Yum yum! I'm in lockstep with the other folks who've reviewed this place. Great affordable Indian food in the heart of Oxford. You wouldn't expect it - I didn't - but I've been here 3 times now and it's been spot on delicious each time. I've only ever been here for lunch so bear that in mind. There's always plenty of seating and good service. They have a varied menu that runs the gamut so you're sure to find something you like, and there are like 5 different types of nan. One of the few times Jules and I managed to tear ourselves away from the goings-on at AcadeCon this November, we elected to swing by Krishna for a filling Indian meal (and some food that wasn't from the Hueston Woods Lodge Trailblazer Dining Room). Krishna is just off of the Miami of Ohio campus and it certainly caters to the college crowd. The restaurant itself is fairly sparse and employed several of the college students who, in between checking on customers, chatted about classes and the like. Not a big deal, there--it does with the territory, I suppose. I could have done with a somewhat more attractive interior, but there are certainly worse things in restaurants. Things were clean and tidy, which was a plus. However, Krishna definitely seems to be much more of a "take-away" sort of joint than a sit down restaurant. A long counter opens onto the dining room proper from the kitchen and in order to get to the restrooms, you have to walk right past a set of walk-in fridges. So, again, it's take-away...but is it good? Well, it's take-away. My lamb korma was a touch on the tough side. While the sauce itself was competently done and of a good texture, there were none of the nuts or raisins that typically feature in a dish like korma. Jules' mateer paneer looked better than mine, with tender cheese and a suitably spicy sauce. The naan we ordered was tasty and tender, soaking up the sauce with ease. Interestingly enough, I found that my lamb korma actually tasted better when I had it as leftovers. The flavors of the sauce were slightly more developed after settling and the rice had soaked up all that sauce beautifully. My leftover naan, though? Not so much. While I'm a sucker for Indian food and would be willing to give Krishna another go, were in in Oxford more often, I've just had better Indian elsewhere and would sooner try a new restaurant on our trips to Oxford rather than visiting a spot that didn't quite impress. Still, if you're really jones-ing for Indian food and you're in Oxford, Krishna's not too bad. read more

LOVE! Krishna is my go-to for comfort food in Oxford. I live back in Columbus when I am not in school and am super bummed about leaving Miami since I haven't found anything that compares at home. My favorite dish is the chicken curry (I get a 2/6 spice level which still packs a punch), with naan and raita (a creamy spiced yogurt dip with cucumbers and tomatoes) to tame the heat. The chicken pakoras (Indian style fried chicken) are also amazing and a good introduction to those just starting to eat Indian. When I am really feeling indulgent I also get their mango lassi to drink, yummmmm. I've been going since shortly after they opened in like 2010, when they still served on disposable plates. Nice to see them getting a solid customer base and making improvements, but the food has always been great. read more

I love Indian food and actually spent some time in Delhi this January. This is one of the best places to go within two hours. The food is super authentic and prepared with a lot of care. They are really good about making dietary accommodations (I'm vegetarian). The portions are enormous, but for college students it's great because we get more bang for our buck! I love that this place is so randomly situated in Oxford, Ohio because of how rural we are. The wait staff is super helpful and attentive. They also deliver pretty quickly to local addresses. My preferred dishes are saag kofta, saag paneer, malai kofta, the aloo paratha (bread) and the veggie pakoras. Honestly though, you can't go wrong. read more

Krishna is hands down the best Indian food I've ever had in America. I've long since graduated and now live 5 hours away, but I find excuses to go back to Krishna every chance I get--even if it means a several hours detour. The tikka masala is to die for. I have tried so many other restaurants, and no one makes tikka masala like Krishna. Krishna actually flavors the sauce with spices, and the pulled chicken (as opposed to cubed) is so much better--more surface area on each piece of chicken for the sauce to coat. First time I went in for dine in. The roti bread is really good. Always tastes very fresh. Rice is really fluffy and easy to eat. Not that dried up hard rice you would get at a buffet. Usually I get the chicken tikka masala. The first time I had it, it was delicious. No complaints whatsoever. The chicken was finely shredded and really tender. The sauce that it was covered in was really spicy. Just how I love it. Tried it a second time for carryout and the chicken wasn't really up to par. It wasn't as shredded as last time and was actually kind of tough. The service is pretty decent but nothing to rave about. Nothing that blew me away. The server I had did an okay job. She seemed bored though. Checked up on me once which is really I needed since I was just by myself. If you're to order from here I recommend ordering when they are dead and order for dine in. The food is AMAZING! Lamp Curry or Chicken Vindaloo are your safest and most delicious bets. Numerous choices of Nan you can get, i suggest the garlic nan. Service is great. This is not edible food and is definitely not "Indian food". The plain rice was not cooked all the way through. The chicken meat was too tough to chew. The biriyani is absolutely not Biriyani (I'm a Hyderabadi and I know my biriyani). It's basically uncooked rice mixed with a weird sauce which I have never tasted before. It had green peas and other veggies which have no place in biriyani. WAY TOO OVERPRICED!!! If you do eat here, stick to lassi and veggie apps. read more

After reading the reviews, drove 40 minutes to Oxford from Richmond, IN to try Krishna. Some of the best Indiana food we've ever had. We got the Samosa (fabulous), Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Lentil Soup. I thought the Chicken Vindaloo was amazing and liked it better than my staple of Chicken Tikka Masala. The Lentil Soup had a kick to it but the flavor was great. Prices are very reasonable. read more

Was from out of town, the restaurant selection seems very limited in this town. This place had a good star review. With that being said, maybe this is the best option, as I don't agree with the star rating. The food didn't taste authentic, our waiter said about 5 words to us, and some of the kitchen staff were eating out in the dining area together at a table, giving my girlfriend a little more attention than she felt comfortable with. On my last night in Oxford, Ohio, my boyfriend and I decided to go Indian. With Darbar having closed and Taj Mahal an unimaginable distance across town, we settled on Krishna. We ordered naan, sag paneer and two orders of dal. The sag paneer was heavenly, with an unusual orange-y tint. The naan was decent. But the dal soup was strangely flavorless. When I've made dal, purchased Amy's in a can, or gotten it at other restaurants, the soup tends to have more flavors and spices. So other than the bland dal experience, I enjoyed the food. In addition to more vegetables in the samosas, my chief suggestion to Krishna would be to improve their inner decor and dining-in services. I had spent several days surrounded by turkey, ham cold cuts, and beef, and so I felt the urge for some Asian vegetarian food. There is not a lot of it around in this part of the world, so I went into Krishna with a feeling of gratitude. Unfortunately I left feeling a little disappointed. They offer average Indian food at fairly high prices. The best thing I had was the fresh naan, which came with the meal. The interior is a bit dingy and not very attractive. If you have been to a lot of Indian restaurants, this place probably won't make a great impression. read more

I'm giving 2 stars only because I do like the food. However, it is WAY OVER PRICED. Also with liking the food- no matter what I order it basically all tastes exactly the same and same goes with the spice levels. It's random. That all only matters if you can get them to answer the phone. Half the time when I call to order take out nobody will pick up the phone. So they probably have to over charge to compensate their lack of sales since nobody will answer the dang phone. What happened to good customer service in Oxford? I can't seem to find it anywhere. For Indian food in a college town, it's not bad. They stay true to their spice (1-6). Their dishes are okay: they have a flavorful sauce for their curries, but it's the same vase for their channa, also gobi, chicken vindaloo, etc. It's good but boring if u get 2 with the exact same taste. Also, some of their veggies are a frozen mix. Ask. Their dal soup also uses it.. Love that they deliver, however their time is AWFUL. I know it takes them a good 45 minutes, so instead of calling and waiting 45 minutes, I called 2 hours earlier and gave them an approximate time. They were still 35 minutes LATER than that, so I didn't even have to call early if I wanted it at that time. If their time wasn't do bad, I'd give them a 3.5-4. But because they're so slow, 2.5-3. They also aren't the nicest. And often make mistakes when you order something (such as adding cream when I said NO DAIRY because I can't have dairy. And they were late) read more

I ordered the Veggie Vindaloo and it was *awful*--the sauce was ok, but the veggies were literally just a bag of frozen mixed vegetables. Green beans? Lima beans? NASTY ATTITUDE! First of all Krishna's prices are outragess. Most Indian restaurants have all-you-can-eat buffets for about $10 at lunch. At Krishna there is no lunch buffet and every single item is about $14 so your bill gets astronomical. They have a really bad attitude toward their customers. Near the end of the meal we were asked to leave our table because others were waiting. VERY RUDE! I have eaten out at thousands of restaurants and I have never had this happen before. Then when the check came it was for three times the amount of my actual bill. My friend went there and got paint on his pants from their unmarked freshly painted area. They would not cover his dry cleaning-very insensitive. I won't be going back to this dive. read more

Krishna is my absolute, most favorite Indian restaurant in the area. We found it by accident when going through Oxford one time, and the food far outshines Indian I have had at other restaurants. I have never had a bad meal, and the staff are concerned about the quality of what they serve. On our most recent visit, the waitress brought out naan, and decided it was too dry/old, and took it back and got fresh naan. Who does that? Krishna does, apparently. The prices are reasonable, the kitchen is fast, and we will keep going back again and again. I really love that they can make it spicy without losing the flavor. A lot of places cannot manage to do that. If you're ever in Oxford, drop in and grab a bite. Well worth driving out of the way to take a bite. read more

Hands down, this is Oxford's best choice for Indian. You can eat in or carry out. The Indian dishes are phenomenal here. The chicken curry and chicken korma are my favorites. I love that this place has nan with coconut and raisins (kashmiri). The prices are a tad high at $10 a dish but sometimes I can get a full four meals out of one order. It is worth it. read more

SO delicious - and enough leftovers for two more meals! My mom and I went here on the recommendation of a professor after I visited a graduate program at Miami University. We split the mint naan - very soft bread, with a subtle, not-too-sweet mint flavor - and each got a meal. My saag paneer was creamy and packed full of flavor, and her malai kofta was very good, too. Their spice scale is from 0-6, which I hadn't encountered before - usually I just have to decide between mild, medium, and hot. I settled for a 2, and it still packed a punch! The waitstaff are very accommodating - I watched them very patiently try to win over a young boy at the table next to ours who was trying Indian food for the first time, bringing out multiple dishes until he settled on something that wasn't too spicy.
