Got the family special here on the day before Thanksgiving and was not impressed. The crust on the pizza was unevenly cooked - very overdone on the bottom, and yet undercooked and almost raw in some places. The pizza itself was swimming in pizza sauce. The cheese was uneven and half of it barely had any cheese on it. It was supposed to be pepperoni with half mushrooms but there was mushrooms all over it. The pizza was not cut, simply scored and in a very uneven fashion - a 4 inch piece next to a 1 inch piece. I don't expect all the pieces to be uniform but I do expect them to be of similar size and to be cut all the way through. The chicken was soggy. The potatoes were good and are my favorite jojos around. Definitely not impressed with this place. read more

I'll admit that I've been spoiled by the great pizza I can find in Chicago, but I have fond memories of Kraus'. There are a few things I look for in a pizza place: 1. Price. Pizza is easy to make, lots of people do it, and if your pizza costs too much, I'll go somewhere else. How does Kraus' do in that assessment? Pretty well: I feel like what I paid for it is worth the value I got in return. 2. Taste. Kraus' does some pizzas better than others. The basic pepperoni and cheese, for example, is the pinnacle of deliciousness, whereas their deep dish equivalent (stuffed, I think) is just a step above mediocre: you'll probably like it, but don't count on having a life-changing experience because of it. 3. Charm. What holds true for me is that pizza from a store with character just tastes better. I can't recount all of my experiences with the likes of Papa John's and Pizza Hut; however, I remember every experience I've had with Kraus'. That's a true testament to Kraus' character; it MAKES you remember it. Kraus' does have its weaknesses, however, which is why it gets four stars: it's not open as late as some of the other places in Massillon, and some of the employees I've encountered there are extremely rude and bitchy. This place is so nostalgic to me. We ordered from here every Wednesday night when I was young. I swear, they make the best pizza. It's all about the zesty sauce and provolone cheese. There is something about their oven at this location--it tastes better. And we have tried almost every other location in Massillon/Canton and it doesn't taste as good as this place. Part of the experience of picking up a pizza at Kraus' is opening their decrepit screen door and standing inside waiting for your pizza and sweating your ass off because it's 1,000 degrees in there from the ovens. Then they cut it into pieces in front of you, toss it into the box, and ring it up on their 1940s cash register. To this day, I can still rattle off their phone number. Call me Rain Man, but that should tell you how many times we ordered from this place! I miss seeing Mr. Kraus working the pizza oven. I don't make a trip home without ordering from the Amherst Kraus'. Don't let anyone tell you the other locations are "the same" because they're not. The *ONLY* complaint I have about this place is the "small" pizza used to be bigger. Now it's shrunk in size. The "old small" is now a "large" and costs $4 more. Sigh. The "small" is 6 very small slices. Upgrade to the large (8 slices) and make your tummy happy! read more

Kraus' is just not my thing. I grew up in Stark county, and Kraus' is one of my least favorite pizza options around. My two biggest complaints are: I hate the way their pepperoni curls up into little cups of grease, and I really dislike the taste of their crust. It's way too buttery, almost like thick pie crust. That being said, it's not like it's inedible or anything. I had pretty much forgotten about this place until I recently had some at a relative's house. I will say that they do really load on the toppings. I have never seen a pizza with so many toppings. Now that is a feature I can love. I can't comment on their price or service since I didn't do the ordering or pay. read more

From the broasted chicken and Jo jo potatoes, delicious wings, and subs, to the famously delicious pizza, we don't order from anyone else or Kraus' location. We love the way the cheese melts just right to the crackle of the pepperoni edges when you bite them. The toppings are generous and there are coupons galore in all of the bargain magazines in town. Having been in the pizza business and trying pies over the US and Canada, I was shocked when I tasted Krous' Pizza! First start with fresh dough which is kneaded to about 1/8th inch and rises to 1/4 inch. Perfect for great baked dough. Not to spongy or too crispy. Sauce was just the right quantity. Not too dry, but with just enough to make it a little messy! My only negative comment is really a personal preference; I like more oregano, basil and garlic. Again, a personal preference. I ordered pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onions, black olives and mushrooms. The cheese is provolone. Many places use mozzarella, a blend or believe it or not, an artificial cheese? I understand the use of provolone as it is thicker and truly brings the toppings together. Back to the toppings; the onions and mushrooms were fresh sliced; no diced onions and mushroom stems! Can't say about the other items? Might have been packaged, but were good quality. I believe the pepperoni and sausage were lean since there was very, very little 'grease' in the pie. My journey ends with this; I was visiting my daughter in Canton and the pizza was recommended. I figured I would pick one for when I arrived back home, which is Lima, Ohio about a 2.5 hour trip. As I left Krous' Pizza I could feel the heat coming off the box. I drove a few blocks and I HAD to pull into a parking lot. I had to taste the pie. I opened the box and realized this was going to be incredible or a total bust. As I took my first bite I knew the answer!! I could taste all the ingredients at once as well as the perfectly baked crust. I ended up eating 3 pieces before continuing home. In my opinion, this pie was in the top 3 I have ever consumed. I would recommend you try one if you are heading to Massillon or passing through. Based on some reviews I've read, the next pie will be a Krous Topper (extras layer of dough and provolone cheese! I have loved Kraus' Pizza for many years, the Amherst Rd location to be specific. It is also my daughters favorite and she no longer lives in the area so when she comes home you can guarantee that is where we order from. And if need be they will half bake a pizza for you to finish at home if you are traveling with one. I wish I could give them 10 stars! read more

Our entire family, I mean brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, grandmas, grandpas, in laws, etc etc, get the pizza and wings all the time. It's a craving that we have to have all the time. Some times we get a variation but the go to is pepperoni and cheese. The double crust will limit you to two slices. The wings are fantastic.
