    Hand-Breaded Chicken
    Elena N.

3.5 STARS Date: Wednesday, April 2, 2025 Time: around 5:30pm Meal: Dinner *Hand-Breaded Chicken *Fries *Mashed Potatoes & Gravy *Honey Biscuits The bro in law was trying to get chicken from a new spot that just opened up. Turns out it was a zoo, so he settled for Krispy Krunchy Chicken. I've had it before and enjoyed it. I like the crispy breading. But the bro in law wasn't that impressed with KKC. He'd rather have chicken from a spot where you swap the middle K for an F. The chicken was good. Not quite as crispy and flavorful as I remember, but would fulfill a craving. I tried the biscuits. Waaay too sweet for me. But anyone that like cornbread or a mix of sweet and savory might enjoy this. Or make it into a dessert and top it with ice cream and / or whipped cream? I didn't try the mashed or fries, but they looked fine. Gas station chicken. Pretty good for what it is. REVIEW #3751

I've grabbed fried chicken from a different location of Krispy Krunchy Chicken, but this was my first time visiting the location on San Felipe at Aborn. I ordered a 3 piece with biscuit and almost bought their special for 5 wings, but those were smaller, sauced wings, not the whole-sized wings. I ended up buying 2 whole wings in addition to my 3 pieces. As I remember from the other location, the crust was as the namesake described, crispy. It also had a slight kick of spiciness. I'm a wimp with delicate taste buds. ha ha! If you're in the area, don't let the fact that Krispy Krunchy Chicken is sold inside a gas station. It's worth buying. Try it!

Let me start me start by saying that these potato wedges were so crunchy and delicious. They weren't no skinny wedges either they were perfect. The chicken was so crunchy and soft in the inside. I would've just preferred the chicken to have seasoning but it was spicy.

Mashed potato: 3.5/5. It's not hot. You can eat right right away. Taste is ok. I can do without. Mixed pieces: 4/5. Cajun rocks! It's much tastier than Popeyes and KFC! The 8 piece mixed has 2 wings, 2 drums, 2 small breasts, and 2 big breasts.

Did I ever in my life think that I would crave fried chicken from a gas station? No, but here I am craving it as a write this review. I came across this place while driving by, and immediately judged it. Ew, gas station chicken, but I was oh so very wrong. My fellow Yelpers highly rated this place so I said ok, no one died, lemme try it out. It took a while cuz they made freshly fried chicken. It was still piping hot when I got it home. And soooo crunchy! The wedges were not great, the Mac & cheese were decent. But that fried goodness-get in my belly!

I was a little thrown off that this place was inside the gas station convenience store, but we ordered the 12 piece dark chicken and it was pretty good! It was seasoned well, very crispy, and even had a little bit of spice to it. I kind of wish the fries were actually fries instead of potato wedgies. The honey butter biscuits were also better than I expected. I thought the prices were pretty good for the chicken and spices compared to other chicken places. I knocked off a star because I wished they gave free sauces like other places do (at least ketchup/hot sauce). Also because the guy doing our order didn't have his mask on all the way and it made me feel a little weird about him getting our food. I can get over it but I know other people who are more cautious won't let that slide.

2023 prices. Every year prices go up a couple of bucks.

KKC is pretty good fried chix, especially for chix sold out of a gas station. When you get it from this particular location, its always fresh & hot, with an ultra crisp crust, & juicy & tender interior. Service is sooo friendly, polite & quick. The negatives are that its quite salty - a lot of reviewers seem to think that the chicken is seasoned perfectly (are they referring only to the spices but excluding the salt?), but the salt level really gets to me. Its certainly saltier to me than KFC, Popeyes or Jollibee. Pro-tip - get the chix breast over dark or wings so there's a better ratio of super salty batter to meat. Also, enjoy it with a side of rice or potatoes to temper that saltiness & you should be ok!

This location of Krispy Krunchy Chicken recently opened up and its sign piqued my interest since it's right at an intersection stoplight. A family meal of 12 pieces of mixed chicken, 6 piece chicken tenders, fries, and blueberry muffins came out to be roughly $28. Not a bad deal at all! The chicken pieces are large and full of crunch as well as flavor. The chicken is Cajun style - which I guess unfortunately is a bit too spicy for me personally. When biting into the chicken (both tenders and bone-in) you can see streaks of spice. I couldn't really tell if those streaks are hot sauce or Cayenne powder, but that stuff sure tingled my mouth. The rest of my family enjoyed the meal though without issues. If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty spicy-sensitive ;( If you like Cajun, you'll probably like the food. Anyway, the steak cut wedge fries are thick and well-seasoned. They pair perfectly with the honey mustard sauce. Overall, the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I was definitely a bit nervous after reading someone's review of finding a worm in their food, but didn't see anything creepy crawly in our order fortunately. Hopefully healthy and safe food quality is consistent here!

Chicken, red beans & rice, biscuits and potato wedges were all great. Wonderful flavor! Will absolutely be going again.

It's so unique and addicting with a perfect sweetness to it that isn't overwhelming with a slight creaminess and not as savory as most other seafood boils. I have no problem sucking the claw meat out where as other restaurants I have to dig inside the claw to pull out the meat. Soooo good and I visit as often as I can. Friendly service. The downside was the wait time for crab new was pretty long, which was frustrating. I was greeted by a really nice young guy (didn't get his name) who handed me a menu to look at. I combed over the menu and decided to order shrimp and added corn, potato, and side of steamed rice. You're able to choose from a variety of sauces and can choose your own spice level. I decided to go with their house sauce which i felt was a fusion of Cajun and garlic butter sauce; with a medium spice level. I do want to add the shrimp doesn't have a set price. The price is dependent on the Market price which turned out to be 15.99 for a pound of shrimp. You don't get to choose headless, the shrimp comes in its full form; which is fine by me. But I know some people prefer shrimp without the head on. I'd like to add this place has very reasonable prices for their boils; compared to a lot of their competitors Ie. Boiling crab. The boil it's self was a 4/5 with the house sauce and all the added sides. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and wasn't overcooked. Service: 5/5 The young guy with glasses who served me was very kind and attentive. Overall I give this place a 5/5 I will definitely be returning.

The servers can be extremely rude and for no reason, but I try to be tolerable and understanding. It's no wonder there is such high turnover because I never see the same service staff twice. Anyway, I think these guys recently had a change in ownership because the food tastes better than what I can remember. During our most recent visit, our party of 3 ordered an entire spread of crawfish, clams, shrimp, garlic noodles, raw oysters, fries, etc. and just went in. You can elect for your choice for sauce, and spice level -- and add any preferred extras like corn, sausages, and potatoes. The sauce and flavors have drastically improved compared to previous dine in experiences. This would be a good choice for a Cajun crawfish and seafood boil treat, but I can't stand on the service you'll receive -- hit or miss. Bonus: bring your own seafood dipping sauce. My girl made a spicy tamarind sauce perfect for seafood and I took a bottle with me for dipping.

One reason is that I don't live in the San Jose area anymore, and another is that there are now so many seafood boil spots around since Boiling Crab really started the trend. One positive right away: there was no long wait. We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately, which was great. I remember the days when we'd have to put our name down and walk around Target while waiting for our table. I do wish they offered combo bags like a lot of other seafood boil places do now, since that's always a hit. Instead, we ordered 3 pounds of shrimp with whole-sha-bang sauce in mild. The shrimp themselves were great--nice and big, not the tiny peanut-sized ones you sometimes get. The flavor was also really good. However, the "mild" tasted much spicier than I remembered. From past visits, mild always had a small kick but was still pretty manageable. This honestly tasted closer to medium. My boyfriend politely asked one of the servers if he could get a small side of garlic butter because the sauce was spicier than expected. She immediately responded that it would be $5 for extra sauce, and the way it was said came off pretty rude. We understand that there's an option to make the bag "extra saucy" for an additional charge, but he wasn't asking for extra sauce for the whole bag--just a small side to balance out the spice. Even a simple response like "I'm sorry it came out spicier than expected" would have gone a long way. I've worked in customer service for over 15 years, and I've always believed in "kill them with kindness." We weren't rude at all--we just mentioned that it seemed spicier than mild. In the end, we decided to just skip the extra sauce. Again, the flavor was still good, but to me this definitely tasted more like medium. When we got our check, a different server asked how everything was. My boyfriend mentioned that the sauce was spicier than mild, and she responded with, "Oh no, I'm sorry it wasn't exactly what you wanted." We told her it wasn't her fault since we had already mentioned it earlier, and she just gave us a sympathetic look. Overall, the food itself was good, and I'd probably give it a 4 for taste, but the lack of customer service knocked the experience down for me. I understand it was later in the evening and they still had a full lobby, but a little kindness and attentiveness would have made a big difference.
