The store had more than doubled in size and features countless wines in every price range, a bevy of microbrews (that's beer to all of you Bud Light drinkers), shelves chock-full of spirits and dozens of those cute little airplane-sized bottles you can shove in your pockets to prepare for your in-laws' mandatory Sunday dinners. Separate in check-out but kindred in spirit is K7's party shop, where you'll find a well-stocked cigar humidor, cigarettes and mixers galore. You'll also find everything from corkscrews to beer pong balls to keep the party rolling -- literally and figuratively. Have a liquor related question? Don't be shy. The helpful staff at K7 can tell you the difference between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and which tequilas make the best margaritas. They'll even explain why there's no chilled red section with a straight face. And finally, the store is open til 8 on Sundays now, giving you a whole extra hour to wrap up your weekend drinkathon.

I needed some champagne for a nearby event and there were only four bottles to choose from and not much above the typical $15 range. The beer selection was basic on a quick glance, especially compared to most of the liquor stores I pop into these days (Mike's, Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits, Plaza Liquor, Lucas, etc.) The woman running the counter was super friendly and efficient, and I could see this being a good spot if you live nearby.

I'm really happy with this store because both times that I've been here, I've had such great experiences. The staff is just so nice and willing to help. After receiving my new driver's license, I came here to purchase my first bottle of wine. This was near Thanksgiving. I walked in and was just completely lost. There was just so much to take in. Tons of different bottles to choose from. I immediately walked to the counter and asked the lady on staff if they had any Cupcake Moscato d'Asti. But, they had just run out and I was the third one to come in inquiring about that same product. However, she asked me if I would like other recommendations, ones that were enjoyed by others who enjoy the Cupcake. She even showed me some wines that she likes to use as gifts for others. I ended up choosing MarcoNegri Moscato d'Asti instead and was really happy even though I couldn't find what I originally set out for. Then, I visited about a week after the New Year, when the holidays had died down a bit. I was looking for the cupcake to use as a gift to one of my friends for her 21st bday party. I was able to find it easily and was so happy they had it stocked. I went to check out and I guess I let slip that it was a gift. Justin, the man who rang up my purchase, then went to grab a nice silver bag and even provided white ribbon for me to tie off the gift. I didn't even ask for it and wasn't expecting that at all. It totally made my day because I didn't have to worry about finding nice wrapping for the bottle! I'm definitely going to return to this location for future purchases! Awesome customer service! And just thank you for being so nice to the newbie.

When I first entered I was surprised at how much bigger the store is than it appears to be from the outside. They have a large variety of wines in addition to the beer and liquor. The prices are competitive. Some wines were higher than other stores, some cheaper. The people are very nice and helpful. I was especially impressed by door greeter, Gus, a very friendly black lab, (maybe a lab mix). I was actually talking with someone about a good wine to use in the sangria kit I picked up recently when FPO and I discovered Rowe Ridge Vineyards in Basehor. Gus, realizing his lapse with the initial greeting, immediately came over to make sure everything was okay. After, he went to lay in the sunshine coming in through the front door and to make sure other customers were greeted properly. The foot traffic in and out was steady and it seemed that most people found what they were looking for and left with a purchase. This Justin's is off Shawnee Mission Parkway, tucked away behind Fritz's Railroad Restaurant and HyVee Fast and Fresh. It might not be the convenient location for me but well worth a trip out of my usual way.
