the discount to another lady purchase (she was not black). When I brought this to Philip attention his response was she can't add the digital coupon discount. At this time I am like really because we both just heard the customer say thank you to cashier for adding the discount. I will be definitely be contacting someone at the corporate office. Also get some flyers together and reach out to other Africian Americans customers that has experience Philip racist behavior towards African Americans. Also, contact the local news. If we have to have a peaceful protest then I will make sure the BLM organization and the new Black Panther party is there. Something has to be done about Philip and others like him. Black people send their money at this location just like white people and we shouldn't be treated any differently because of the color of our skin. I am tired of just ignoring it and going to another Krogers. Why should I have to? I live in this neighborhood and shouldn't have to drive extra 10 to 15 minutes, when I am literally 2 minutes away. I say this to Krogers if you are okay with Philip treated your African Americans customers as if we are beneath him, then shame on you for allowing this racist behavior. read more

This Kroger is like most Krogers. It's true. You will not walk in here and cry with happiness. You will also not walk in and cry in disappointment. First thing you will notice is the Starbucks on your right when you walk in. Get your shot of espresso and let the experience begin: You will probably run down the aisles screaming "Ahhh! This is an ordinary Kroger!" Then you will venture to the produce area and see that they're all pretty fresh and good looking. The bakery looks good too, and so does their deli. After this quick tour, you will realize this is a decent clean place and that like me, you will probably return if you live in the area :-) read more

I always leave pissed off. The workers are miserable and horrible. I do however like their produce section it's better than the selection at the store closer to me. I typically come to this one only when I need meats and produce, because otherwise I'd prefer to go to the truly ghetto store with friendly service members. I always have to weigh the options, leave a store and be pissed off for about 15 minutes because of deplorable service? Or leave a store and be annoyed by poor produce items for a week? read more

Kroger - Grocery Near Me - Houston, Texas

Visited this Kroger for the first time today and it was a pretty standard grocery experience - nothing fancy, nothing bad. They had almost everything I was looking for and it was organized appropriately. I spent a little more than I was expecting for a Krogers, but nothing too crazy. Their homemade pizza ingredients were severely lacking. Only the Kroger brand just-add-water crusts (like I've said before, I find these somewhat tolerable compared to the pre-made cardboard concoctions you find in some stores), two brands of canned pizza sauces (Ragu and Kroger brand - neither are good), and your standard cheese selections. Overall, it's a decent place to get groceries, but I will probably check out a few other stores before venturing back. And their homemade pizza selections left much to be desired. read more

This is my neighborhood Kroger. It gets the job done but nothing extraordinary about this place. I do like the Kroger gas though since I spend enough here in a month to get 10 cents off per Gallon. read more

My spouse and I went shopping here last night. We went there to purchase a small rose bush for our daughter. There was a mix up in prices, which wasn't a big deal. After we rang up our entire purchase at the self checkout, a staff member rushed up and took the plant out of our bag, walked accross the store and checked the price, and made a price up after being unable to provide the correct price. We were treated as if we were thieves stealing a rose bush out of Kroger. At this time, both the manager amd associate refused to serve us the product at the correct price. Meanwhile, a man with a cart full of groceries makes the alarm go off on the way out. THEY TOLD HIM TO GO AHEAD. YOU ARE OK!. Shortly after that, the police arrived and physically removed her from the store. For she was understandably irate. She was thrown on the ground before they even asked for our side of the story. They said they call was a "Crisis Situation". We have never witnessed or been a part of such harrassment. Unfortunately Kroger has lost two loyal customers. We are never shopping here again. And will be spending our time and money at other grocery supply chains. I believe that it is necessary for management and employees be trained more on customer relations. I also believe that managers and employees are not reprimanded enough for their actions. read more

I've shopped at a Kroger between Kirby and Main for nearly forty years now. The current iteration is very frustrating to me. The loyalty program is great, with lots of good (and usable) coupons. The pharmacy is competent and meets or beats the stated filling time. As my shopping needs have become more precise over time, the store's selection has become more limited and even worse, the produce section has shrunk and is very poorly managed. On recent visits: no spinach, no cilantro, no cucumber, no radishes... the mushrooms are dreadful, they only sell basil by the giant tub or live plants, both at a premium price. If I need fresh produce, my default choice is now the nearby Fiesta. I'll drive further to the West U HEB just to avoid this Kroger. read more

They just rearranged the entire store and I can't find any of my brands. The store employees act clueless when you ask and the majority don't understand English when you try to ask where everything went. It seems a majority of things are not carried there anymore. I frequent this Kroger because the location is convenient for me. Does it get the job done? Yes. Would I jump for joy if an HEB were put in its place? OMG YES. I started using the self-checkout years ago at this location after noticing mistakes on every receipt when I had my items rung up by a cashier. (One time? Whatever, no biggie. But it was every. dang. time.) But the thing that really kind of drives me nuts is that they are almost always out of hand baskets by the main entrance--they're all at what should be the main exit, so you have to go against the flow of traffic to grab one. Maybe an employee could be assigned the task of checking every so often to see if the hand baskets need redistributing? read more
