The food is cheap and they give you large portions of fries, it's amazing! However, the restaurant is a small to medium size so it can feel tight at times. Today, I visited with my boyfriend because I wanted to show him the places I visited when I was younger. Now, Im not 100% sure and don't want to point fingers, but Im pretty sure the women taking the order were hitting on him while I was standing right next to him. As they took our order, they kept giggling and glancing at each other, as well as eyeing him. When our food was ready, they sang his name in a sing song voice, which in the two years of going here never happened anytime I ordered food. Usually the service here is very friendly and professional, however I was not so sure this time, and if they were hitting on him (which I hope is not true), I find it extremely disrespectful, especially while I was standing right in front of them. I do not hold any grudges against these ladies, they seemed to be in high school and I understand that at that age I was acting immature as well. It just was frustrating having to watch it all go down and quite honestly disrespectful. Other than that, I have had no bad experiences. If you have an attractive partner maybe be on your heels a little bit, but the food here is pretty good for the price!! I would have given this place a higher rating if it weren't for that incident.

We typically always order the New York style hot dogs - mustard, onions, chili, and pickles. The potato salad which reminds me of my mother's. They do have other options for lunch and breakfast. My best comparison is that it tasted like a hotdog you'd get at the concession stand at a high school football game. The hotdog looked and tasted like a standard Oscar Meyer, the bun like Wonderbread, there was almost no chili on it. They truly made no effort to make it taste good. My wife got a Chicago dog. I'm not sure any part of it resembled a true Chicago dog. The fries were McDonald's style, They were OK but not quite as good as McDonalds. My wife asked for cheese on hers. They slapped a piece of American cheese over top the fries. That's a first for me. The only good part of the experience came at the end. We were waiting for our check (no one told us you have to go up front) when a younger waitress came over and was very friendly, as was the owner who was there at the counter. The bill came in at an affordable price too. I don't enjoy giving such poor reviews, but I don't think it matters here. These guys obviously have a loyal, regular clientele. They cater to them and not intruders like us.

The restaurant is fairly dated but that gives it some charm. The parking lot and access is fairly crammed in a the commerical area of Cranberry. We were hungry and went a little overboard with our order. We tried the hot dogs, burgers, fries, pastachilli and drinks. We sat at the counter and our waitress was awesome, a typical character - which is what I love about the Pittsburgh area. She stayed on us throughout our experience and helped us through the unknown as most people here looked like seasoned vets. I really enjoyed the burger, the fresh cut fries and their chilli sauce. The burger patty was thin and similar to smash burgers. My wife raved about the pastachilli which was just fusilli pasta smothered in their chilli sauce. Soda even came in souvenir plastic drink cups which we happily took. Even better -- our bill for 3 was $35 plus tip. We left more than full and had a great trip. If you like hot dog joints then you can't miss this one.

When you walk in, you are greeted by one of John's family. According to Nicki, John's daughter, "there are lots of us!"you know that they are a family, because they treat you like family. With old pictures on the wall of special memories and even one of John with Steve Harvey! You can tell that there is love in what they make here. They are gearing towards all farm to table, featuring all of their fresh meats by @meatguyzpa, and you can tell the difference in everything we tried. I loved everything I ate here. Somehow their chili sauce sticks to the fries, and the cheese turns to cheesy goodness in front of you and makes a beautiful dish. The small portion was the size of my head! Their dogs are snappy, burgers have tons of toppings (I'm totally making a chili cheese burger the next time I go) and their chicken cutlet sandwich is off the charts! We also got their new gyros to go; and they were great even 15 minutes later when we got home. Loaded with meat and fillings, you can feel Greek heritage in this one. Happy Eating!

I wouldn't say it was hot though. The burger I ordered was thin which for the price makes sense. I actually like thin burgers so it didn't bother me in the least. We also ordered chili and cheese fries (we did work out prior to dinner hoping to balance!). The cheese was velveta slices and the fries are on the thicker side so I prefer New Brighton Hot Dog Shoppes chili and cheese fries. They are cash only so be prepared to visit the cash machine near by.
