I have decided not to return to this store at this location going forward. I have had to use my time and gas to return 2 items. One return was over stale chips, the other frozen chicken that was spoiled (horrid smell). None of the employees that helped me with unfortunate return were really helpful as well as one manager that honestly had no interest with my returns and/or disappointment. There are roaches throughout the store as well as rude employees, high prices and never, ever, never enough check-out lines open. At this point, I don't have anything positive to say about this store. I would like to mention also that the SERVICE DESK was "roped off" and closed, as it usual is! Does anyone blame me for complaining here? I would think I would be positively rewarded for not filing multiple complaints instead of this single complaint. I really like this Kroger. It's super close to my residence, but besides that, it's always super clean, and staff are friendly and helpful. Yes, it does get crowded from 5-7PM, but if you're in a rush and can't wait, use the express lanes since those move rather quickly. With regards to safety: it's located near downtown in a big city. You can't control that sort of thing. The store does a good job of having security patrol the parking lot. No complaints from me (single, white female shopping alone). Also, there is a drive-thru pharmacy. Super convenient when needing to drop off a prescription. read more

Don't go here! Constantly having to check expiration dates on items, and never ever have shopping carts available. Employees are too busy walking around texting on their phones instead of going and gathering carts. When I asked an employee at the register why my chicken wouldn't ring up...his response was "you'll have to go see if we have anymore" this place is pitiful! read more

Specifically for the pharmacy, worst experience every time I come to get my medications. They either stare at you from across the office and avoid helping you as long as humanly possible, or they have the worst attitude when they do approach you. They only keep your prescription for 14 days but if you pick it up too early then they tell you that you can't get it yet... weirdest rule that makes it very hit or miss. I have been so busy with odd hours at work and the pharmacy's odd hours that I finally got to come in and pick it up and the woman told me I was too late and had to wait until the end of the day to do so and then made a comment about me showing up on time next time... not appropriate at all. We all have busy lives and schedules... a simple "we'll see you later" would suffice. read more

Worst grocery shopping experience I have ever had. Place was filthy and full of bums that would follow you to and from your car asking for money and getting aggressive about it. Legitimately felt unsafe. The lines were backed up due to homeless people standing in the self checkout line and begging for money to pay for their groceries. People finally caved in and gave them money to speed up the process. All of the meat was discolored and looked atrocious. The place needs to shut down. read more

I'm so angry about the off-duty officers being hired to work at this location. They refuse to wear a mask (at least 3 different officers) and if I ask them to put one on they have a nasty attitude about their 'freedom'! Enough! This is my go-to Kroger only because it is 3 minutes from me. I hate that the fruit ALWAYS looks old but the veggies seem okay. I wish they had more gluten free options other than a corner of an aisle. I also don't like how they are pushing toward more self checkout lanes (which takes jobs away from people) and have become like a Walmart when it comes to having 1-2 lanes open at a time no matter how crowded it is. read more

I really enjoyed this Kroger when I lived in this area a few years ago. However, after moving back to this area at the end of 2020 and revisiting this store several times, I must say I am very underwhelmed. This store doesn't seem to operate the same way it did 3-4 years ago. The produce selection is sparse and has been subpar in quality in many of my visits. I assume the pandemic may partially play a role in this. The fresh seafood/meat department is hit or miss in terms of customer service. There are certain items that they never seem to have in stock although another Kroger nearby doesn't seem to have any issues with stocking. Yet, these are all issues I can live with as I prefer the layout of this Kroger over other Kroger nearby. What I cannot live with is the fact that they have essentially eliminated the cashier position. Instead of standing in line to be checked out by an employee as I would at any other grocery store, I stand in line to check myself out at a self-checkout station. While this is perfectly fine for the occasional run-in to grab 3-4 items, it is aggravating to do so with a basket full of groceries. Meanwhile, one of the employees walks around to monitor/assist the customers in their process while the other employees huddle to talk or joke nearby. I'm dumbfounded as to why they thought they process would be more efficient or better serve their customers. Although I love the convenience of this Kroger due to its location and layout, we will not return unless it is for the quick run-in. read more

I shopped online at Kroger located at 3939 Frankford Rd Contact # 972-662-1000. I spoke with an employee about my online order which had lots of complications when I arrived for pick up. I attempted to speak with the employee to gain a greater understanding. In the midst of him explaining a man who I assumed and later confirmed was a manager told him to stop talking to me and help another customer. I was shocked and decided to wait to speak with the manager, Steven. Steven proceeded to tell me his employee had other customers to help. I told him I also am a customer. He talked over me and then accused me of having a negative interaction with his employee. I told him this was not true and then Steven left the conversation refusing to help me. I spoke with a supervisor over him who was apologetic but offered no real resolve. I shopped for the items I was told wasn't in stock on the online order and headed back to my car. I saw the employee who delivered my groceries and long story short he said we did not have a negative interaction and management called me a Nigger... My children were present and today we had a talk about the hard"r" and the word Nigger. read more

1st time at this Kroger store, definitely my last. This store is dirty. I did pickup, and had to throw away most food items, I'll explain why. I never post reviews, I had to let others know of this sickening experience. 1. They forgot 3 of my items and they did nothing to solve it and were actually rude/uncooperative when I told them. 2. The fruit/vegetables had black spots on them, dirty 3. The cheese had been sitting out for so long it melted and was liquid-y (no it wasn't in my car long, I live 5 minutes from the place) 4. The deli meat gave us food poisoning, we were sick for hours. 5. We had to throw out most of the food because of it not being refrigerated before pick up. Do not pick up/shop at this store, I normally use Kroger, but after this experience I know I won't be going to this store. I lost a lot of money, food, time, and actually stressed a lot because of this situation. I would post pictures, but I threw 90% of it away. This Kroger is dirty and dangerous. I have seen fights in the parking lot and seen police reports of crime. I was there at peak shopping time today and there was 1 check out line open with 8 people waiting. The self check also had 10 people waiting with 1 employee trying to correct problems at the registers. Customers with full large carts were using self check because of the lack of regular check out lines and this caused a huge wait. Every time I go to this store, I say it will be the last. I will be following through on that promise. read more

This Kroger has the worlds laziest and rudest employees. I would rather drive 30 minutes than have to deal with no carts (while the guy is outside talking to security rather than bringing in the carts)... have to completely bag my own groceries and then be asked to hurry up when my cashier moves on to the next customers items rather than help me finish bagging before moving onto the next customer.... I've also seen customers be cussed out by employees here. There is an obvious lack of management that seriously needs to be addressed. read more

Ok, so this Kroger is SURPRISINGLY good for this area! I was really dreading stepping inside because the parking lot looks like a mess, and hobos are all around the corners... but once you're inside, everything is so clean and fresh! Good job to the managers/employees here! This Kroger has everything I could possibly need, and it's in a very convenient location. I tried going to Target, which is about the same amount of drive-time, and this Kroger beats it by far. The plus is the huge grocery selection. The security is really tight here without making you feel uncomfortable. They stalk the parking lot with a vengeance but turn to greet you with a very friendly face/tone! Apparently their hours don't match what they claim. Tried to run in 10 minutes before 1am to grab one item & the security guard locked the door in our face and said no. Went to the Grand Opening yesterday and thought this is what the area needs!! Everything you can imagine, great bakery, fresh meats, abundant produce section! The CHEESE is oozing everywhere! Yes I can be a food snob, I am a yelper after all!! It seemed like more variety than the Kroger on Cedar Springs, better selections than the Tom Thumb on University. What a nice addition to the Maple Avenue scene. Catering to the gentrified neighborhood, it's common to see Medical students and residents roaming the aisles in their scrubs alongside actual residents of the Bluffview/Cedar Springs area. Also a testament to their accommodation to nearby hospital, the hours are 24/7. As a newly developed grocery store, the facility is clean and neatly organized, but my favorite aspect had to be how the sorted and categorized the international foods with the country's respective flag. The check-out process is also well designed and efficient, distinctly marking the express lanes, self-check out, and just regular lanes. I am excited there is yet another awesome Kroger to hit my hood. Especially with their amazing craft beer and wine selection. The prices speak pretty accurately to the neighborhood, unlike some other groceries that think they can spike their prices just because of their 'high-end' location. Kroger always seems to maintain a steady and consistent price no matter the location. read more

Now I get the hang of reviewing various Krogers in town! This is one of the newest in town, and it really shows on the inside! The aisles are wide and pleasantly arranged, the produce are displayed in a visually appealing manner, and the atmosphere in there is calm and high end, but prices are low (not as low as Aldis). The costumer service folks even let me get away with returning products from another Krogers and put the money back on my card. I did however run into some characters at this store, like an old asian man who waved me down and stood in my way to stare. And I saw a handful of people who looked like they just got discharged from Parkland Hospital across the street...still wearing facemasks! read more

Now that the novelty of the grand opening has worn off, I have to admit this is just an average Kroger. The staff is friendly enough (one even helped me find the perfect cut of beef for a recipe), but they aren't as proficient as the other stores'. Compared to its Cedar Springs cousin, they carry more wine, cheese, baked goods, and natural/organic products. But most sections, especially the fresh produce, are lacking compared to the store on Mockingbird & Greenville. Some of their "special" pricings for natural foods are misleadingly high, which made me cringe. Interestingly, their wines are always on sale; closer inspection reveals they're just past their peak years ... so much for grabbing a bottle en route to those dinner parties ... (sad face). I really wanted to love this Kroger because it's located in the growing Medical District where I live. Here's to hoping they'll provide more fresh, healthy options overtime! read more

Coming from the northeast I never thought I would say I have high standards for my grocery stores, but BOY, WAS I WRONG. I find that this Kroger is reasonably nice inside and the staff is more friendly than most. Especially in the produce section- they ALWAYS go out of their way to say hello and ask how your day is. Veggies are not the freshest I have seen, but usually a decent selection. DO NOT go late on a weekend, there will be nothing. The gentlemen in the meat section know their stuff which is great when you're still learning all the basics on cooking different meat. My biggest downside to Kroger- and this is a generalized statement- is that they do not have a big enough variety of choices for each product. Especially, Italian foods. Like pasta and sauces. The selection is not fabulous. Literally, the freezer section has one tiny fridge for tortellini and ravioli- not much else. I miss the endless aisles of manicotti etc. Also, the manager did not know what ziti was, literally they had one tiny brand of the most premium version. I dont wanna pay out the wazoo for ziti, thanks. The wine selection is pretty generous for a grocery store, and on weekends there is even tastings. Parking is pretty good. Only times I have ever seen it swarmed to be honest is super bowl weekend and before a storm. Otherwise, you're good to go. read more

For the second time in the last month, my pickup order has been canceled an hour before pickup time. The first time this happened, I was told that they didn't have enough staff to fulfill the order. The second time there was no explanation. I won't be giving them a third chance to cancel my order. There are too many grocery stores in Dallas to put up with this kind of horrible service. Great cashier's at the be registers know how to do the tax exempt paperwork for my work purchases. This store has what must be the largest ice cream selection in Dallas. There is a mini aisle near produce, and then another GIANT aisle that's filled with cases teeming with all kinds of ice cream delights. Sugar free, gelato, low fat, churned, giant vats, tiny tubs - they have it all. The produce selection looked pretty good, and the store is super clean and new. I really like this Kroger. I think it's honestly because I lived right next to it in the Cityville apartments next door, but I think if I start working at UTSW, I'll do 85% of my shopping here. Firstly, their sales are actually on items you would want to buy. $1.50/lb cherries? Half gallon of organic soy milk for $3? $10/10 single-serve greek yogurt? Loved it. The supermarket is well laid out, and has a great variety of items, as well as Kroger-branded foods that I also enjoyed. The Kroger toilet paper, Honey Bunches of Oats ripoff, and their thin-sliced Colby jack cheese have all been excellent. Their staff is mostly friendly and helpful, and I don't think I've ever had any bad experiences here. In summary, clean, has everything you would want, has decent sales, and has a good sized parking lot that it doesn't share with any other stores. It's definitely close to 5-stars but I tend to reserve that for stores like Costco which go above and beyond what you would expect from a supermarket. read more

Due to the close proximity to my apartment, and that it is in my route from work to home, I visit this Kroger probably 3-4 times per week. Since moving to the Medical District, this has been my go-to for groceries and other necessities. While the parking lot is odd and not easy to navigate, I'm impressed with most aspects of this Kroger. It's fairly new, so it's modern and up-to-date. It's always clean, and the shelves are always fully stocked. One of my biggest pet peeves while grocery shopping is the unfortunate and anticipated long lines at check-out. While I normally only have "15 items or less," I have generally been impressed with the speed of getting in and out with what I need. They offer a Kroger Reward Card (with a downloadable app) that I suggest you use. I get up to $0.40 off per gallon of gas at Shell or Kroger's with gas stations. read more

Made two appts to get The COVID vaccines at this Kroger online. Got the email confirmations. Showed up to get our shots and was told they had been out of vaccines for a week. There is no excuse continuing to make appointments when they know there is no vaccine. This is to serious an issue to be playing games. read more

I just happened to be driving by today, dropping off a friend, and I noticed a ton of people massing out in front of the "Opening in 1 day" Kroger on Maple, so I decided to pull in and see what the heck was going on. I wandered in and was greeted with RIDICULOUSLY enthusiastic hordes of greeters, servers and sampler-giver people, plying me with basically every fare Kroger has to offer. This wasn't your standard "Sliver of a pre-made sandwich" or "Milligram of salsa smeared lightly over the corner of a chip" type of sampling either. I was literally stuffed after I was jam packed full of slices of cake, corn pop things smeared with nutella, cake balls, whole salmon cakes, whole hamburgers, etc... At the cheese table there was a guy from Holland explaining everything there is to know about cheesemaking. Gotta say Kroger, you annihilated my expectations. As to the actual store, it's a nice clean Kroger, larger than their Oak Lawn location with a few more aisles and tricks up their sleeve. They have a fresh orange juicer, on of those magic pop machines Central Market has, an expanded organic and "ethnic foods" aisle, and from what I saw a slightly better selection in the produce, deli and frozen foods departments. Otherwise it's a classic Kroger, in a great location for people working of living in the Medical District. ***Perfect Situation***: Stopping in for a rotisserie chicken and some potato salad after working an ICU shift at Parkland. Expect tons of people in scrubs milling the aisles in the very near future. read more

This Kroger is great!!! It's very big and has a lot of items. I walked in amazed at the selections and the produce section was great too. Very huge and the quality was great. I didn't even see any spoiled items on the self like at Walmart and there were employees around making sure to keep things stocked and neat for us customers. Very helpful and even asked if I needed anything. They even have an organic section too! I walked down the bread aisle and saw all of the little Debbie cakes and hostess selection. HUGE mistake lol. Kroger is a lot pricer than Walmart but their selections and produce is way worth the extra money. I knocked it off one star because to me they didn't have enough registers there but I didn't see any long lines and I can't remember if they have a self check out. DO NOT CHOOSE THE PICK UP OPTION FROM THIS LOCATION. The employees are extremely slow, unprofessional and the service was terrible. My pickup time was for 8PM, which was initially changed. I waited an hour to receive my groceries. Instead of having the order ready ahead of time, they were actually shopping for my order. I could have went into the store and picked up what I needed faster than the employees. Plus, most of the items listed on the website are out of stock. If an item is not in stock, then don't list it online. When the person gave me the receipt, she didn't tell me most of the items were not in stock. My total order was $145, with 11 items missing. Next time, I'll just stick with Sprouts or Target, I can run in and out and get my groceries quicker with better customer service. read more
