Late dinner and beers. One of our favorite dinner spots for authentic German food. They only spoke…read moreGerman so it was great to have our son with us who has been living in Berlin for the last 3 years and knew enough German to assist us. It's a cozy corner spot with very cool family style bench seating around low cocktail tables. I believe it doubles as a coffee spot during the day so you can see it's set up for people to hang out. The server was very friendly and helped us a lot with getting our order in. We ended up getting a sampling of some of the top dishes to include a Munich style schnitzel. It was delicious.

This was a cute cafe, and I enjoyed the food. My order came out relatively quickly on a late…read moreThursday morning. My server was sweet, and I don't normally leave negative notes in my reviews, but I feel obligated to warn any tourists visiting this place and also alert management to a potentially deceptive practice. When I asked for the bill and indicated I'd be paying by card, my server provided me with the final amount of 30.40 euro. I indicated I wanted to round up to 35 euro for the tip. She then stated that a 2 euro tip was already included in the bill, and so I asked to add an additional 3 euro to match the amount I had originally wanted to tip, about 5 euro (receipt in photo). Not until later when I asked a local whether it was common for a tip to be pre-included in a bill at a cafe did I discover this is not the common practice and that I had likely been targeted as a tourist. It's unfortunate, as I enjoyed my experience otherwise. I will not be returning.

I came for breakfast. The place is on a tram line, off Frauenstraße. The street was all but…read moredeserted and I wondered what I was getting into. When I walked upon Ooh Baby, it was the only place around with a lot of people. Little did I know about it being "Unification" Day. Consequently I had to wait a brief time for a table. The staff, two ladies in their 20s, were very friendly and spoke English. The menu is not extensive. The best way to describe it is California fresh with lots of fresh veggies. I had coffee (probably an Americano) and scrambled eggs with herbs, avocado, tomato, and feta (by special request). All I can say is wow! The eggs came with a very hearty whole grain toast. The herbs were fresh and included arugula! Fresh, green, crisp and delicious. The avocado was perfectly ripe. The feta gave the dish a delightful acidity. The eggs, perhaps a bit over cooked, could use some improvement (perhaps using a less hot pan as they were slightly browned), but that is lost in the joy of the herbs, et al. If you're looking for something great near Isartor, this is the place.

This place is absolutely lovely! It's a small café with an adorable vibe and really, really good…read more(and healthy!) food. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, even if you don't speak German. Even their basic breakfast dishes, like their egg dishes, were phenomenal. If you're in the area, check this place out!

California done better than California itself - in the heart of Munich. Visiting Munich - seeing…read morethis place as a breakfast choice was fun - and honestly I wasn't initially enamored as I expect something like this to be a caricature of the real thing maybe. But the menu felt unique and interesting enough to visit. I got the Apple Almond Affair - stacks of pancakes, roasted apples and almonds - interlaced with vanilla cream, whipped cream and a side of vanilla ice cream. The Palm Beach - a coconut infused chia pudding with fruit. And - the Hermosa Beach - hash browns topped with mushrooms, onions, egg, bacon and cheese. Additionally - coffee! I was very satisfied with all the flavors - as I mentioned - better than California actually offers. The apple pancake dish was decadent but not over the top intensely rich as one may expect it to be. The hash brown dish was super flavorful and pleasantly presented, with fried eggs perfectly adorning the stack. And the chia pudding was also delicious (covered in bananas - which I removed for myself but were eaten by my companion). Currents and other fruit was atop this dish - a lovely flavorful pudding. Service was outstanding, welcoming. Seating - busy morning but no real wait. Cash only on this day due to network issues but that was ok. Just a very inviting space with lovely people and uniquely outstanding food. Must visit in Munich no matter where you are from!

It's very interesting/confusing to see other Californians review this place AND say that it is authentic to their experience going to a diner back home. Our table ordered omelettes with toast, OJ, and coffee. While the latter were fine, I take issue with the main dish. Every diner I've been to back home has Heinz ketchup and perhaps a hot sauce like Tabasco or Cholula. Every other table in sight also lacked these items, which definitely made my meal less enjoyable. We need seasoning beyond salt and pepper if we are going to call this place California-inspired. Service-wise....it's Germany, not California. Leave your expectations for cheerful and attentive service back home. It ain't happening here. Lastly, cash only? Even cash only joints here tend to post a sign somewhere to alert you in case you don't know. We found ourselves scrambling due to this policy. Ambiance and decor was boring and I have definitely seen something like this in California. SKIP California bean (unless you're in a bind like we were)
