The only thing is they stuck us in a corner with other people's painted pottery so it felt like they were just throwing us somewhere. My biggest issue was the fact it was $60 for 2 mugs that we painted ourselves. I understand they have to bake it. But $60 for 2 mugs really just feels extremely steep. I could see $40-$45 at the most. Especially since I picked the most basic standard coffee mug. The dinosaur mug I can see being a little bit more because it's not just a standard mug. The paints were also majority empty. I kept having to find one that wasn't empty.

Maybe we'll make construction paper chains to decorate. I got everything I needed in one stop. Besides lots of holiday items they also have a party item area and balloons too. The line was long with two registers open plus two self-check out kiosks. Plenty of parking in front. Doors are automatic sliders for easy in and out.

I came in one afternoon with my toddler and zero background in needlepoint and the ladies in this store were so helpful and accommodating. I found a lobster canvas (on the larger side) and I knew that this canvas was what I wanted to start with even though it wasn't meant for beginners. The ladies helped me pick out all the yarns needed and talked to me about the difference in materials and what goes well with what. I needed to learn how to do the basic stitches and even though my son let living their pencil jar around the store, everyone was so sweet and they took the time to teach me different options to start and finish and of course mastering the continental. The options were so cute and I am so grateful to not only the ladies working there, but all the women stitching in the back area who showed me their designs and were very encouraging. While needlepoint is an expensive hobby, they talked to me about prices and were really transparent. It didn't take long for me to find other needlepoint shops closer to home and I honestly think the level or service and options provided at other stores around Boston have not compared to the ladies at Needlepoint by the Bay.

Warning: biased review. I'm a guy in a craft store!…read more While I do have some crafting interests, they usually involve saws and lots of glue. So while my girlfriend was sifting through the fabric to make some pretty cool future craft project, i naturally sat in front of the $8499 embroidery machine with the super-wham-o-dyne touch screen interface. I clicked "OK" on the screen because it was CALLING ME to, then a bunch of stuff started happening and the embroidery table started moving all around. I got the DEATH GLARE from the employee working there, then she proceeded to condescendingly explain to me why I shouldn't calibrate the machine. HEY JO-ANN! If you don't want people playing with it, TURN IT OFF! It's on display for people to test out, right? Grr. Otherwise the store is okay, it has a bunch of stuff in about every crafting category you could think of - from paper maiche to framing to quilting, sewing, baking, and who knows what else. Best part: Del's Lemonade truck in the parking lot, but that's for a different review.
