This is an interesting space to visit. Bring earplugs! I got the impression that this place is rode-hard, and put away wet. It seems that they could do so much more with the space - so that you don't have to walk through a labyrinth, and trip down hidden steps to enter. The music was honestly too loud - maybe I have sensitive ears - but the mid-high range on the speakers was making me wince. They at least had earplugs for purchase. The earplugs actually made it easier to communicate - but we still found ourselves yelling at each other and the bartender. The service was a bit slow - and the drinks were really weak. This cozy, quirky bar and club in a basement underneath Re-Bar (I was told it was formerly a milk factory or something) was a pleasant surprise. I came to listen to a friend who was DJing and had known about the location in the basement, but had never been. The decor was interesting, and with surprisingly lots of intimate seating options if you didn't want to be too close to the dance floor. The bar was well laid out next to the dance floor as well. They also had a covered smoking section outside (which is really nice in the winter) or if you want some fresh air, have a conversation away from the music, or to cool down from dancing. It looks like their was plenty of parking too, which is rare downtown. As expected, drinks were rather expensive so either car-bar it, or bring enough cash for the night if you plan to drink a lot. read more

Love it! Kremwerks is a dark little bar with a bit a sultry industrial style. I love that the dance floor isn't huge and that there's plenty of fun seating areas (feels a bit like VIP or what they like to call "VIP" in some large clubs on a smaller scale with no VIP charges). The space draws an alternative, gay friendly, and underground crowd type. I have been to Kremwerks now about a dozen times and have seen quite a few different themed nights (Techno, Industrial, House, etc.) the music works well with the space, since it's so dark inside. I like dark dance floors. Well I really like the small vibe of the space with the fun deck above it's what I look for in a Seattle bar / dance-club, a space not overrun with 21 year-olds (no offence) nor the typical nightclub goer duches and duchetts. After waiting 45 minutes in line being pushed and shoved. I find the security to let people in slipping them a $100 bill to avoid being waived by the metal detector (flag raised - I'm already feeling uncomfortable). Then waiting in another line to pay almost $30 to get in, I have rude employees push past me while I wait in line for the bathroom telling me they have more important things to do. I'm not sure if basement chic is a category on Yelp, but I'm all for signing a petition to make Kremwerk the best basement bar in Seattle. Fun, crowded, but never claustrophobic, Kremwerk has wonderful bartenders, hosts, and relatively cheap drinks -- at 6$ for a well-vodka. Like any nightclub the quality of the night depends on whose playing and the vibe of the crowd. With multiple options for stages and vibe kremwerk has you covered. The staff does everything they can to ensure you're having a good and safe time. Drinks are getting up there but they gotta keep the doors open and it's just on par with everywhere else. Just so you believe what everyone else has said: I'll confirm it's true, Kremwerks is just a different vibe. Very welcoming, warm staff, and it draws good people. Most people are super friendly, you walk out of there having acquainted yourself with a handful of lovely people. My first visit was to see Great Dane and every dj that night was amazing so now I'm always on the lookout for more of the same. They also have nights that go on until the next morning! I have been to Kremwerk several times now and I have always enjoyed my time there. On one occasion I attended an evening event to support one of my new favorite and upcoming DJs, Jimi Jaxon. Although the space is located at sub-level, the space is completely unique to anything else I have witnessed in Seattle. There are several areas you can sit down at to have a chat with your friends, drink in hand. The lighting can be bit dim in certain areas though. The one very unique thing I observed at this venue is how relaxed and approachable most of the patrons were. There were more than a handful of people on the dance floor letting their inhibitions down and doing their own thing. No one was there to criticize or make a mockery of anyone else. It was so chill. This space was made for those people who just need to dance to their own rhythm. As for the bar staff, they are all very awesome, friendly, and great at mixing/pouring your favorites. The wait in line was also not very long to be attended to by the staff. (Of course, on this particular day it was a Thursday evening event.) I would agree with some other reviews - that the further along Kremwerk evolves and establishes itself as a primer nightlife spot, drinks and/or cover charges should be priced decently to reflect the trends. I look forward to more nights out at Kremwerk with new and upcoming DJs and those known around the world who will grace Seattle with their musical mixing talents. read more

Bouncer at 10:20PM tonight, deemed my real New Hampshire ID as 'fake,' refused to hear otherwise, and aggressively informed me that I was trespassing on private property. I dropped $5 on a $4 can of pbr ( plus $7 on cover) and when I was in the men's room they cleared the empty beers and my full pbr from our table. I brought this up to the bartender and she was unapologetic. It was my first beer. I wasn't foggy nor rude. She told me to talk to the bouncer if I had a problem. This place can obviously afford to compensate for their mistakes. But until they get their sh1t together, take your drinks with you to the restroom or you'll get muscled. read more

Discovered this club about 2 months ago and loved it! It's a smaller feel which I enjoy- easy to dance your way up to the front or take it easy in the back and grab drinks at the bar. Fast security and fare prices for entrance. Only had to pay $10 for a Saturday night out with friends. Overall fun atmosphere read more

I'm a big fan of Kremwerk!! There are a ton of events and always a solid lineup of DJs. One of their longest standing events is Bottom Forty. It's one of their many queer friendly themed nights. There's a Bottom Forty beer bust too once a month. It's a kill the keg with really cheap beers pretty early in the evening. Then the music really ramps up and they're there to help you dance through all the carbs you just drank. : ] Then there's some other niche nights that I would strongly suggest you explore if you're interested. There's Kiss Off; a super fun night for dancing catering towards the queer girl community. There's also The Critter Party. A night full of outstanding drag and animal themed outfits. Fabulous for anyone who really wants to go all out in a super free and energetic environment. I love the underground nature of this place. It's not too big, but it has all you want in a club. It's by no means a dive, you want to put a little effort in your outfit haha. There's usually a photo booth, nice lounge style seating, and a comfortably sized dance floor. I've been going to Kremwerk for a year or two and I had no idea that the second vowel was an "e." Or that it's a gay bar.

Kremwerk has potential, but it's the local music scene that is lacking. Seattle has a sparse and amateur local population of "house" and "techno" DJs - I put the genres in quotes because the regular DJs Kremwerk supplies are total amateurs who've clearly never experienced Chicago or Detroit underground techno/house clubs. The music is amateur "I just heard about 'techno' last week and downloaded some MP3s," unoriginal, has-been house and techno tracks. The crowd is cold, unexcited, the dance floor sparse and filled with people barely dancing, everyone seems like they're pretending to have an "underground club experience." Kremwerk, please bring in some real house and techno producers/DJs. You can't compete with other major cities that have authentic dance music scenes and bring in domestic and international DJ house sets. The local regulars aren't clued in to what's coming out these days and don't know how to put on a proper techno/house atmosphere. This place could be so much better! read more

Nestled in the basement of an old milk factory (I think?), Kremwerk is an undiscovered gem of the Seattle club scene. The exposed koncrete (ha ha), straight lines, and exotic lighting are perfect for the industrial, eastern Europe discotheque theme. The low ceilings make for excellent acoustics, and the DJ on the night I went (Saturday) was jamming some decent progressive house beats (although I believe they change the musical flavor depending on the night). Drink prices are about average for a club scene. The crowd was a good mix of chill people, not wall-to-wall toolsheds and scenewhores like some of the other club-ish places around downtown Seattle. The establishment is new, and the owners seemed super awesome. This will be my standard destination for clubbery nights. read more

I went here with a date for a techno night. Really cool spot. Underground Berlin vibe and decor. Their sound system could be better, but the music was excellent. The staff was generally pretty welcoming. Drinks were expensive, but that's not a deal breaker. Really liked the outdoor area. All in all a good expereience. Will definitely visit again. read more

I can't give this place a star. Music sucks, cover charge is too expensive and the drinks are even more expensive. Definitely the younger crowd. It's not worth your time or money. I have been to Kremwerk twice and the employees have been extremely helpful and accommodating. Last night, I went to close out my tab and the manager told the barback that they were unable to close tabs because it was "too busy." However, customers were buying single drinks with their cards and were able to close out. I repeatedly attempted to get the managers attention and he refused to acknowledge me. The bartender was incredibly uncomfortable with me standing there waiting for the manager that he finally just closed me out and disobeyed his orders. If you are going to put your wonderful employees in an awkward position you should be able to acknowledge the customers and give them a reason as to why you made that decision. read more

I was pretty disappointed with the customer service here last night. The theme was white and people were encouraged to wear white so I wore a nice white shirt. They stamp the inside of your wrist when you go in. Unfortunately the ink rubs off easily and it stained the cuff of my shirt. I politely asked if they would refund my $7 admission, or at least buy me a drink to pay for cleaning. The cashier asked security who acted like I was crazy. I pointed out that if a waiter spilled food or a drink on a customer at a restaurant the restaurant usually pays for cleaning. I didn't think it was unreasonable to ask for a few dollars for cleaning but the management here did. The manager flat out refused. Fortunately the hostess/promoter (not an employee of the club) for the night bought me a drink. She understands customer service but the management at Kremwerk apparently does not. A simple, "I'm so sorry, let us buy you a drink" from the management would have helped a lot. read more

This venue is becoming one of my favorites! Since my last post, I have taken my review up to 5 stars...the variety of underground events is exciting and many changes have happened over this year as the club evolves. You can easily tell the owners are committed to this project/business. There have been several nights I like to attend, the staff is welcoming, there has been a Happy Hour special from 8-10P offered now which is a great time to get situated and chat with friends, they have a built in area now at the entrance which gives you a place outside with privacy from the outside world to chat with friends..totally love this place! read more

Really really really love this place, the design is nice, the ceilings are low (extra points) and the staff is awesome! Music is good (I prefer the dancey/housey stuff) and like most club/venue spots if your looking for a certain type a feel look up on FB prior and see whose Dj'ing/playing/hosting. Once ETG closed the after hours scene on the Hill was sparse and while Monkey Loft is awesome, SODO is far, especially not having a car. While no replacement for ETG, Kremwerk is a fantastic up and coming spot, especially being after hours now. The industrial basement vibe is unique in this area as far as I've seen and offers a personal vibe, while giving space if desired, which is great for a long night dancing. The variety is great too so there's always plenty of events to pick and choose from your liking. This will definitely be a great add to the nightlife scene. read more
