Let me first say that almost all of the food was EXCELLENT! It was well-prepared from scratch with good quality ingredients. The service, on the other hand, was far from even mediocre. Krista's was very busy when we showed up so when the hostess said it would be 45 minutes before our party of 5 was seated, I could totally understand. And, in truth, it's Cornish ... There were no other breakfast places within 30 minutes anyway so where were we gonna go?? We were seated within 40 minutes and, after about 15 minutes of sitting at the table, someone finally came over to take our beverage order. When we were waiting we saw these delectable looking cheddar biscuits and pecan rolls so we ordered one of each to split. Perhaps that was a mistake ... We finally saw the biscuit, roll, and our beverages about 20 minutes later. Our main breakfast dishes came out relatively quickly after that and everything was excellent (except the corned beef hash: it's home fries that are perhaps cooked NEXT TO corned beef?! We got two orders of it at the table and neither had even a hint of corned beef!) but we did not see our waitress again until we were finished eating for about 15 minutes. Now, let me make mention that while we ate, approximately 75% of the tables in the restaurant were empty while the line outside continued to grow longer and longer. Three out of five of us at the table either cook in or wait tables in a restaurant so we understand busy days in a well-run restaurant. The front of the house is NOT well-run and needs help. It is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food (in huge portions too - everyone took food home) but most people, including us, do not go to breakfast expecting a 3-hour bad service experience. And, honestly, who takes breakfast home?? Nobody. Even if the food is delicious and well-prepared. I say go for the food. But do not expect good quality service. 4.5 stars for food, 1 star for service. I have faith that everything will get sorted out and this place will get a 5-star review from me the next time I visit! read more

I went to Krista's for the first time while on a motorcycle ride through the area about a month ago. I had the BBQ Roast Beef wrap and I'm still thinking about it. It was tender, juicy and the BBQ sauce was the perfect balance of sweet, tangy and spicy. It was too big to eat at one sitting so I brought it home and had the rest for lunch the next day. It was still the best BBQ Roast Beef sandwich I have ever had. If you have the opportunity, you must stop in. I can't wait for my second visit! read more

Coming from out of state we have found this restaurant to be the best, both in service and food. It tops restaurants we frequent in CT as well. We eat here every weekend we come up. Can't get out fill!!! read more

Excellent breakfast! The location is a bit out of the way if you do not live in Western ME, but the drive is beautiful and worth it for the delicious food! My boyfriend ordered a standard breakfast and enjoyed it. I ordered a Nutella stuffed French toast. While the French toast is not actually stuffed, Krista's does not skimp on Nutella like most places do. Their whipped cream was surprisingly fresh. The prices were fair and the atmosphere of the restaurant is quaint and whimsy. Overall, I would definitely come here again for breakfast if I'm in the area. read more

I LOVE Krista's! We live in Limington and there really aren't that many options for tasty, interesting restaurants in the area - we're so lucky to have Krista's nearby! The restaurant is comfortable and simple and cute, menu is ample, lots of sandwiches and HUGE salads, and a great selection of drinks, including local Maine Root sodas and interesting, local microbrews. Every single thing I've tried there has been GREAT, and the servings are always huge. Some of my favorites are the side of "smasher cakes" mashed potato cakes at breakfast, the enormous chef's salad, the pulled pork sandwich, portobello sandwich, bbq steak and cheese wrap, basically everything. Sweet potato fries are excellent. The prices aren't super expensive, nor super cheap - but it's a great deal considering that I always have enough leftovers for a second meal. The tables on the back screen porch, over the waterfall, are obviously the best spot to sit! I can't think of one single thing I would improve about Krista's, except I would prefer if it was next door to my house (or maybe inside my house?). Yes - I am a big corned beef hash fan and I measure a restaurant by the quality of the corned beef hash. I must be homemade and distinctive. You get extra credit for peas and carrots, and beets. Krista's is OK, not the best, but acceptable. The thing missing is the caramelization of the hash. All of the hash that I call exceptional has been pan fried to achieve a bit of a char. Not so with Krista's. Good flavor but mushy. Hash needs that complexity of flavor (Krista's has that) and a bit of crispy (missing). I plan on going back to try a lunch or dinner as the menu looked like it needed exploring. Many delectable delights that needed vetting, but the hash was so-so. read more

Started going to Krista s a couple of years ago. Always have a wonderful meal, but the last few times the food was not up to the standard we expected. I don't know what has changed, maybe there's a new chef. This last time we ordered the big bowl of chips and the chips tasted burnt. We tried to send them back but was told that it was the kind of potatoes they were using. I don't believe that, they were most likely left out to long before frying or the oil was to old or burnt. Main dish was good. Had the pulled pork, good and juicy, last time it was dry and probably left over from day before. Dad ordered the cremburlee and as he was eating it he found mold it the dish under the custard. The wait staff was as good as always but I was put off that no management came out to the table to handle are complaints. The waitress did say they were sorry and didn't charge for the desert and a glass of wine. It just seems to me that for the prices that they are charging the food lately is not up to snuff. read more

One of our absolute favorite places to eat, breakfast, lunch or dinner...breakfast being my fav! Ive lost count of how often we frequent. Kristas has their own unique twist to any dish they create. French Toast, smasher cakes (you have to try these!), special homemade muffins (I never have room for this but always feel the need to get one to go to enjoy with my coffee the next day!), gorgeous omelets and fresh corn beef hash as youve never had it (I did say breakfast is my favorite!). In addition to an incredible menu, Kristas offers excellent service, smiles & friendliness is the norm! a lovely decor & atmosphere, including outside seating (we were ecstatic with this edition) weather permitting and an enclosed porch with fun lighting. Lots of windows bring in the pretty little town and running brook. Bathrooms are always clean and decorated in a fun way. We tell EVERYONE they must be sure to go to Kristas! Hit it up in September during the apple festival as well as the Apple orchard just up the road. read more

The atmosphere and menu makes you want to come back often. the menu has options that one doesn't see in many restaurants. Each meal is prepared and presented as if you are the only Peterson in the restaurant. The staff is knowledgable and caring, yet don't hang over you. Their pear martini is incredibly delicious. The sounds of the creek that we could hear from our seats on the back porch just added to the great vibe you get when you come in the front door. But when all that is complimented by an AMAZING breakfast, friendly staff who do their job with ease, and prices that won't break the bank, we were all won over. The staff were all great, particularly Amanda, our main server, who handled our large group's orders (3 families, 15 adults & kids total) with a smile and got them right! And the food - where do I begin? Griddle Cakes (as big as a man's hand but cooked through) to the Special Scramble to the Deluxe Home Fries to the mounds of whipped cream on the kids' hot chocolates - everything was delicious. Even the one item that can make or break a breakfast place in my eyes - the coffee - was hot, not too strong, not too weak, and refilled as often as needed. For the amount and quality of the food and the service, prices were well within range. Definitely going back, definitely would recommend it. read more

My sister & I had breakfast here this weekend. As my first time eating at Krista's, I was surprised that we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table since it was peak breakfast time. Unfortunately the hostess who seemed like a seasoned veteran of the industry was extremely agitated. Maybe she had a rough morning, but please don't take it out on innocent patrons. She was very short with myself & others who were waiting in line to be seated. She actually ended up hanging up on a person who called asking for reservations. Luckily our super friendly waiter & DELICIOUS breakfast made up for her rude attitude. My sister did (strangely) have to wait 20 minutes for her iced coffee that turned out to be sitting at the end of the bar the entire time & the server who brought us drinks had forgotten about. As we left, the hostess seemed to have chilled out a bit & wished us a great day. Had she not rubbed me the wrong way first thing, a deserving 5 stars would have been given. read more

Well the food was good but I am not impressed by large portions. what made the place a downer was the poor service. We were told on the phone it was serving lunch. When we sat down and went to order the waitresses said no lunch available only breakfast. Took forever to get drinks and later in the meal We had to frantically wave to get water and coffee refills and no one bothered clearing the table as we went through a couple of courses I would say it was enthusiastic but incompetent service. Nice Ambience, nice Creek View but it's the service that makes or breaks a restaurant. And the poor service indicated a poor management style. Kristas has the BEST breakfast around, everything is amazing. I particularly love the corned beef hash, loaded home fries, and toast, the homemade bread is amazing! Never been for lunch but I have been for dinner a few times. The pistachio crusted haddock was fantastic, the prime rib also and the rachel sandwich was the best reuben style sandwich I've ever had. We have been to Krista's many times since it's opening, mostly because decent restaurants are hard to find in this area. Starting about 5-6 years ago, we experienced our first subpar breakfast so have been back a couple of times since. Recent breakfast was completely disappointing...the (formerly wonderful) hash was 95% chunks of potato with almost no taste at all. Last time I ordered it (many years ago) it was equally disappointing but I was hoping that has been an anomaly. Our table ordered the last of the morning's supply so we did anyone else who wanted it a huge favor. I truly wondered if they threw a few boiled diced potatoes in to stretch what they had left to fulfill the 4 we ordered. Not ok. Portions are enormous which might be good if the leftovers were worth taking. The atmosphere IS very pleasant, the decor is cool and very well done. Lunch has generally been better, as is dinner, though a little pricey to justify other than very occasionally. All in all, I left scratching my head at the continued success of this place and 100% regretting a $67+ bill for 5 (and, no, we did not have the $10 mimosas). read more
