We came to Beaver for my BFF's bridal shower, and Kretchmar's was at the top of the list of must-see's. Being from a completely different (ie: expensive/unaffordable) part of the country, I was uncontrollably excited to find out that you can get a dozen cookies for a completely reasonable price...UNDER $6!!!!!! Yes, that's right- 4 delicious mini Lady Locks (Lady Fingers), 4 Raisin-filled Danish, and 4 Raspberry-filled danish all for under $6. AND a discount for paying cash. It was incredible, amazing, everything I could have ever possibly dreamed of!! Ok, maybe that was a bit dramatic, but this bakery should for sure be a must-see on any trip to Beaver. Before you come at me with torches --- the baked goods are excellent. They are delicious, scrumptious and possibly the best in the tri-state area. My first birthday cake was from Kretchmar's and I drove 8 hours round trip to make sure my daughter's first birthday cake was made here. I have a Kretchmar's magnet on my refrigerator. I admit, I even have a Kretchmar's Cat's Meow on my table. The prices are GREAT and everything is made with care. Its consistently excellent. So why not 5 stars? Maybe I'm just getting older and grumpier, maybe am I notice things more or maybe the stars were not in proper alignment. But, the last few visits, the employees seemed exceptionally short and impersonal. Almost as if moving from one case to another was a burden. Little eye contact, no facial expression and monotone replies. Will I go back...of course. These are the pastries of the Gods. But this time I will just lifelessly state what I want in a robotic fashion with no expectation of the same warmth that goes into the finished product. read more

I ordered cupcakes for a birthday party and I should have taken the time to make them myself! They were bite size, not at all the size of a regular cupcake. The taste was mediocre for the price I paid. I had never ordered from there before and was disappointed. Lard alert! Attention vegetarians and Kosher conscious people! I never had a bad word to say about this bakery or the products, but I was just informed by an employee that they switched from butter to lard at some point. It's almost 2020...no lard please! This isn't 1895. read more

Fabulous bakery! Stopped finally, for the first time today (I know what the heck were we waiting for?!). Small but quaint, great little place right on the main Street in Beaver. Friendly, helpful staff. And the prices, holy cow, so cheap and worth every penny of the $7.50 we spent. They are practically giving the stuff away. I got the gigantic chocolate chunk cookie. It was the perfect combo of crunchy and chewy. And boat loads of chocolate but not overly so (if that makes any sense?). I got an iced cookie as well. Best one I have ever had! It was fresh and sweet and so good! I got the brownie and it was iced just right with the perfect number of nuts inside. The hubby got a cinnamon stick and nut claw raving about both. I've been coming here my entire life (30+ years) and it's the best bakery in Beaver County, hands down. I love their buttercream and cake--never dry and always delicious. Some of their baked goods are hit or miss, pastry fillings and decorations are standard bakery fare, nothing that sets them apart. I recommend their almond torte if you're this far north. Their prices are extremely reasonable. We live in Pittsburgh, which has an abundance of great--and even better--bakeries, that are more expensive for lesser quality. I don't drive back to BC just for Kretchmar's given the lovely bakery nearby, but if I'm back this way and need a pastry, this is my go to place! read more

If a company expects to keep its customers, I would think they would have the utmost attention to details as such. Kretchmar's is located on the main street of Beaver toward the court house. I find that it is always full. I've had an anniversary cake from there which was good. And their bakery goods are fine too. Some people live and breathe for Kretchmar's but I can take it or leave it. I will say that the staff is very friendly and the prices are excellent. read more

Truly a local treasure! Everything is amazing. I've been coming here since I was young enough to get the free cookie offered to children and I've tried many places in Pittsburgh but nothing actually beats kretchmar's! Wow, very disappointed. I have always paid extra for their products because of quality. Purchased cake for surprise 50th birthday party. The cake slide to side, looked horrible. Hoped taste would make up for appreance, not so lucky. FYI if you have problem with your product, you must save it and return it. Refund based on what you didn't use. read more

Ordered a birthday cake for my son and grandson who are coming into town this weekend. When picking up the cake I discovered it was not what I ordered. This bakery has a good reputation in the area which is why people pay their high prices. Too late to order another cake and will have to make do with this one.
