I had a meeting nearby and stopping by a liquor store was on my Friday night to-do list so I popped…read moreinto this one and it was a great decision. It was bright, clean, easy to navigate, and the prices were honestly really good. The selection was also top notch, and the folks working friendly. Overall a slam dunk and I'm kind of sad I don't live closer!

First off, I love the name! Check out their Brown Bag Liquor app, or order online for curbside…read morepickup at brownbagliquor.com/curbside. They're open Mon-Sat 9 AM-11PM, AND SUNDAYS 12-8 PM. 10% off wines every Tuesday. If you can't find it here, it doesn't exist! The array of product is enormous, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I went in to find one quick item, but got sucked in by the huge variety (and I love looking at creative and artsy labels) and left 2 hours later! A couple of current specials that caught my low-budget attention were 1.75 L Bacardi Rum Silver or Gold for $17.99, and 1.75 L Jim Beam Bourbon for $23.99... perfect for making my infamous Bourbon (aka Drunken) Cranberries for the holidays! The store is very well organized, with signage above all the shelves to make it easy to find the product you want. And I love any liquor store that has a good array of inexpensive ($0.40- $0.99) mini/airline bottles, and they have a LOT, also including some you don't usually see, like Chambord, but those are more expensive. The entire back wall is a 47-door refrigerated section, with a lot of space allocated to beer for every palate and budget. Lots of wine too, and so much more! It's worth a trip just to explore that, so get thee to 1078 W Santa Fe Street in Olathe! And I almost forgot...I got a YELP! check-in offer for 10% off the featured wine of the week! Those YELP! bonuses are few and far between these days!

Located in a safe area of Olathe Top Cellars can adequately satisfy all of your adult beverage…read moreneeds. I used to live within a mile from the store, so I'd frequent it while grabbing my favorite spirits. The store has a lot of space and well laid out with a very knowledgeable staff. Do they have the largest selection of alcoholic beverages or some prolific yet harder to find labels? No, but they have enough of the best-selling names to meet most demands. They have a good selection in their refrigerators meaning a lot of their popular white wine or champagnes are already chilled. I know the store has other amenities however I didn't explore them so I can't speak on those. This is my home base of adult beverage operations but the fact they have a good selection and close by. When I come in, I can shop with full confidence they'll have what I need. I highly suggest visiting them if you live close by or just passing through.

He was NOT kidding. In hindsight I should have set the bottle of wine on the counter and left, but I was so shocked at his rudeness and did not want to scare my daughter further by making a scene, so I paid and left. I will never go back even though we live close-by. They are never busy and their shelves are not well-stocked. There are two other places within a mile of Top Cellars to take my business and I will be going there from now on.

Not just by a day or two, but WEEKS or even a MONTH past the expired date on the bottles. This issue is not limited to just one brewery/distributor, but something I've seen with many different labels in-store. A tell-tale sign is when they are still selling winter seasonals like the Deschuttes Red Chair in mid May! On four different occasions I have brought this to the attention to the store mgr on duty, to no avail. The latest incident involved expired Green Flash and Deschuttes labels. Buyer beware! They have a fairly decent selection (not as good as Lukas, but better than the typical neighborhood store) and fairly typical prices, but apathetic Management that would rather sell expired craft beer to us than deal with a clearly recurring problem. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

We can always find everything we need, the prices are fantastic, and sometimes my husband can even find a specialty bourbon he's been looking for. The stores are spotless, and full of helpful staff. So Total Wine and I started out strong. I was sad to see Lukas Liquor go, but Total Wine was here…read morefor me with decent deals, big inventory, and mostly friendly staff. I was happy, and coming here when I was in the area. About six months ago or so I went in to get a multi pack of beer and I was pretty excited to discover that they have a huge wall of inventory from all different breweries that put these multipacks together to choose from. I found one that sounded cool, brought it home, and as I was unloaded them into the fridge I noticed they were MONTHS expired. Now, I know that with beer sometimes that doesn't matter so much, but it does when it's an IPA, and I feel like it should be disclosed that you're purchasing an expired product. All of that being said, a few more months passed and I decided to be more vigilant. I guess I'll have to really check each time I buy beer here from here on out. What frustrates me is that this happened to me again on my last visit. This time I went for a local multi pack from Martin City and I couldn't find an expiration date anywhere on the outside packaging but I thought surely it won't happen again. How wrong I was. All of the beers were again MONTHS expired. To be honest I was super disappointed and a bit upset. Had I noticed in the parking lot I would have returned but it wasn't worth my gas to go back so we drank them despite some potential flavor being off and I'm now fully committed to checking expiration dates on everything I touch in this store. If I don't see one I won't be buying it or I might have to ask staff, or check in the parking lot. So the long and short of this is that it's a nice, big, clean store with massive inventory and good deals. You absolutely need to watch out for expiation dates as they will sell you months expired product.
