My go to grocery store. It is the closest full grocery store-but I would travel a little for it. The building itself is a little dated-but I don't need a juice bar or a Starbucks when I am doing my everyday grocery shopping. The selection is more than sufficient and they even have a pretty nice beer and wine section. The staff is courteous and helpful They also seem to know the store fairly well. Prices are in line with other grocers in the area and when they mark things down you can get some great values. I actually stop by almost every day just to see if they have something good marked down- I may not need it then but that is what freezers are for. If you are in the area and want good service and good prices and are not worried about frills that some fancier stores have you should do your self a favor and stop in. read more

Ok, so if you enjoy being limited on vegan, dairy free, gluten-free or seafood you may want to consider going elsewhere. The products are ancient but are still on the shelves collecting dust. It's the fact that things are expired, old and re-frozen or frost bitten and still being sold. I thawed out rotten seafood that was frozen and they just take the return and still won't fix it. The service is long and the store is racially inappropriate. There's limes, onions, cilantro and tomatoes at the entrance so I'm not sure what that's about but a store should just be a store. We shop this Kroger on w walnut St. Garland TX . Nearly everyday and and have for 10 yrs. We have found in the past few months that the meat dept. Has went down greatly. We've bought bad meat and carne picado that had hair in 2 packages. Chicken that was ruined . roast that were ruined. This is terrible. I rarely shop at this store, instead driving an additional 15 minutes to another Kroger. When the coronavirus pandemic started, the vast majority employees refused to wear masks. When I ask why, I received answers such as "it is too hot". Tonight, the weather is cold and rainy. There is not one available grocery cart in the store - the parking lot is filled with carts. How is a person to shop if there are no carts？ There are other things I have seen. Bottom line: most of the employees should be fired. read more

Went in there last night to get Veggie Straws... an extremely popular item sold absolutely everywhere. Guess what?!? They don't carry them!!!!! Careful with the prices! We almost got overcharged $28 on two items due to the way the items were so confusingly stocked and marked. No, I don't live in Garland; my mother-in-law does. She told me not to go to this store; I should have listened. The store is pretty clean and has a good selection. This is the second time I've been chastised at this fuel station. This lady with black hair accused me of stealing because I just walked from a smoke shop with a drink in my hand. I told her I was looking at the lottery ticket prices before coming up to the window to purchase and she kept accusing me of stealing and asking where I got my drink and stuff from while I showed her all my items. I started crying because for one I was already having a bad day enough. To make it worse I'm a innocent person trying to get a lottery ticket just to take care of myself. I will not stand to be treated like a criminal. This is upright humiliation. While I tried to get my ticket she responded with a "sorry we are out of them" so I just gave up and walked home. My go-to grocery store. I live off Miller & 1st, and I drive here instead of Wal-Mart. It's worth the extra 5 mins on the road. I always find what I need, it's clean, friendly workers, love the deli and the butcher. What more do you need? My favorite store. I shop there several times a week. The only complaint that I have is they allow Panhandlers to walk the parking lot and stand by the doors. Today there was a woman Panhandler with her 3 kids sitting by the door as customers come out. Apparently it is ok with the management for them to do so. read more

I live across the street in the neighborhood near this location and I have for 3 years now. I work in the service industry so my hours mean I get off late after working all day as long as 14 hours straight sometimes. When I get off around 11-12am I typically have to run by Kroger's to do my shopping for my young daughter and I and I'll tired when I'm finishing my long day up. They've gone through some different self checkout people lately and for the longest time Phillip was always there and a friendly face that always knew that a kind word and getting in and out and home to my daughter was important to me and he made sure that was always the case. Several other attendants since he changed departments have come and gone and I started to think there wasn't going to be anyone like him again that gave me the personal attention that's meant so much to me at that time of night over the past few years. That was until recently when they hired the blonde haired girl named Brandi. She is amazing and in just a short time has made me feel like I've got my own personal neighborhood Kroger's back again! She learned my name almost right away which means a lot to me. Also she remembered that I work in the service industry and keep late hours and literally asks me how my day was every night I come in. She has learned the things I typically buy and has TWICE reminded me of items I had forgotten to grab and would have been so frustrated had I gotten home and realized it. She did it again tonight and it was medicine for my daughter so It was super important. I told her how thankful I was I I had to stop in the car before leaving the parking lot to leave a review because I kept thinking how special treatment for a customer like she has given me really is. It makes me feel special and she's so thoughtful to remember these things. I'm not sure if she goes that above and beyond for all her customers but I'm guessing she does because I hear her address many of her customers in the evening hours that I shop by name and with personal and thoughtful conversation. You guys did a GREAT thing hiring her for that shift because she is AMAZING. Remembering my daughters medicine tonight that I almost forgot and asking me how my day at work was shows that she isn't just working a job but that she's taking great pride in everything she does and I've got my neighborhood Kroger back again! Since the manager or whoever had the brilliant idea to change Marlon to another section instead of having him in the kitchen cooking chicken, turkey legs,etc everything the other people cook there is flavorless and nasty. I bought five Christian books from here just last week, and when I decided to read just the beginning of just the first few pages from the books to see which of 'em were good, three turned out to be better than the other! The $5 books were a whole lot better than the expensive books b/c they went in and talk about the Lord and how we should live our lives according to the Lord. The expensive books however, talked about pantyhose, and all about the church life of the other person. Each place has a good receptionist, good personality, and good social skills, but when I tried to return the books I didn't like, the woman was rude, and had a bad attitude. Instead of saying, "Can I help the next customer? or Hi, how can I help you?" She just said to me, "Why are you bringing those here? You can't return books here at the store. If you want, I can ask the manager here for you and she can talk to you about it, but we can't return books here to the store." Ha! Rude! She could've told me that in a nice and friendly manner. There are other places that I can go to return books, not just here. I can go and sell these books if I can't get my money back too. read more

I was refused service because I came to the register 5 minutes after the checkout person had left I talk to the people who were left in the store and they told me it was not their problem it was mine I told them I was going to contact the corporate office and I did so the corporate office contacted the manager Consuela this morning her only question was what time did I approached the register well it was 1:05 it took me till 1:10 to find another human being when I talk to her like I said she told me it was not her problem that I couldn't get checked out that they check out girl had to leave so she didn't get overtime wow how petty-ass is that. I do not want to talk to Consuela at this point I feel that she thinks that everyone should be evacuated from the store regardless if they have a cart full of groceries or not which I did. This is bad business on the part of Kroger and I will be forwarding this review to the corporate headquarters just so they know how this store is run the manager Consuela is so concerned that no one gets over time and probably not health insurance that is she is willing to turn customers away read more

This is my favorite grocer in this area. They always have really good deals on meats and produce. They also slash the prices on their items (even floral and non-perishables) more often and sooner than other stores. The Tom Thumb close to us used to do this, but we have not found a Tom Thumb that slashes prices on much since several of them closed. This Kroger has a beer and wine section for those that have to have it in their grocer. The staff here is some of the nicest people you'll meet at a market. My husband's parents went when they were in town this past week and said they have never been to a grocer with all of it's employees so nice. This says a lot since they are used to Air Force Bases and have lived all over the world. My only complaint is that they are at the corner of I-30 and Broadway, so traffic gets heavy sometimes. This does not hold the lines up much. They usually have enough people on staff to deal with the in-store traffic. read more

Soooo. I'm very disgusted with a lot of these reviews. I have been a customer for over 20 years at this location. I have never ever had an issue with this store. All of the employees there are so very nice and very helpful and very polite. I had an issue with clipping a digital coupon on the app and an employee pulling an order stopped and taught me how to navigate around the app. Now I'm a pro. So hats of to, I feel bad for not knowing her name, but she is a short Mexican girl. Maybe 5ft. I think maybe Pam or pat. I heard someone say Garcia to her. She is usually at the self checkout. That girl is always smiling. She always greets me when I come in. She has stopped me in the store to ask me if I'm finding everything I need. And I can't list all of the things she has helped me with. Then there is Dennis. This guy works so hard there. He is always out getting carts or bagging. Hats off to him for his dedicated service. I never ever see him just standing around. He's always busy. I did buy a brisket once and it turned out bad. I went to customer service about it and they refunded my money and apologized. So I believe if people write something negative here it's because they are already upset with something or they are just one of those people that just want to lie about stuff. Ignore all those people and go check out the store yourself. I can tell you right now you will not be disappointed. read more

I really need to report what I am seeing at the store. Evidently employees are not required to use gloves. I am no longer going to this location because of that fact. People who order for pick up or delivery are not getting a contactless transaction. Both checkers and baggers are not wearing gloves. Also many employees are not wearing their masks properly. We live in Garland, TX & close to the Kroger at 1406 Walnut St. My sister lives across the street from me. With all this virus scare--abd they are both senior citizens---she placed an order to be delivered to their home. Receipts he has said orderwas picked up at 6:45pm yesterday. My sister lives just a few blocks from the store---so an order picked up at 6:45 should have been delivered before 7pm. She never got her groceries! When she called the store this morning, the Manager told her they were not responsible---pickup orders are contracted out--their was nothing she(manager) would do for my sister. Well--Kroger your high quality customer service is a LIE!! **Whatever you do--do not use the pickup service at Kroger off Walnut in Garland, TX---they suck & have no regard for people (senior citizens) at all!** read more

This is my go to grocery store. Yes you can find lower prices at wally world but you will never have long lines that don't move and hordes of crowds here. They always open more registers if lines even begin to queue up. I have been told by others that the way the store is laid out is counter to most other stores but in my opinion it's very easy to find what your looking for here and they don't constantly move stuff around just to get you to impulse buy. If you found it on isle 3 six weeks ago it will be there now. The staff has always been helpful and nice to me. The pharmacy is the only place you will ever get any less than perfect service and I really think that is just they don't have enough staff in that one department. read more

Don't use their self-checkout unless you like being insulted. They are supposedly very sensitive, but constantly tell you to do whatever you've alredy done, then sometimes tell you to remove the very item they've just told you to bag, then hang you up until store personnel find their way to clear the machine. Today, with items still in my cart, employee reset the machine to make me pay instead of completing my checkout. On top of that, they didn't even have a common item I needed. read more

Store is nice and kept clean. The people who work there are nice and mostly helpful. I only have one complaint and that is the birds outside. I feel sometimes when visiting this store that I'm in a production of the movie "Birds" because the blackbirds and crows are so prevalent and such a nuisance! I went in one day to complain because the birds were extremely bad, all over all the cars in the parking lot and flying all around people, scaring them. I spoke to one young woman who told me she was a manager and there was nothing they could do about it because the birds were migrating (these birds do not migrate from here during the winter). I explained to her that Walmart had had this same issue and were able to do something about it but she insisted that there was nothing to be done about it. So, not very helpful on that issue. I have also called to ask a question and have been on hold for a very long time before someone came on the line that could answer my question. read more
